[RBW] Re: FS: Racks n' Sacks n' More - Price drop!

2021-07-19 Thread SpiralCage
Hey Rivsters,

Only a few days left before I'm off, so I'm pricing remaining items to
move. Prices include shipping in CONUS. Friday is the last day I'll be able
to ship things out.

thanks,
Robert

*Sackville Saddlebag $115*
Tan waxed canvas. Bought 2013 or 2014. This is the largest saddlebag I've
ever owned but I'm pretty sure it is the medium size. Looks about
equivalent to the current "HappiSack". It is in remarkably good shape. I
used it only on one or two tours as it was overly large for my daily needs.
There is some rubbing on the leather on the bottom where it rested on the
rack. Some rubbing marks where the straps were pressed against it near the
saddle loops. Comes with the "kangaroo pouch" that was introduced with
this bag. No tears, zippers work great. All straps in good shape, but I
don't have the saddlebag straps. These can be bought from Riv here: Sackville
Leather Straps

.

*Pletscher (Clem) Rack with tail light mount, and pannier rails - $45*
Brand new, bought for a project that didn't materialize. These are still in
their original packaging and in the box from Riv with the invoice still in
it! I will simply seal the box and send it out to the lucky recipient.

*Nitto R12 Saddle Bag Supporter*: *$30*
This is in very good shape, a little scuffing on the rubber attachment
point, but no tears in the rubber. This worked great but doesn't work with
the seat stays on my NFE.

*Nitto Lugged Threadless Stem $70*
Used this for about two years on my NFE but switched it out for a riser
stem. Not likely to have a second treadless bike, so up for grabs. The
exterior is in perfect condition, some evidence of being attached to stem
and h'bars in the clamp areas. I think it is 9cm but could be 10cm

Pictures here:

First person who buys one of these items can have the four CD-Rs of
Rivendell Readers if you want them.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I'm coming up on ten years with the
Atlantis and I just love it more and more as the years go. It does rides so
well loaded (unloaded as well, but I always have at least *some* load) and
am always looking for an excuse to head out camping. It'd be nice if the
weather cooperated for one last s24o this year, but at least right now it's
looking pretty grim.

2014-05-26 Thread SpiralCage
So I switched my Quickbeam from drops to Alba's and now have it's old
"cockpit" available along with a few other items. List follows:

* Complete cockpit:
 - Soma Brevet
Bar,
46cm width,
 - Nitto Technomic 26.0 110mm 72d Silver 225mm 1" Quill Stem
 - Cane Creek SCR-5C Compact Road Brake Levers
 - Nitto Silver Bar Plugs
 - Wrapped in Newbaums green tape, twinned and shellacked.

According to my records the above was about $150 new. Will sell for $80
including CONUSA shipping.

* Sorta mangled Brooks B-17
Pre-aged

Great Brooks saddle with pre-drilled holes. However for some reason -
perhaps tying it down too tight, perhaps the numerous torrential storms I
endured in my cross-country tour it "broke in" lopsided. The frame is fine
but I have no idea how to revive the leather (if it's at all possible). So
I'm selling this at fire-sale prices for anyone who wants to attempt said
revival or put new leather on the frame.

$25 shipped CONUS

* Showers Pass Touring
Jacket
 - Yellow and Black, great rain jacket. Roomy, pit-zips hi-viz. I bought
the English Riding Jacket and don't really need a second jacket. This
jacket has mostly been wadded up in my Saddlesack but I'm sure I've worn it
a good dozen times. Good backup when it's really cold and certainly does
it's job of keeping the rain off.

$35 shipped CONUS

* Large Splats  "B" Shoe size 7-9
- I'm a big fan of splats and used the original one's until the velcro wore
out. So was happy to see the new edition with the improved side strap.
However the size I ordered,, 7-9, are clown-shoe-ishly large. Considering
that I am a size 9 show I wouldn't have thought that would have been the
case (unless Riv sent me the wrong size I suppose). Anyway I only wore
these once in the rain and disliked the overly large size.

So will trade them for the "A" size (up to 7) or $15 shipped CONUS

More pictures available on request. All items used, sold as is. All offers
considered. First come first served &c &c

[RBW] Re: Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires at 25,000 miles

2014-12-19 Thread SpiralCage
Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires are the absolute best. I rode my last one
until you could see a line of the blue belt all the way around the tire.
I've gotten over 15,000 miles on all the ones I've had. I've only had one
legitimate flat in two complete sets of the tires; my last set had zero
flats including even this particular incident:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/35237104136@N01/15558308972/in/set-7215764509888

I use the 700x38 on the Atlantis and I find that the ideal size for touring
and moderate off road use. Can't imagine using any other tires.

Man I wish I'd gotten a pirate shirt too!

Enthused to hear about the return of seersucker as well. I wore the

Re: [RBW] Planning first longish bike tour in Oregon. Suggestions?

2015-02-26 Thread SpiralCage
Yeah, personally I'd ride 101 to Cosmpolois (just skirting Aberdeen) and
then 105 down to the coast. Some great riding along the coast there and the
section into Raymond right above the water is fantastic. Plus you go by the
Cranberry Road Winery which also has a new brewpub associated with it.

SR 6 is good times as far as it goes, but then you are in Centralia. I've
got a good route from there to Olympia if one was dead set on going to Oly,
but I think if I was on the train I'd just stick with it to P-Town.

