[Talks] Ovi Maps and Ovi Suite

2011-02-24 Thread Matthew Chao

Hi, Folks! Still having trouble with Ovi Maps and the Ovi Suite.

Suite not accessible in one of the emails.

2. Regarding Ovi Maps, can't seem to get the version when I select
"about" under Maps Support. Need to know so I cand decide whether to
upgrade from the Blinsea Web site.

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide. --Matthew Chao

2011-02-24 Thread Evan Silver
When I tap the power button on my N86, amond the profiles I can switch to,

I'm actually looking for a feature that will quickly power off all the
energy draining features such as connection to 3G , Bluetooth, and GPS,

Thanks.

power saving will minimize the use of battery on your handset. it will use
lower backlight, no vibration, no indicator light, and
etc.

Ovi suite is'nt accessible at all.
You will only find a few graphic icons using the jaws or otherwise mouse
cursor function's, and it is'nt also very unaccessible in it's uninstall
process.

Search for PC-Suite 7.x instead, and give it a try.

Have you got the Talks cursor mode set to letters? Do this by pressing
Talks key followed by number 2 on the numberpad. There are 3 positions for
the cursor mode, Words, Origional and letters. You need letters.

Hello Matthew,

This question has been answered before.

Forget about OVI Suites. Please use PC Suite instead.

As for OVI maps, you already have OVI maps on your Nokia N86. You might
want to consider dropping some of your lists, because you are ignoring
former posts.

[Talks] Butt dialing: Was RE: Casn replace words with a symbol.

2011-02-24 Thread Dan Rossi
Around here, accidentally dialing your cell phone while it is in your
pocket is called butt dialing. That is b u t t as in one's posterior.

I have received a number of butt calls from various people. it is
amusing to hear them going about their business, completely unaware that
their phone has placed a call. Typically it happens with a speed dial,
not a random number dial. For that reason, I keep my phone locked all
the time.

I just checked, and on the page

there is a toggle labeled "Disable flash". After clicking on this, a
text table comes up listing all of the Nokia phones. Note I did this
with JFW and Firefox on windows xP.

Re: [Talks] Question about a software update.

2011-02-24 Thread Christopher Chaltain
A few applications, like PED, use the Python runtime environment. If
these applications are working just fine for you then there's no reason
to update. Talks isn't dependent on this runtime support, so installing
the update shouldn't have any effect on Talks at all.

Re: [Talks] How to set phone to roaming when travelling

2011-02-24 Thread Allan
in order for you to roaming, there're things you should do before travalling:

1. contact your network provider whether they have roaming partners with the
country you are going to visit.

2. contact your network provider to check whether your number has been roaming
activated. some company may ask for little deposit
before they activate the roaming service.

3. usually, if your network have partner with another operator at the country
that you visit, apon arrival, just switch on your
phone, your phone will automatically search for a network to get you connected.
if it does not, just do a manual network search and
choose the partner company network.

many country in europe is using GSM, so you should be no problem get your N82
roam with their network.
there're country also using CDMA, if you visit to the country that using CDMA
instead of GSM, then you must rent or buy another
cellphone apon arrival.

HTH.

Re: [Talks] Ovi Maps and Ovi Suite

2011-02-24 Thread Thomas N. Chan
The phone itself will not download the full maps of the area of your choice
like north america, only map loader does that.
If you install only pc suite, the map loader will not work till you install
ovi suite. Mathew is right about all these as its nothing to do with pc
suite or ovi suite, the map loader itself will not load all the maps onto
the phone.
Even if you got unlimited data useage, there's just time you just want your
phone to navigate on itself own and not kept asking your phone to go online
and retreive the map info again.
note, its different from wayfinder as it calculate the route only through
its own info and processor and does not rely on a server on nokia.

Have you got the Talks cursor mode set to letters? Do this by pressing
Talks key followed by number 2 on the numberpad. There are 3 positions
for the cursor mode, Words, Origional and letters. You need letters.

power saving will minimize the use of battery on your handset. it will
use lower backlight, no vibration, no indicator light, and

etc.

Re: [Talks] Ovi Maps and Ovi Suite

2011-02-24 Thread Kit
Hi Matthew,

1. So far, no speech program on a pc can operate OVI Suite or Nokia Map
Loader.

2. Nokia PC Suite will not help in downloading maps.

So, in both points above, you need to get sighted help in downloading maps,
no other choices. If the sighted person is not computer literate, use Nokia
Map Loader, easier compared with OVI Suite. I struggled with this earlier
as well. Believe me, get a child who knows how to read and click the mouse
and you can download it with no problem.

If your Firmware not up to date and you think so your OVI Maps program in
the phone is not up to date, you can download the maps program from:

http://www.nokia.com/maps

All the best,
KITT.

Re: [Talks] Transferring a licence.

2011-02-24 Thread Neil Barnfather - TalkNav
John,

no, provided that the license is yours in the first place, not second hand, and
that it is premium, you can in most cases move your license from your old phone
to your new phone for £50.

some exceptions to this are when the original license is very old, say version
1 or 2 etc, and certainly when the original license was not yours, as Talks
licenses are none transferable from one owner to the next.

Neil, if I want to transfer my existing license for Talks from my N82 to
another supported phone, will I also have to buy a new license?
