Hi all. I'm looking for a DAB radio that takes les than 4 AA batteries. I have one that takes 6 of them and runs down after 5 hours of listening. Re: DAB Radios
Hi. DAB radios are digital radios. A normal radio would pick up stations vior analog signals. A digital radio would pick up stations vior digital transmission. You would get all the channels which are broadcasted on satellite and cable. here. The sound is crystal clear with no interference. Most of these radios have an option where you can switch to FM mode to listen to local channels. - Original Message - From: "Sabaruddin Isa" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Monday, May 05, 2008 3:27 PM Subject: Re: DAB Radios > Any idea if i can play on my mobile. Re: computer and bluetooth headphones
Kathy if these bluetooth headphones are for PC or audio equipment then you need to plug the bluetooth base 3.5 jack in to your headphone socket on your PC. Make sure the base is plugged in at the mains. On some base units there is a button you switch on to line 1 or line 2 . Make sure you have batteries in your headphones. I know this sounds obvious but some times we just forget the most basic things time to time. I have Philips headphones where I have turned the switch to line 1 on the base and the headphones I can't think of anything else. You might want to try ordinary headphones in the same socket if they work then the problem lies with the bluetooth base or headphones. - Original Message - From: "Kathy Szinnyey" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Friday, May 09, 2008 12:29 PM Subject: computer and bluetooth headphones > Hi, all! Hi Mark. Just drag them over with your mouse. Another way of doing it is to select CTRL and C to copy and go in to the CD drive and press CTRL V to paste them. That should then open WMP and you may have to tab over and hit the ‘start burn’ button. HTH! Forgive me for my comment folks. Isn't it just easy enough to listen to music from your phone or preferred MP3 device. It's taken Apple so long to meet the VI sector half way with the accessibility issues. Their attitude was sod the blind and who ever can't access our devices or software. Re: Itunes 8 now accessible
Hi Jonathan. We both have the same phone. I have defined a Key to bring up the music menu. When you put music or podcasts on the phone you can also just Take the memmorycard out of the phone and insert it in to your card adaptor and then pop it in to your laptop. I prefer this method of putting music on to a phone. The thing with Apple you have to go to the trouble of converting music in to the player's code and then if the player is accessible you can select and play music of your choice. Re: problems burning .wma files to CDR disks
Hi Alex I have used Windows Media player to burn WMA files to CD by cutting and copying in to the CD directory. I then just selected write to CD and Windows Media Player just automatically started up and preformed the task. I don't know about the programs you have just mentioned but I'm sure help will be at hand soon. - Original Message - From: "Alexander Shannon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Wednesday, November 05, 2008 3:54 PM Subject: problems burning .wma files to CDR disks Hi all, I've just joined this list in order to see if any members can assist me in solving the following problem. I'm using a computer running windows XP as its OS which is also loaded with Office XP and Supernova Access Software. I am trying to burn files which have been downloaded to the computer on to CDS to play in a normal CD player. I thought the problem was that I was writing the files to CDRW disks, so I went out and purchased some CDR disks. However before that, I had tried to burn files onto CDRW disks using a trial of Nero burning Rom version 9 and the files had reached the disks although, at that time I was not certain that I was using the wrong disks. When I went to purchase Nero 9, the local PC world only had Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 in stock, so I have purchased that instead. However, even though I have converted the files I wish to put onto CDs from .MP3 to .WMA I can't seem to get them to burn to CDR, when as I said, they used to be able to be written to CDRW but I couldn't play them on a standard CD player. If anyone can work out what I am doing wrong please could you explain. Thank you in advance for any help, and please note that the files I wish to put on CD are files publicly available from the website of the church I attend, and I am recording them with the permission of members of the church purely for personal use. Yeah they are video files for phones. They are low resolution files so the picture quality is not as crisp as an MP4 file. I know several people who have baught or are going to be buying the Samsung, and two things that those people usually emntion is the nice keyboard and over 7 hours of use on a charge of the battery. However, if you look at the answer to question 3 on the Answers page that I sent the link for, you will hear the word "nontransferable" in the answer about the cost. This makes me think that the $99 price is just for a Talks license for this phone and cannot be transferred to another phone later. Mobile Speaks has a higher initial cost, but it can be transferred to a new phone when a better one comes along. If you have the Blackberry Tour 9630, you can wait for Orator for Blackberry to be released by Humanware. They say it will be released soon, but they don't say when, and they don't give a price. They say it will support all of the core Blackberry applications. This is the only Blackberry model they mention specifically in the information on their web site. A few months ago I started hearing talk of a Smart Phone that was fully accessible to blind people. This phone was from Verizon and contained the Talks program. The phone was a Motorola Q-9C and with the speech program cost $249 with a 2 year contract. According to Verizon, the Moto phone was the only one they offered that would do this. Of course I was eager to have a phone that would allow me complete access to all it had to offer. I was currently using the Env 2 and I could read and compose text messages, but as far as simple things like setting an alarm or leaving myself a note, and many other things, it just wouldn't happen. I purchased the phone and found it to work fairly well, but it had a few issues. It came with Pocket Word that wasn't accessible with the Talks program. This left me a bit frustrated because I wanted full use of all the features of this phone, and so I began to inquire of other types of phones and different speech programs. Through my searching, I discovered that the Talks program Verizon sells and on the Moto phone was not the fully functioning version of the program. I was able to return the Moto Q to Verizon for a full refund after hearing of a program called: Mobile Speaks. This program can be used on Smart Phones running Windows Mobile along with Pocket PC's. It works with several different service providers and costs about $300.00. I was able to purchase the Moto Q-9C from an individual and used the Mobile Speaks program for a 30-day trial to make sure I liked all it had to offer. This program works great, and I'm able to use features on a different new phone I've purchased which is called the Ozone from Verizon. I kept the Moto to use as a spare, but I wanted a brand-new phone. Since all of this, I found out that the Talks program, like Mobile Speaks is a fully functioning program, but doesn't work with as many smart phones and with as many carriers. I might also point out that when you purchase a Smart Phone from Verizon that has come out