So given lesser time constraints this is the route I'd actually take:

https://goo.gl/maps/KhWp8

note on this one I moved a section from my previous route on hwy 12 to a
frontage road, which one should do regardless of which of these variations
one utilizes.

[RBW] Re: What do you all think of this Northwest tour?

2015-10-03 Thread SpiralCage
I rode in that general region last summer and I really loved it. The route
I took though was more central in the mountains and the forest roads were
some of the best riding from that tour. The route roughly would have been
to continue on 12 to Randle then turn onto 131 continuing on to NFD-29.
Then onto NF-90 which becomes Curly Creek Rd to Meadow Creek road and
finally to Wind River rd which intersects with your route. Great views of
Mount Saint Helens in this route and you can go up the back route to the
mountain as well (NF-99). Excellent forest road riding over several
mountain pass and there are campgrounds and and of course National forests
to camp in. Anyway I'm sure most of the riding out there is great and your
route looks like you get a lot closer to Adams. I definitely want to
explore more in the Gifford-Pinchot, so will be curious to hear about how
your route goes!

[RBW] Re: FS: 58cm Quickbeam *Lower Price* + Misc items

2018-04-05 Thread SpiralCage
Hey all,

So new lower price on my Quickbeam: $1000 OBO. Also I have more time now
and could ship it for cost, but definitely a preference for local (Seattle)
pickup.

Also I have a couple of other things FS:

I have a Big Nitto Front rack for 26" wheels. This one:
https://www.rivbike.com/collections/racks/products/nitto-big-front-rack-34f-20075

Riv sells it for $218 I'll sell it for $100 + shipping. It's in good shape;
I had it on my Safari for a few years did one tour with bags on it. Some
scratches, but in solid shape.

I also have a three pairs of Musa shorts in the original butternut size L.
One has a green crotch and is probably later. All are in good shape (no
rips or tears) and are great riding shorts. They are just too big for me
now. Would trade for a medium or sell for $20 each.

One pair the original Musa pants in butternut. There is some oil stains
near the ankle from riding with these and one rear pocket missing the
button. Size Large. No rips or tears and velcro is still solid. Again just
too big for me and I don't really like to ride in pants. $20

[RBW] FS: Updated List (QB, Bags, Rack, etc)

2018-04-17 Thread SpiralCage
Riv-sters,
I've gone through my closet and am updating my ongoing sale.

Rivendell Quickbeam 58cm. $800 Full details here:
https://post.craigslist.org/manage/6548824667?action=display&go=display
Quickbeam gallery:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/35237104136@N01/albums/72157633309416243

*Nigel Smyth Paladin saddlebag*. $35 OBO
Well used but the bag and straps are in great condition. One of the buckles
has come off from the canvas, but I have it and it could be stiched back
on. I've used a lot of Riv bags from Baggins on and this was my favorite
saddlebag.
More photos of the bag itself as well as mounted on my Atlantis here:
https://www.flickr.com/search/?sort=date-taken-desc&safe_search=1&tags=paladin&user_id=35237104136%40N01&view_all=1

*Big Nitto 'Campee' Front* rack for 26" wheels (Also would fit 650b it
seems to me). $75 OBO
This is in very good shape, no scratches on the frame and only some
markings around where the bolts were.
More pictures here:
https://www.flickr.com/search/?sort=date-taken-desc&safe_search=1&tags=campee&user_id=35237104136%40N01&view_all=1
More info from Riv:
https://www.rivbike.com/collections/racks/products/nitto-big-front-rack-34f-20075

*Musa Shorts Large.* $20
One pair of Musa shorts in the original butternut size L. In good shape (no
rips or tears) and a great riding shorts. It is just too big for me now.
Would also trade for a medium.
More pics:
https://www.flickr.com/search/?sort=date-taken-desc&safe_search=1&tags=butternut&user_id=35237104136%40N01&view_all=1

*Ostrich F-106 Rando Bag.* $75 OBO
This is the less tall of their two sizes. Includes a Velo Orange decaluer
attachment. Bag is in great shape, no damage to it and includes all of the
straps and the rain cover. I ended up preferring a basket on the front of
my bicycle.
More pics:
https://www.flickr.com/search/?sort=date-taken-desc&safe_search=1&tags=boxybag&user_id=35237104136%40N01&view_all=1

*Ostrich S-2 Saddlebag* $50 OBO
Great medium size olive canvas Ostrich saddlebag. The canvas, straps and
everything are in great condition. HOWEVER there is a metal bar at the top
that it supports it and it has torn through the canvas on one side and is
working its way through on the other. This never hindered my use, I'd just
slide it in. But I it could be addressed with a reinforcing patch which I
always intended to do. I just ended up with too many saddlebags, so passing
it along.

[RBW] FS: 58cm Quickbeam

2018-03-18 Thread SpiralCage
My Quickbeam has been sitting around the apartment far too long so it's
time it found a new owner. I posted about this back in the day when I
bought the frame and had it repainted, so you can get all the nitty gritty
of the work that was done on it by searching the archives. Anyway I've
since converted it to a three speed which makes the Seattle hills easier to
manage. The original single speed wheel is included with it. I've got all
the build info and pictures on the Craigslist ad:

https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bik/d/rivendell-quickbeam-58cm/6521085801.html

As the ad sez I'm asking $1200 obo.

I'd like to sell it in Seattle as I'm not able to deal with packaging and
shipping right now. If you'd like to buy it and aren't local I'd be happy
to deal with a third party, be they generous individual or a shop.
