Nah, you won't find that on a USB headset. I've used a few, mostly logitech and Plantronics, and I've yet to see one that provides any way to record the stereo mix. update on recording problems.
Hi all! I'm now using my default sound card, (an Avance C97), a cheap mic, and a pair of standard headphones. I have freecorder set to also record from the microphone. The problem, however, seems to be with my stereo mix option. I can't seem to keep it selected. Every time I check the box to select it, I find that it has been unchecked when I return to the window. I believe that herein lies the problem. How can I keep that box checked? I think selecting it will allow me to record from both my mic and the sound card, as I don't have a what you hear option. Re: Re[2]: problem recording skype calls with freecorder
Wow! I wonder if this is a problem of USB audio devices in general as my USB is the only mic I have worth using. Skype is better done with a headset anyways, and recording it probably would be a bear with USB without a virtual audio driver solution. - Original Message - From: "Patrick Perdue" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: update on recording problems.
You need a program like Quickmix. I forget where to get it though, but it allows you to save your volume settings in a file and make that a desktop shortcut and then into a hotkey. The problem of using Skype with stereo mix would come because people aren't used to hearing themself back at a delay after they speak, and if you do a conference with a third person, they will be really echoed and you would sound echoed to them, I think. Once a friend put his card on what you hear and went away for a bit but I couldn't hear well through the echo mess good enough to talk to the other person that was still around. - Original Message - From: "Allison Mervis" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "'PC audio discussion list. Reduce or remove 50 hz hum.
Hello! I have a wave file with a radio show i recorded. I recorded it from my fm-receiver and there is a grounding hum in the background. I have tried to use the soundforge 8 equalizer and goldwave equalizer to put som hum reductionon the file. Its a 50 hz hum. Has anybody any thoughts on how to set the equalizer or high lowpass or bandpass filters to make the hum go away? /Anders. ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This list is a service of MosenExplosion.com. Re: update on recording problems.
Yes, I know what your problem is now. I just had the same problem last night. Go into Skype, go to the tools menu, go to the options menu. Now choose the sound devices tab, and under that tab uncheck the checkbox that says "let Skype set my sound devices". If that is checked Skype will ignore the fact that you have checked something different and put you back to having the mike checked. If you don't let Skype control your audio the box you check will stay checked. Now, also be sure that you tab on over to the save button and save the change before coming out of that menu. - Original Message - From: "Allison Mervis" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "'PC audio discussion list. Re: Iriver T30 text or html manual please
Thanks, I realize the product is limited in many ways. Basically, I purchased it to listen to music and some books while travelling. I also download music to the T30 and play it through a stereo in another part of the house. The unit was not expensive--about half the original price so hopefully it will serve as a stopgap until an accessible unit with FM radio is produced. Thanks for taking time to reply. RE: update on recording problems.
I've done that, but that hasn't helped. I now have virtual audio cable installed, but I fail to see how that will help. Thanks! Re: update on recording problems.
VAC could help record Skype in 2 ways. First, it puts the caller and you on isolated virtual sound cards, and also the drivers have the ability to be recorded from by more than one program at a time like a virtual splitter. Their audio repeater allows audio to be routed to and from the real sound card such that JFW or any other sounds wouldn't get in the call or recording or the caller hearing himself fed back. You could then use the mic selection as normal. If you had Outlook, not the express one but the one with the calendar and stuff that Office gives you, you don't have to set up this mess on every reboot or time you want to record Skype. The VAC idea isn't so bad if things could be started and stopped easily, but the repeater has to be run in 2 or 3 instances to tie it all together and it isn't really possible to have start on boot. - Original Message - From: "Allison Mervis" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'PC audio discussion list. Cool! Thanks! Sounds doable, but I'm going to look into skylook too, at least the trial. Re: update on recording problems.
Hey Allison, I'm starting to test Skype recording with Total Recorder 6.0. This newest version seems to handle its virtual sound drivers much better. They seem less obtrusive. I'm having some preliminary success and will let everyone know how it goes. Darrell Shandrow - Shandrow Communications! Technology consultant/instructor, network/systems administrator!