Hi. There is a radio button with in the program in which you select after downloading. The option is to convert and then you select your file. Once that is done then select the format you want to convert to from the drop down box. When ready select ok and then confirm quality of vidwo. High, medium and low are the options. This option doesn't seem to be accessible when using Jaws or System Access so I hit ok to continue anyway. With the cursor on the link hit the right mouse button, numpad *. Arrow up until you hear "Download Video with Free Download manager". Hit enter. A dialog to create flash video download will then appear You will hear the URL Tab once and check the checkbox to automatically convert the downloaded video to the specified format if you want to download it as something besides a .flv file. If you want an .flv file leave the checkbox unchecked and tab to the OK button and hit enter. Tab once to the customize button. Enter to set up the first time if you want all downloads converted to the same thing evry time. There will be a list view for whatever format you want. mp3 is at the bottom of the list. Tab and it asks to change the size of the video. Since we are doing mp3 it doesn't matter where this is set. Tab and select the quality. Tab and there wil be a checkbox to check if what you have done is to be the default. Tab to OK and hit enter You will then be back to the original dialog Tab to OK and hit enter. The download will then start. A window will pop up showing the info about the download. I don't know if this link actually lets you download. Some videos may not be downloaded. It gave me the title of the piece but didn't do anything. It is still listed on the FDM program. But these are the steps to download the videos that you can download. Re: Problems Playing WMV and MOV Files
Hi. I tend to download the programs from the BBC to my phone for later viewing. I had installed the BBCI player to my phone and it's very accessible. You have the choice of streeming the recording or downloading it for later viewing. Now if every TV station other than the BBC offered this free service then I wouldn't even have a TV and the TV License wouldn't need to be renewed. - Original Message - From: "Ray" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Tuesday, November 03, 2009 4:45 PM Subject: Re: Problems Playing WMV and MOV Files Victoria, I was refering to the BBC's Iplayer TV catch up streams which I doubt are available outside of the UK. You do need a pretty fast connection to sustain TV streaming, particularly at the high definition rate which approaches broadcast quality here in the uK. I think it allows you to play material outside of the browser rather than the ebbeding imposed by web designers when using Quictime. there is a Wiki on Quicktime Alternative should you want to follow that up, but you seem to be getting along with QT. Must admit it's ages since I sued the IPlayer downloader. I just stream TV programmes now. Often wondered if it's possible to record the video as well as the sound while watching, but not looked into that. Do let us know if you have success getting downloaded programmes to play in WMP. Ray Caroline Ford wrote: Ray, I have at last managed to find a solution of sorts. A download of QuickTime for Windows has at least allowed me to play my MOV file. I am now re-downloading the WMV files in MOV format to be able to play those too as the WMV files still stubbornly refuse to play. I've read through the help on the iPlayer site but it didn't address the problem I have. I think no DRM licences are being downloaded although WMP is set to allow them. It is all rather frustrating, but at least I have found a workaround. As you say, QuickTime is not the most accessible player ever invented, but I have found enough keystrokes to make it usable. I don't think my situation was helped by me still having the old iPlayer Download Manager instead of the newer version. That just shows how long it is since I last tried to download anything from the iPlayer. Strangely enough it didn't even prompt me that I still had an obsolete version of the downloader on my PC and I only found out about it from the article you posted and then the iPlayer help. Definitely a work in progress. I wonder though if there is an extra DRM module or plug-in for Windows Media Player that would allow you to play these programs in WMP. The BBC itself might be prepared to answer this question. As an aside I'm rather surprised the Beeb hasn't closed the seeming loop hole where people are downloading radio programmes as that's not what is supposed to happen. there agreement with copyright holders is for 7 days streaming availability after a programme goes out. Still, a bit off the subject I know. Hope you get an answer to this Caroline and I see you've posted this issue on Access-UK so who knows, maybe an answer will yet surface there. Ray Caroline Ford wrote: Ray, Thank you for the advice. I have read the article but it doesn't seem to offer much help as to what the problem is. The files I am trying to play are downloaded programmes from the BBC iPlayer so they will have DRM protection. I have been able to stream a short sample of these programmes successfully just to make sure everything was working properly, and then proceeded to download the two versions on offer, one for portable players and one for Windows Media Player. Neither of these will play on my PC. I don't know whether there's something I need to do to allow Windows Media Player to play DRM files, but I have checked for updates and am already running version 11 with no updates on offer. Hi. I use to buy tracks from Tesco. I didn't have a problem burning them to disc. Why don't you try Express Burn. Another idea is to contact the Tesco downloads technical support team.
