Both phones in this case are for the business market. This is true for all
the E-Series phones. The E stands for Enterprize Edition which means
businesses. So the E50, E51, E52, e55, E60, E61, E61I, E62, E63, E65, e66,
E70, E71, E71X, E72, E75, E90 are all designed for the business user. The
functionality between all the models differ in function as far as what tey
have for the Symbian version that they run.

According to GSMArena.com the E71 and E72 are running different levels of
the OS.
E71: Symbian OS 9.2, Series 60 v3.1 UI
E72: Symbian OS 9.3, Series 60 v3.2 UI
So I'm not sure it's fair to speculate how a FW update on one phone will
compare to a FW update on the other. Either way, my advice is that if it
isn't broken, don't fix it.

[Talks] latest message from talknav regarding gps solutions.

2010-11-24 Thread alex wallis

Hi.
I just got a message from talknav regarding accessible gps solutions.

I understand full well they are a business and should promote there own
products, and are doing so by mentioning the fact they sell a range of
code factory products.

However, I do think there message is slightly misleading,
in that it says
"as you'll have been aware from the recent demise of Wayfinder Access,
users of the Symbian operating system have recently lost their only
accessible GPS option on their Nokia phones."

only accessible option?
what about loadstone?
OK, I will admit loadstone isn't exactly a full gps solution as you have
to provide it with data, never the less, it is an alternative free
option for symbian, as both the options talknav are suggesting would
require spending money either to by a copy of mobile speak to access ovi
maps, or to buy a windows mobile device to use mobile geo.
Whereas loadstone is free, and works with existing versions of talks,
and once it is provided with data it can work as an accessible solution.

2010-11-24 Thread Stephen Giggar
Well in that case, then believe what you wwant. However you should look at
the Nokia specs for both phones and base your wording on that and what you
reviewer may say. Compare the specs of both phones yourself. Remember what
reviewers say and what is are to different things. Example: Some reviewer
say the E71 and E71x are the same phone just the E71X has the AT&T name on
it. But reality is totally different.

As far as huge differences will depend on what you call a huge difference.

The main thing to keep in mind here is Talks will work on both phones accept
for the Symbol issue on the E72 with the latest firmware for that phone.

Re: [Talks] latest message from talknav regarding gps solutions.

2010-11-24 Thread Kit
Hi Alex,

In fact, all those shortcut mentioned in some of the article |I have read,
it's not by MS but rather in the OVI maps program itself, example, 2 to
save, 4 repeat and so on while navigating. I have been using Talks with OVI
maps with no problem. Only need to memorize few menus and others are ok to
go with Talks.

I have also asked for feed back from MS users whether they could read the
main menu with no problem or still need to memorize it.

Yes, Loadstone, an excellent free program. Yes, of course, data wise, you
have to do it yourself or obtain it from their database. But when you talk
about the history WayFinder, , is the same, due to not many people using in
my country, also no proper maps, so, no complain for that matter, loadstone
is the best for me. I have been using it and helping me greatly especially
when I travel daily with no sighted help.

Regards,
KITT.

You mean there's a new update release?
I wish Talks new update to read the Help Files the way it did on the
second symbian phone edition.

Talks is still being worked on. It hasn't been discontinued at all. So
hoom ever you herd that from probably is a strong supporter of a
conpetitor product who probably doesn't know anything at all. Yes Nuance
had a death of one of the initial people who designed Talks! Howevber the
programmer is still going and the product is still being worked on. After
all, they put out a release in September or there abouts.

Hardware eventually fails, software eventually works.
No amount of bandwidth can fix poor design.

Talks List:

Well, down here in North Carolina, the rumor is out there that Talks is
at

the end. When folks hear that I have it, they say "ain't Talks dead or
getting close?" When I ask them where they heard that, they all get
very

vague. The only thing I can figure is that they heard that the original
Talks author died so they figure it is gonna die, more or less, with
him.

What I have heard on this list is that there is very little chance that
it

will end.

Now, has anyone heard anything else or does anyone else know anything
else?
