Re: [RBW] Slipping/sliding/jumping/ghosting gears on a new Platypus

2025-01-21 Thread Mackenzy Albright
I've absolutely had issues with Silver Shifters on thumb pods (or bar end)
giving issues with slippage. My solution: Reverse Rapid-rise derailer. For
some reason it just plays better with the ratcheting action especially when
the spring is under more tension. I found regular shifters, especially with
a strong spring in a high gear, want to pull the shifter down. It drove me
nuts.

Now that I think about it - I have a developed a tendency to fuss with the
tension on the shifter while I am riding even with the RRR der. If I am
running in a higher gear over bumpy terrain I will still "snug" it up so
it's quite stiff and I can just leave it. If I am shifting often through
the city with lights and traffic I will loosen it slightly so it's easier
to bump up and down. It's fairly second nature at this point. I am totally
happy with my shifting setup and wouldn't change it for anything otherwise
at this point.

I will also do my best to never own a regular shifter at this point. heh.

I got a lot of miles out of the Loup-Loup pass tires, but the Pari-Motos
are bargain compared to Rene Herse, even if I don't get the same mileage.
Plus you can get them in black sidewall without paying more.

Agreed on the Pari Motos. I swapped out my kid's bike from the WTB Nano to
these and the kids went from hating the bike to loving it and going fast. I
run RH Stampede Passes on my wife's bike and on the tandem, but if the Pari

MSRP for the Rene Herse tires. (And my Rene Herse tires are all bought used

[RBW] Re: WTB: ron's bikes fabs abs

2025-01-21 Thread Minh
Paul,

Good luck, I"ve been hunting for a fabs chest and there just isn't many
being sold. I think the combination of factory shortages, has caused
scarcity as many folks are holding on to them not knowing if they can get
another one.

I feel like the Clap Trap release last week sold out almost instantly and
at $200 reflects what these bags will cost now. I'm a little scared to
see how much a fabs chest will cost if they get released again later this
year.
