In the first Critique's Dialectic, Kant suggests that all our concepts and
cognitions can be brought into one unified system. He also indicates that this
cognitive system somehow presupposes nature being purposive –– a train of
thought that he resumes in the third Critique. This term, we examine Kant's
theory of systematicity. The goal is to reconstruct Kant's account and
understand how it relates to Leibniz's notion of a universal science. Changing
the policies from previous terms, attendees are expected to read the text
before each session. We're also excited to announce a special session with
Samantha Matherne (Harvard), who is giving a talk in week 5. If you'd like to
