Re: Audio DVD
Hi David. I normally back-up my mp3 files onto DVD Disks, using Easy CD Creator. Can't say exactly, but I get about 14 albums onto one DVD. Not sure about WAV, as I mainly deal with MP3's, but perhaps someone more experienced will advise you about this. Incidentally, making a back up of all your stuff within My Documents onto a DVD is quite a good idea, as it saves having all those CD's. Best wishes. Does DVD Need To Be Converted?
Hi, listers! I am sorry for not knowing the appropriate terminology to put my question in. In the days of VCR, when we would get a video-tape from UK or South Africa, we use to convert it to a different system prior to watching it here in USA. Similarly, they had to convert it to their system when they got a video tape from us before they could watch it. I don't know what these systems are called, something like, NTS to Pal or something similar. My question is, do we still have to do similar conversion if we get or send dvd to or from UK or South Africa, before playing this DVD on our DVD-Player? I could be wrong, but I was thinking that with so much advancement in video-technology, the need for conversion is simply eliminated! I'm very sorry if I sound confusing and vague. Thanks much! Accessible and reliable program for saving and burning DVD images
Does anyone know of an even somewhat accessible program that I can use to reliably save an image of a DVD to hard disk and then burn copies. I've got Cyberlink PowerToGo preinstalled on this system. Is not accessible, but with my wife's help I managed to save an image. Unfortunately, burning the image always fails even after following all their trouble shooting tips. I'm reluctant to go for Nero; it's so expensive ... maybe its worth it though. Other thoughts anyone? hi. Actually this is a very good thing for 2 reasons. Firstly and most importantly, it shows that the program is under very active development. This is good news because if something goes wrong, you can write to the developer and you have a snowball's chance in hell of getting a reply. Secondly, lots of people, including Steve who likes and uses the program, just wants everybody to know that a new version is available. The only down side to all of this is that when a new version comes out, it's a common practice for people to freak out and worry that the program will no longer work with their screenreader. Sometimes that happens, and sometimes the reverse is true and the program works even better. I believe Steve uses Betanews.com, which allows you to have what they call a watch list of your favorite programs. Every time a new version of a particular program comes out, you are sent an e-mail about it. That's what I believe Steve sends to the list. If I'm incorrect in any way I'm sure Steve will pop in and correct me. Deleting silence between tracks in a folder
Hi, all. I have a bunch of folders with Mp3 files. When I play them on my PC or on a device like a Bookport, there are silences between the tracks. How can I get those out? Would that have to be done through settings on Winamp or whatever I'm using on my PC to listen to them, or is there a way I can do that with Sound Forge or Total Recorder? I don't want them all merged into one file, I just want to have a more seamless flow to them. Any help, as always, is much appreciated. Automatic DJ will do that for you. Simply load all of your songs into the play list and you will be off to the races. Once all of the songs have played the program goes back to the top of the list and starts all over again. The program will run indefinitely until such time that it is stopped. Hi, DVD players play DVD discs dependent on a region code. I have heard some players do not matter which region code a DVD is and I have heard roomer of software to strip a region code. Scheduling with Total Recorder
Hey listers, I am attempting to schedule my first TR recording. I think I'm on the right track as far as the set-up, but I'm stuck on the mini-browser. So, I guess what I need to know is once I pull up the link to start the stream on the web site, what do I do next? I'm sure it's something simple, but I'm just not finding it. Also, is there a better way to schedule the playing of a stream besides using the TR mini-browser? I'm using XP with Jaws 7. I never use that mini-browser. I couldn't make it work. Assuming you can identify the Url of the sound you want to record, copy it to the clipboard from your usual browser. Now, in the schedule dialog, don't check the box you checked, rather, check the one that says to run a program at the appropriate time. In the resulting edit box paste the Url you copied. hi, dvd's don't use pal or ntsc, i don't think. it's simply region codes. however, i could be wrong about this. i do remember reading about some dvd's on amazon and they still list the format as ntsc, so i'm not completely sure. Chris is correct. I also check the Poikosoft home page daily for updates. I learn about new versions of audio software mainly from www.betanews.com and www.majorgeeks.com. Actually I'm obsessed with updating software and like to keep up with the latest versions of programs but if the version you are currently using meets your needs and you are happy with it there probably isn't any need to update the program. Hi Dean, it seems as though I am not able to get the URL, as it is a Real stream and Real Player starts when I click on the listen link. So, I am now wondering how this can be done without using the mini-browser and without being able to get the URL. I am thinking that I can do this by scheduling Real Player to start streaming, if that is even possible, then schedule Total Recorder to start recording at the appropriate time. I know this is possible, I'm just not putting it all together at this juncture. BTW, I am a Sound Computing subscriber.
