Opportunity to Provide Feedback About Winamp Accessibility

2009-03-16 Thread Steve Pattison
Hi all,

During an interview in the March edition of FSCast - the Freedom
Scientific podcast - it was mentioned that people are welcome to send
feedback about the accessibility of Winamp to AOL. They couldn't
promise when any accessibility issues would be fixed but at least they
seem open to receiving feedback. Messages should be sent to AOL at
aolaccessibil...@aol.com.

Hi.
well, our set top box on the way out.
went to record 24 , but found out that the machine starts recording after
midnight and not before.
so only got 5 minutes.
and got a teach, with a twin tuner, and a hard disk.
and now, what brand of stet top boxes, do you use, and could recommend any
good models, so i could purchase one?
and a twin stereo tuner, big hard disk, and easy to use, as my folks are not
very technically minded.
so some thing easy to use.
any ideas or where i could purchase one?
good, bad or the ugly.
and people's own experiences with using this type of equipment.

ps: and is it workth getting a high definition.
model.
think we have a high definition tv, but not sure.

Question about the Enqueue in Winamp feature and very cheap but usable Sound USB cards

2009-03-16 Thread Kathy Szinnyey
Hey, gang! Is it possible to move stuff around in the playlist editor if
you don't like the order the tracks are being played in? Or do I have to
start from scratch? The way I have been building playlists is to find a
file, use the applications menu, and just enqueue everything there and save
the resulting playlist. But I can't find a way to move those items around
if I don't like the order.

My other question is about a cheap USB soundcard for my Asus so I can run
JAWS through it. I know this was brought up recently but I deleted a lot of
emails and I don't know how to get into the Pc-audio archives and I don't
remember the password to use. Hmmm . . . could someone let me know? I saw
an ad about a Turtle Island tiny sound card but have no idea how useful it
would be. I appreciate your help!

Peace,
Kathy

RE: Winamp Version 5.551 is now Available

2009-03-16 Thread anthony tom
Hi, I think I've found something that's broken in winamp 5.551. it has to do
with the sqrsoft output crossfading plug-in. When I tried to use it, I hear
no audio coming through it. Well ... that's not entirely true, since what I
really hear is something like a digital feedback. When I click the configure
button, winamp 5.551 generates an error. Any ideas? And oh yeah! That pesty
crash when one tries to use the library, is that still around? It seems so
to me! Oh how I wish to be able to use the winamp library again!

Re: Question about the Enqueue in Winamp feature and very cheap butusable Sound USB cards

2009-03-16 Thread Roger Stewart
You can indeed either edit or create a playlist in Notepad. Just be
careful to save it with the extension .m3u instead of .txt and winamp
will play it! There's also a nifty little program I use called
dirlist. If you have a folder containing music files and they are in
the order you want them played you just select (highlight but not open)
the folder and then do a send to dirlist. (you should paste a shortcut
to dirlist into the sendto folder) This makes a .txt file of the
contents of the folder. You just need to backspace out the title line
and then change the file extension to .m3u and you're good to go! You
can of course always just cut and paste the names of tracks around in a
playlist file to put them in the order you wish them to play.

USB headsets in conjunction with multiple sound cards

2009-03-16 Thread Joy Tilton
In consideration of a possible new headset for the pc, and recently checking
out a USB headphone, I heard that the headset, when connected to the pc,
disables the speakers. However, I'm seeing this on a pc with just one sound
card.
Is there a way, when working with multiple sound cards, to determine which
sound card you wish to hear through the head set, or does it play both sound
cards through there, and are both sound devices disabled where speakers are
concerned?

Joy,
Lessed you are using a piece I am not familliar with, USB headsets act
as their own soundcards, not as relays for other soundcards. That function,
as far as I know, can be done with "Virtual audio repeater" (Google it).

You can move files up and down in the Winamp playlist with alt+up arrow and
alt+down arrow. You can also use the jump to feature by
pressing the letter J, searching for the track you want and tabbing to move
