Hi,

How did you manage this?

I thought we had only 2 arms LOL I hope you get on with the program this
program in no way replaces textaloud for me but it does make mp3 files very
fast and they seem to be small files and the quality is good all the best.

Podcast receiving software.

2006-05-22 Thread Jim Noseworthy
Hi Folks:

I am looking for a podcast receiver in which scheduling for individual
podcasts is possible. Juice does have scheduling capabilities; however, as
far as I know, the scheduling applies to all podcasts.

Any help would be appreciated all over the place gang.

hi all,
I ran biblos yesterday to see how it did. It uses jaws version of eloquence,
but there are more pauses. does anyone know why that is? it sounds like via
voice. Also, I ran a pretty big file. It gave me an mp3 of about the first
hour then it just kind of stopped, however it like totally ate up my
processor all night. As a contrast, i ran conversions of 5 books, around 1
mb each, and kurzweil spit out numbered files of about 15 mins each in
length, and it took about 3 hours total, with books taking anywhere from 10
to 25 minutes each, and it didn't even take anything away from my programs.
I'd say to use that program for the conversions if you have it and use the
high quality files, which put the mp3's at 32 kbps 22.5 khz.

Re: External Sound Cards

2006-05-22 Thread Jerry Richer
Andy! Sound Cards, whether internal or external have nothing to do
with amplifiers and speakers. The Sound Card just provides a line level
signal appropriate for an amplifier to boost enough to power speakers. Do
you mean something like a USB sound system that would effectively include a
sound card, amplifier and speakers? If so, then the sky is the limit and
they get as professional as you could want.

fooling winamp

2006-05-22 Thread Brandon Hicks
hi all,
I want to convert all my mp3 music to aac+. Winamp has a couple encoders to
do it with, but they're not as good as the one built into the winamp library
for ripping cd's. I was wondering if there's a way to fool the library into
thinking i've got a huge audio cd when it's just my mp3 collection, or if
anyone knows of any other encoders that'll work without providing a bunch of
garbage options and converting into weird bitrates and that.
thanks

Re[4]: txt2mp3

2006-05-22 Thread djc
I ran it with different books and it seemed to convert just fine here and I
note no pauses but then again I have the speech rate fairly fast. I also
have quite a fast machine and that may make some difference. I think it's
cool the feller is giving away free codes. It's a great little full
featured editor. While parts of the program are in Italian most functions
are understandable so that shouldn't be a problem for you. You can
translate material in to quite a number of languages and that is impressive
in itself so I can write a letter in English here and translate it in to
German or Spanish as an mp3 and the speech will speak the text in the
chosen language. I have several other conversion programs such as Text
Aloud and Saypad but this one here is one of the fastest I've used for
converting. I am quite impressed with this tool and I do recommend it.

gold wave vs sound forge

2006-05-22 Thread Denny Daughters
Hi guys,
Right now I use a basic sound editor called Fast Edit. I find it useful
for doing what I need to get done. When I bought it about 3 years ago, I
wanted something I'd used before and I didn't want to learn a whole new
program.
I've looked at goldwave and sure it's much more powerful with effects,
de-popping records, batch conversion to any formats, that kind of thing. I
don't like the editing interface, how you can't hear right where that final
bracket drops. I suppose I can get used to it. The price of gold wave is
tempting, sound forge on the other hand costs more and that's really all I know
about it. What do you all like and or dislike about goldwave and soundforge?
Thanks.

Re: Re[4]: txt2mp3

2006-05-22 Thread Brandon Hicks
hi
I finally got it working. I agree it's quite featured. It could be just how
it's configured by default and I haven't figured out how to change it yet. A
question, when you do the test of the voice, does it sound exactly like
jaws? because it doesn't on mine. something in the trebble sounds different
as if it's at a different hz rate. If this doesn't happen to you, it
explains why my speech has a viavoice like sound.
I'll try it again with a smaller book and see how it goes. i think my
machine is fairly fast, it's certainly not slow.

Re: gold wave vs sound forge

2006-05-22 Thread Anders Holmberg
HellO!
I am using goldwave when recording.
I like the way it shows how long it has recorded and if things are beening
recorded.
Soundforge is more powerful in some cases.
THe noise reduction and pop removing for example.
Though this feature is a plugin which also costs alot of money.
Soundforge has a very good reverb but if you have Goldwave you can download
the freeverb plugin which you can install and use within goldwave.
I also use a free editor called audacity which has a very good pitch
feature.
Goldwaves pitch sounds awful to me and soundforge sonds a bit better.
But Audacity is great for small editing.

Re[6]: txt2mp3

2006-05-22 Thread djc
Under the options there are different tabs and one of them is text to
speech. There are a few sliders. One controls the rate and one controls the
pich and one controls the volume of the voice. Also you can change the
voices.

Re: Podcast receiving software.

2006-05-22 Thread Chris Skarstad
Hi Jim
Why would you want scheduling for individual podcasts?
With Juice, you do have the ability to check each individual feed for
new shows. I've been listening to Podcasts for almost a year now,
and I haven't found a single podcast that comes out at exactly the
same time every week, or every day on a consistant basis. It's just
the way podcasts seem to be. You may get the shows on the same day
and within the same hour or so, but not at the same time every single
time. So for individual shows, you should check each individual feed
using juice, or go to the podcast's website and download the latest
shows instead.

Re: fooling winamp

2006-05-22 Thread Brandon Hicks
hi
basically because aac+ is smaller file size than mp3. i think also that it
has smaller file sizes than ogg, or better quality at lower bitrates. I
can't really test that though because the settings on the faac encoder are
screwy. I want to test to see which sounds better at smaller bitrates to my
ears. I only have a 256 mb cf card. I don't want to go out and get another
one because the rental pm goes back during the summer so it's a waste of my
money, but i'm all about having the least amount of drive space taken up, so
i'd probably keep the aac+ files for use in winamp.

Yes, StationPlaylist is 100% accessible. Turn down the volume using the
volume control utility in Windows. If you want to turn the volume of the
music down when you turn your mike on, this can be configured in Studio's
options.

I'm familiar with Sound Forge, but, I'm not sure if I like 8 well enough to

But if you're converting the MP3, you're not doing any kind of a fair
test. Your converted file will have a lower sound quality, guaranteed.

hi all,
I want to convert all my mp3 music to aac+. Winamp has a couple encoders to
do it with, but they're not as good as the one built into the winamp library
for ripping cd's. I was wondering if there's a way to fool the library into
thinking i've got a huge audio cd when it's just my mp3 collection, or if
anyone knows of any other encoders that'll work without providing a bunch of
garbage options and converting into weird bitrates and that.
thanks

Re: Nero

2006-05-22 Thread nick danger
Hi Bruce,

The version I use is nero ultra 6.16. It's the most accessible of the bunch
if you are going to be combining it with DVD shrink.

Re: gold wave vs sound forge

2006-05-22 Thread Gary Wood
Hi Denny! I like Soundforge because of all the effects that it has, as well
as really enjoy the noisereduction plug-in, and I also like the ability to
pitch shift with it!
