accessible software to view 3000 television or radio stations?
Hi everyone, I had a sighted friend who showed me a program that allows you to view 3000 television and radio stations around the world. I think this is really cool. Does anyone know of an accessible software that would work with JAWS in viewing many of these channels? He says that the program he installed on a laptop computer is only usable with a mouse and not a keyboard. Any suggestions? Thanks for your assistance in this area. RE: Updating the VictorStream.
Hi Deb, If you wish to update the Victor Reader Stream, copy the file from your PC to your memory card. Put the card into the Stream, turn it on and plug your stream into a wall outlet while it does the update. It will tell you that it is updating. It will shut off after it is updated. The file is deleted when you turn the stream off. The latest version of the firmware is 3.0. For NLS books, the authorization key is stored on a chip with the stream. The authorization key matches the model of the stream. It is not necessary to copy the key to another card for reading NLS books that you have downloaded. For reading books from rfb&d, copy the files from the CD to the memory card. The authorization key is obtained from them by emailing or calling them and a CD is sent to you giving instructions of how to download the key for your Victor Reader Stream. For any questions you may have regarding the stream, there is a support list for that. If you need subscription information, write me back and let me know. Hi: I have a really stupid question! I no that I must copy the update file onto the SD card and put it in and let the stream do its thing, but do I need to put the update file on a new card when I switch SD cards? Can I delete the update file off the card after the update installs? Because I know with the NLS authorization, that needs to be put on each card, right? Thanks, Deb. radio station applications that works with JAWS and Window-eyes

RE: radio station applications that works with JAWS and Window-eyes
Hi everyone, Let me make this a little clearer for everyone. I am sorry that I wrote this message in a hurry. I do a volunteer service at Cincinnati Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired as a volunteer reader. I am looking at a possibility to get some training on running their board in terms of audio engineering work. One of the things I will be doing is announcing the weather forecast, letting listeners know what is next in the program, and who the readers are for the program that will be airing or put in a live broadcast mode. Currently they use Adobe audio station. Sorry I do not remember the exact name. They have installed Window-eyes on their computer. I believe a second sound card was installed so that I can monitor things as it is being broadcast over the air. We are streaming content on the Internet live as well as through special radio receiver provided free to any blind persons in the Cincinnati area to listen to magazines, newspapers, interviews, and other programming. This is a radio reading service that I am connected with. This station is a 24-hours-a-day operation using volunteers to run the board at various times throughout the day. When no one is there, it is set up to play content unattended when the agency is closed for business. The schedule is online for anyone to view the information and you can listen to it live on the internet. The web address is www.cincyblind.org. You do not need a username and password to use the service. There are some content that is usually recorded and stored on the internet for a certain period of time for people to download these files as mp3 files. They can listen to it on the computer, stored on a memory card to play on portable mp3 devices, and so on. On some occasions, audio CD is made for individual who request it so that they can critique their skills in reading with their voices on the air. I had this done at least twice so far. I even had an interview with a friend of mine and it was played on the air at a later time. Some recording is done in advance before it is needed to play on the air. I wear headphone to monitor when the engineer is ready for me to start going on the air. I have 2 other volunteer readers with me in which we take turns reading articles on the air. Because of NFB Newsline Online service, I am able to get my paper early in the morning before leaving for work. I store the paper on a memory card and read the paper on the air in Braille using the PacMate Braille display with Braille keyboard. I hope to use a Braille display with computer when doing audio work as well especially if I have to read schedule information, weather information, or anything that may be important for listeners to know about especially weather emergency information. At home I use Winamp as my player and I use Windows media player to rip CDs, and use a CD burner on occasion for data and audio CDs. I have done very little work on audio recording at home but hope to work on that in the near future. I use Windows 7 at home with JAWS 12 but are planning to upgrade to JAWS 13 very soon. I don't have Window-eyes demo installed on this machine but plan to do that so that I can train myself in using that software. I also use System Access as a service when I want to get easier access to internet-based content such as audio described movies, electronic books, and the like. I hope this helps. -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Christopher Wright Sent: Thursday, September 13, 2012 8:19 AM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: radio station applications that works with JAWS and Window-eyes If you're refering to internet radio, you can use either WinAmp or Station Playlist Studio. help with easy media creator 7.
Hi everyone, I bought myself a new computer HP Pavillion 3.0ghz machine with 512mb RAM and have expanded it to 1gb of RAM with 160GB hard drive plus an external 120GB hard drive with Windows XP Home Edition. I bought Easy Media Creator 7 a couple of days ago and found it to be inaccessible. I am using Jaws 5.0 with Elloquence. This machine had RecordNow which I thought was inaccessible for making CDs for both data and audio. Does anyone have suggestions? I hope I don't have to take it back to exchange for another program. Easy CD Creator Basic 5 ran on my Windows 98 machine unfortunately, I do not have a copy on CD-ROM so that I can install it on another machine. I look forward to hearing from everyone soon. converting audio cd to mp3 format.
Hi everyone, I am beginning to learn about converting audio cd to mp3 format. I have the following players: Windows Media Player version 9, Real One Player version 2, Winamp version 5, and Easy CD Creator version 6. I am using Windows Xp Home with Jaws for Windows version 5. Can someone give me a step by step instruction as to how to do it properly. Will I have to enter each individual track, album, as well as artist and copyright information? I noticed that Winamp and Real One Player gives me these type of information. I am not certain of Windows Media Player. I look forward to everyone's responses. Re: converting audio cd to mp3 format.
Hi Chris, I finally figured out how to convert an audio CD to mp3 format by using Easy CD Creator version 6. Easy CD Creator version 6 have a feature that allows you to put an audio CD into computer, gets the information from the database with the information, under the track menu convert audio and it brings up a dialog box in which you select what bit rates to use. I was selecting one track and found that the conversion was very fast. I did the same thing selecting multiple tracks and it took the original names of the other files and I told it to use the same bit rates as the other. I was told by a couple of people to select 128kbps for near CD quality music. At least I didn't have to download any additional software to rip my first audio CD. - Original Message - From: "Chris Skarstad" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Actually, the version number is 5.03 on the new one, and the only thing different about the free version is that it restricts you to burning and ripping cds at 2 x speed, whereas the pro version doesn't have any restrictions.
