Re: accessible software to view 3000 television or radio stations?
Hi Lisa, You might wish to try JLC's Internet TV. You can get it from www.jlc-software.com/index.php?page=internet_tv.html It works well with JAWS and on the page it states: JLC's Internet TV is a FREE program for watching and browsing thousands of TV channels freely available on the internet. It's probably the biggest and most up to date database of channels ever, and users are able to submit, rate and flag channels. And with the new flagging and rating system you'll easily see which channels works and which is worth to watch and our goal is to bring you the best online TV experience out there! Re: trying to listen to this station
Randy Here is the audio link for this station: www.939online.com/cc-common/streaming_new/index.html?refreshed=yes As it turns out, this one is easy as it is a station that's part of the Clear Channel extended family of stations. -- Currently, all these stations, those that stream, append the following suffix to their main website address: /cc-common/streaming_new/index.html?refreshed=yes And I just verified that they indeed are streaming at the time I am writing this. GoldWave and JAWS freeze up
Hi all, I have an older computer, Dell Dimension, probably almost ten years old. I just installed Windows 98 SE, JAWS 5.0, and GoldWave 4.26. The machine is networked using a dLink wireless and wired router. I am using GoldWave to record my vinyl from a stereo receiver and turntable. Sometimes it will work a long time, but somtimes the whole thing freezers up after 5 or 10 minutes. Any idea what to look for? Thanks for any suggestions. Howard K. Re: trying to listen to this station
A note for those living outside the U. S. If you have had occasion to attempt to stream a Clear Channel station but found it impossible, where you live might be the reason why. Clear Channel blocks non U. S. residents from listening to all of their streams including HD2 stations. To my knowledge, they are the only radio station streaming company who impose this restriction. If you notice "CC Tuner as part of the stream's url and you live outside the States, you will be excluded. Needless to say, I am not a big Clear Channel fan. Re: trying to listen to this station
Larry Well, as you are Canadian, I can see why you wouldn't be a CC fan given that they lock you out. What I do like about Clear Channel are two things: (1) They have made a concerted effort to get a good number of stations streaming (2) They use a consistent url structure so it is easy to confirm whether or not a given station streams. More and more companies are adopting this approach which, I view, as a positive. Hi back List, is there anyone out there that has actually used this TV Web program and viewed shows or movies without hassle? How does it work? Do you download the TV program and then waht? Does it cause any troubles with Jaws, Magic or Open book or any other programs? This sounds good, and what are the cost of it all? I read somewhere clear channel is about to be purchased. I also contacted a uk station once about not being able to listen online anymore. They told e about the non resident restriction, then gave me a new link. You might try emailing the station you are trying to listen to and see if they can do the same. Re: trying to listen to this station
You're right Mike, those sound like positives and if I lived where you do, I would probably view them more in the same light. Still, , as you said, I do live in Canada, so I've blocked by the company from experiencing those advantages firsthand. To me, Clear Channel is a company that chooses to shut non-Americans out when it comes to listening, and for a lot of us, that's where it begins and ends. But I'm probably not the most positive person to speak on the subject of commercial radio. These days, whether it comes to streaming or to listening off line, I find that XM is my choice more often than not. Right now I'm listening to the Cubs game with a lot more clarity than I would receive from MLB.com. Unfortunately, today the quality of the broadcast is much higher than the quality of the game, but you can't win 'em all. Yeah, but windows media player takes way too long, typical microsoft: it has to "initialize and get the files ready for copying!" Of course, with real player, it takes about a quorter of the time... Re: accessible software to view 3000 television or radio stations?
The program is free. You just download it from www.jlc-software.com/index.php?page=internet_tv.html and install it. For JAWS users: 1. Launch the program. 2. Shift-tab to the combo box of countries. 3. Down arrow to the country you want. 4. Tab once to the list of stations in that country. 5. Down arrow to the station you want and press enter. Wait 30 seconds or so for it to load. Note that not all stations are on air 24/7, so some might not work when you try them. 6. When focussed on a station in the list, you can press the application key for more options, such as to go to their home page. I hope this helps. Yes, it is. From: DJ DOCTOR P [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list pc-audio@pc-audio.org I wish to convert a batch of ape files with Switch. JLC's Internet TV was: accessible software to view 3000 television or radio stations?
I use JLC's Internet TV with Jaws. Sometimes it is hard to get Jaws focused in the right area. Understanding the layout of the screen helps. I wish it used the control tab or f6 to switch tabs. Instead, I need to use the jaws cursor a lot to switch areas. It's free but it installs a "community toolbar". It won't work if you uninstall the toolbar and you can not choose not to install the toolbar in the first place. It does have system wide hot keys but you need to turn on numlock to make it work. Have no other issues with Jaws or my computer so far. I made a big boo-boo!
I recorded a wave file, standard ready-for-CD-type wave file parameters, but I wasn't watching the clock and let it run over 2gb in size (ran to 2.28gb to be exact). Now, when I want to open it in Sound Forge Version 7, I get an error that tells me it can't do it. Is it because the file is too big? Was this fixed in Version 8? Should I use a file-splitter to cut it down to manageable sized pieces, and if so, which one? Or will some other editor handle a big file like this properly, and if so, which one? Thanks in advance. Re: I made a big boo-boo!
Hi Uncle Steve, Hope all's well and fine with ya. To answer your question, yes, SF6 does have limitations of opening up wav files for more than 2 gigs. If you want to use SF to open files more than 2 gigs, u got to go for SF9D and above. Hope it helps.
