Re: Strange problem

Hi,

Strange problem and I don't know what could be causing it but maybe
you could try deleting it from a DOS prompt? You'd need to go to the
Start Menu and press r for run, then type command and press Enter.
Then if you're using JAAWS press JAWS s a few times to change screen
echo to all. Now here's the thing I'm afraid I can't remember the
command for deleting but if you google dos commands you should find
it.

Let us know how you get on.

dvd ripper and all music converter

2008-01-23 Thread Kathy Szinnyey
Hi, listers! When I use these two programs, often the conversions to
mp3 come out with weird stutters in them, or skips, or things I can't quite
describe. I always turn off all other programs as these two converter
programs tell you to do, but I still run into this annoying situation. Any
ideas? Or are these programs just a bit shabby? Smile.

Peace,

2008-01-23 Thread Brandon Hicks
Hi,

For getting DVDs, I'd suggest DVD Decrypter. It can be found on the web,
make sure you get the older version and don't check for updates. If you
just want the audio from them, DVD Audio Extractor is wonderful and I've
never had problems with it.

As for music conversion, I personally use Gold Wave, because it can use
the Lancer OGG encoders. If you're converting from MP3, CDex is a nice
program. Much faster, but encoding to AAC and such formats is somewhat
trying.

My problem is that I want to convert rax files, which are those pesky
Real files that are drm protected, and wma drm protected files as well. The
only program I know that will convert those to mp3 is all music converter.
If there's another one out there, I'd be happy to try it! I'm not sure
that Goldwave or cdex will do what' I'm looking for. If only there was one
cool format for audio. Heavy sigh!

Hi
Well, as long as you have the license for the WMA files, you can use the
diskwriter plug-in in Winamp if you have that to write wav files, then
convert them to mp3 or whatever with CDex. As for Real files, I have no
idea. I've never even installed Real Player. Possibly something like
Tunebyte when selected as the sound card in Real might do it a bit
better, never used that either but I know it's out there.

sound taxi should convert the WMA files. I believe it actually re-writes them
to a
new file.
there is another program that writes a new file when you play the music in real
time, but the name escapes me at the moment. do a google search for cracking
DRM
files and you should find it.

Radio Wizard

2008-01-23 Thread Robert Carter
Hi,

I am a big fan of and a registered user of Applian Technologies
Replay AV. It is very accessible and an impressive suite of audio
recording software.

A couple of days ago, I saw a program on the applian.com site called
Radio Wizard which is suppose to allow you to have TIVO like
recording and playback capability for streaming internet radio. I
downloaded and installed the program. Unlike the other Applian
software that I have used, Radio Wizard did not work well at all with
my Window-Eyes screen reader. The interface did not seem very
accessible because even after labeling the graphics the buttons did
not speak. I decided to uninstall the program. After a reboot when
the uninstall process was complete, my Window-Eyes came up silent. I
discovered that the Radio Wizard uninstallation had somehow corrupted
my Eloquence speech engine. Uninstalling and Reinstalling Eloquence
did not fix the problem. I had to use system restore to roll my
system back to an earlier time to get Eloquence working again.

I was wondering whether or not anybody has had success with this
Radio Wizard software. It seems like a nice idea but be careful if
you decide to try it.

I don't see a lot of difference between this and ReplayAV. I wonder if it's
something old that they aren't developing any more?

Re: Radio Wizard

2008-01-23 Thread Robert Carter
Hi,

The difference that I saw was that Radio Wizard buffers like a TIVO
so that you can pause a show and listen to a song again or record it
for future use and things like that. I don't think you can really do
exactly that kind of TIVO type stuff with Replay AV. If I am wrong,
please correct me.

Thanks,

Robert

Re: My Cd drive is messed up

2008-01-23 Thread Tyler Wood
Ok, a few questions.

1. Have you tried playing the cd manually?
2. Have you tried burning the cd manually?
Have you tried to do anything else manually? It may be that something messed
up, but not with your hardware. (I hated that diologue, anyway).

mixer and some radio show help?

2008-01-23 Thread Tyler Wood
Hi,

I've been listening to someones radio show and they mentioned in there about
they got a new mixer. What exactly is a mixer and how does it work? I'm using
sam broadcaster, and am trying to get this here radio show running smoothly.
What programs do you guys recommend? And is there a way for me to patch in
skype calls via my soundcard without this thing echoing like hell...its getting
a bit annoying (Someone will call. I'll be like ok, we have a call here. Most
people have speakers, which is really annoying, but anyway, I say hi, blah
blah, but when they speak, i get horrible loopback. Not sure what to do about
this). I have a few choices as to soundcards. One desktop has a SiS 7018, this
laptop, which I use most of the time, just has a connecsant, and my other
desktop has an SB live.. They all have stario mix, and sometime or other I plan
on seeing which sounds the best, but what other factors come into play here?
ram, processor speed? I'd like to be able to play a song and talk at the same
time- I heard you can't do that in winamp?

Thanks,
Tyler

RE: mixer and some radio show help?

2008-01-23 Thread Stephen Guerra
You can do that, but you need multiple sound cards, one for the music, one
for skype, and you bring them in on different channels of the mixer,
adjusting their respective volumes and you on the mixer use a microphone
either with a quarter inch connection or a XLR connection which is the
preferred way.

You can locate a mixer which has 4 channels, which would be ideal for your
situation, and what show are you listening too and what is yours and where
would someone be able to find it

There's nothing wrong with this behavior. When you install a data file, open
My Computer from the desktop. Then, when you arrow around, you'll find a
listing for your CD drive. Click on it to see all the files displayed, as
you would with any other drive on your system.

Re: mixer and some radio show help?

My radio show is at
http://wolftech.redirectme.net:8000

Ok, what are these different kinds of connections? I currently have a
headset/mic connection, (I hate it) and will soon be getting a mic that
plugs directly into my soundcard. I don't have a mixer, because, can you
explain to me exactly what they look like and what there used for?

thanks
Tyler

PS: the radio show I was listening to is Brandon Hix "Heavily Influenced".

Its on TBRN (http://www.tbrn.net), i love that kind of music, though I'm
stil in the process of looking for a good file sharing utility (bear share
is really retarded with the later versions of jaws, etc).

Go into my computer. Click on the cd drive icon. Now you'll get a list of
