Wrenches,

There is NO RECALL of any Enphase products. There has NEVER been a recall
of any Enphase product.

Demand has far exceeded our expectations. This has led to challenges with
product availability which may have resulted in misinformation in the
field.

Ramping up production is our number one priority. However, we refuse to
compromise product quality. We insist that all products delivered continue
to meet our stringent quality standards.

We really appreciate your support and continued understanding as we work
through these temporary supply issues.

2009-06-26 Thread Randy Hatch
Jeff,

Could you expand on this comment, please:

"We parallel Fronius inverters all the time with no problem as long as wire
runs are short."

Perhaps I am confused. How do you "parallel" the inverters?

Does the method satisfy 690.64 (B)(1) requirements for Dedicated Overcurrent
and Disconnect?

I am using NEC 2008. Thanks for clarification.

Got a call to check out an existing, but distant system that a elderly
couple spent over $200K for a pv/battery/wind system and system never worked
right. Local electrician called to advise many design and wiring problems
and suspects orignial installer had no clue.

I have not seen the system yet, but was told he has ten (10) Outback
inverters, 2 configured for sell back and 8 not. He said they called
Outback and received 2 differnet recommendations concerning conversion of
remaining 8 inverters to grid tie. Was told they could be factory
re-configured to all sell back, but can only stack two inverters in sell
mode.

If true, why can't you just parallel multiple stacks of dual inverters and
just feed each pair to their own circuit breaker in the main panel? We
parallel Fronius inverters all the time with no problem as long as wire runs
are short.

Bottom line - note sure what we will suggest until I check it out tomorrow,
but wanted to be able to advise which answer they received from Outback was
correct.

Thanks,

Jeff Yago

Hello All,

I have an inquiry for a 40KW+ off grid and are looking for suggestions.
Small conference center, some lodging, commercial kitchen, 30+% full [loaded
up] occupancy, small staff and maintenance crew for [70%] balance of the
time.

The full loads will probably be met with [1 or 2] LP gas generators.
The utility line quote is $1+ million away.

We are looking at all options-

High volt runs to AC coupled and Outback 3648, 6 packs.

High volt to FM 80's and Outback 3648 , 6 packs.

Sunny boy Islands 5048's.

We want some redundancy but are looking for a good blend of large, reliable,
and redundant.

I welcome your opinions.

Thanks in advance,

Dana Orzel

[RE-wrenches] Installation Environment, Mold

2009-11-18 Thread Randy Hatch
Wrenches,

Hope your days are going well. We have a prospective customer (adjacent to
a sewer treatment plant) who is concerned that there may be an issue with
mold growth on or under the PVL laminate modules that we are planning to
install. The PVL module datasheet states that the adhesive has a microbial
inhibitor but the customer does not believe that inhibitor alone will
prevent mold from growing on, under or around the modules. The customer
also suggests that the environment will be more acidic than typical. They
have inquired as to how the pv equipment may be affected by these items over
the installation's lifetime. So, does anyone have industry experience with
either or both of these environmental concerns? How might the customer's
concerns be addressed/alleviated? Thanks much.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Insurance classification

2008-12-04 Thread Randy Hatch
Wrenches,

Our insurer has stated this:

"There is a SOLAR ENERGY CONTRACTORS classification "ISO" uses the number
99080, if he asked about a "renewable Energy Installer" then the company
may have not been looking for the correct classification. Also his insurer
may use their own classification numbers and names. If that is the case then
the HVAC class may charge the same rate as SE Contractors.

Also you are listed correctly; the classification applies to all works
including heating, cooling and power generation. A separate classification
needs to be listed for sales of solar equipment; if you look on your
Commercial GL coverage part of the policy it lists "Stores" class code
18437 this is to pick up any direct sales that you would have for parts or
equipment that you don't install."

In New Mexico, you just need to be a licensed electrician to do solar, so we
were just listed as electrical contractors, but we recently switched category :
Solar Energy Contractor 95648
Todd's listing sounds even better, though.

Hi Mike,

I took the Solar Thermal exam in September, and the guys on the other
side of the room taking the PV exam were given codebooks. We certainly
had just the code books back in the fall of '04 when I took the PV
exam. But perhaps something has changed very recently?
