[Talks] Nokia PCSuite
Hi friends, I have installed the Nokia PC Suite from the BlindSea web site, the latest version but I can't seem to get the menus to work to be able to install the latest version of Talks on my Microsoft Windows XP machine. Is there a way around this? Can I copy the Talks files to the phone and install them that way? Many thanks in anticipation for any help, Steve. This message may contain confidential information. Re: [Talks] Nokia PCSuite
Steven You do not need to go into PC Suite first in order to install a file. You can just find the file on your PC, Press enter on it, and PC Suite should bring up a box asking if you want to install the file. You may need to use the review cursor on your PC screen reader to find and click the YES button. At that point, the file will be sent to the phone and the phone will then start prompting you for the needed information. At this point, you must use he phone to finish the install. Like I said, you do not need to be in PC Suite. Signed: Stephen Giggar Skype: dr-phone. Hardware eventually fails, software eventually works. Worked a treat, thanks very much for everyone's help. Just realised that I had been running version 4 for all this time, no idea how this happened, I was sure that I upgraded to 5. why not just press enter on the talks installer it will ask you if you want to install the application to the phone you then click yes then after a few seconds you will hear finish the installation on the phone interface. now press softkey1 4 times with 2 seconds between each press if nothing happens after 2 minutes press softkey1 again. talks will use the nokia tts voice if you have not installed eloquence. Installing eloquence is almost the same when the install is complete you will be in the folder you were in when you clicked on talks or eloquence. You can run the applications installer from with in pc suite but using it as outlined above is much easier. Remember you have to have the time an date set correctly or talks will not install. Steven, yes, if Talks is installed to the memory card, you can't change the memory card without losing talks, therefore it should be installed to the phone memory. In order to install to the phone memory it must be removed from the memory card. Another trick I use to get to a few things in PC suite, like the Synchronize utility, is to use the System Tray. If you're using JAWS, you can use insert+F11, arrow down to PC Suite, tab over and select the right mouse click. You can then arrow down to and select the different utilities. -- Christopher chalt...@gmail.com On 9/30/2010 4:01 AM, Stephen Giggar wrote: Steven You do not need to go into PC Suite first in order to install a file. Re: [Talks] Nokia PCSuite
there are a couple of versions there where accessibility and supported features on your phone need to be balanced. Personally I use 7.1.19. I find this is a good balance between newly supported features like bluetooth connection management. You access most if not all pc suite options by clicking the pc suite icon on the system tray which brings up a menu which you can up or down arrow through and jaws speaks all the options so arrow to your choice and press enter. An earlier version is more accessible meaning you can open pc suite and tab through the various options. But against that you lose some features. Rarely if ever do I need to open pc suite in itself but use the system tray menu to access the options found in pc suite. So if you can handle system tray menus i'd give 7.1.19 a go. if not then an earlier version may be better for you. by the way the bluetooth connection management connects the phone and pc randomly then it closes the connection if a true connection is suddenly required the phone and pc connect very quickly. In earlier versions the bluetooth connection was held open and ready at all times very draining on battery life. Also the later versions install message and contact pluggins to the phone earlier versions may not have these features. Hi Doug, It's the conflict with Eloquence. You could do either one of the following: 1. Upgrade to Talks V5.01.1 and it should work well. 2. I'm not sure, it does have a memory card in it. Its battery life is pretty good. The keys on the slide part of the phone itself are very well raised. The sound quality is good with eloquence. The speaker is on the bottom right hand side of the phone. On the very top of the phone, is a little catch that you need to lift up with your finger nail and under that little catch is the part for the USB and and also is the button so that you can take off the back cover. To turn on and off the phone, the exit button also turns off and on the phone. The phone also makes sounds when you slide it up or down but you can turn that off by going into settings, general, personalization, themes then you need to go into audio themes then you can turn off the sounds in the phone. I don't think it has wifi. I'm not too sure on how much memory the phone is meant to have, as I've put stuff onto it. Re: [Talks] new phones
You should look at the e72 with outstanding reception with a 7 bar reading most of the time including a car journey from southern Sydney to east Maitland with a 7 bar reading all the way excluding 2 6 bar readings each lasting for only a few seconds. The battery life is very good with both bluetooth and wifi active the entire time as skype is running in the background checking for email every 15 minutes. After 3 days with a reboot daily the battery reading was 2 bars. I don't disable phone features to save battery so you can count on at least 80 hours. gps reception again is very good. on walks at certain points other nokia models give a reading of 66 percent the e72 gives a reading of 100 percent. with it's full qwerty tactile keyboard both emails and text messaging are just so easy and fast. there is a tactile dot below the g key which is also the number 5. There are 4 modes 2 business 2 personal each can be configured differently including shortcuts and one touch keys. the e72 comes with a full working version of quick office that can be upgraded to the latest version at any time which is totally free. personally I wished they had put in a second speaker apart from that point I think the e72 or for telstra customers e72-2 should be considered when upgrading or purchasing a phone. next mobile in Queensland fortitude valley currently sells the e72-2 for $459 with the normal e72 cheaper that that. The latest talks works perfectly in the e72-2 including the built in email client . It's the slimmest mobile phone I have ever seen including the iphone. Re: [Talks] new phones
most new phones come with a 3 gig card which you can replace with a larger capacity card. I have a 16 gig card in my e72-2. Nokia now put the pc suite install files on the 3 gig card and no longer ship a cd with the phone. The first time you connect the phone to a pc and if the original 3 gig card is in the phone you are asked if you wish to install pc suite to your computer .
