I wish to record some MP3 files off the internet using Goldwave. I have a conexant amc audio card. While I can record using a microphone, I cannot figure out how to record "what I hear." A good alternative to Juce as a podcatcher?
Hi folks. I have been using Juice a while for catching podcasts, however when it started redownloading episodes i already had listened to time and time again, i decided to drop it and now i'm on the lookout for a good podcatcher. Anyone have any suggestions? I have checked out Replay AV, but i'm not sure it's what i want. It's cool to be able to record things off the internet, but i thought that the podcatcher part in it was rather clumcy. I couldn't find a way to check out older shows and download them, a thing you could do in Juice. So i wonder if anyone has any suggestions to give? -- /Krister ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This list is a service of MosenExplosion.com. FW: Bad Words for JAWS: Patch Released - Fred's Head Companionarticle
Hi, This message is sent to me privately. Haven't you received this? I don't know about this. I really have no idea what is it all about. I hope if ever this is true, this post would become a warning. -Original Message- From: MICHAEL MCCARTY [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, March 31, 2006 4:49 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Bad Words for JAWS: Patch Released - Fred's Head Companionarticle Watch your in-box for emails from either [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] This address is sending out messages to email lists that contain misspelled words that cause JAWS and Magic to crash. When a specific misspelling or typo of the word "seizure" and "have" is encountered by the Eloquence or ViaVoice synthesizer, the synthesizer will quit. This can result in loss of speech and an error dialog. JAWS and MAGic use Eloquence as the default software synthesizer. OpenBook uses ViaVoice and is not effected. To minimize the risk of the misspellings affecting you, a replacement file is available for download for JAWS. List of 5 items 1. Download the following file and save it in an easily accessible folder on your hard drive. ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/WebFiles/Tools/ELOQMAIN.ZIP 2. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the location in which you saved the .zip file and extract the contents. 3. Copy the file you just extracted to the following folders: a) C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\Shared\Eloquence\6.1 b) And to the folder where your product is installed: - The default installation folder for JAWS 6.0 and later is C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\[PRODUCT]\[VERSION]. For example: C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\6.20 - Earlier versions of JAWS are by default installed in the root directory of your hard disk in a folder with the same name as the product. For example: C:\JAWS510, and so on. 4. If you are prompted to overwrite the existing file when you copy the dictionary file into the program folder, choose Yes. 5. After adding this file, restart JAWS. list end Freedom Scientific may update this patch as new information is discovered. To insure that you always have the latest update, visit this page: http://www.freedomsci.com/fs_support/BulletinView.cfm?QC=911 You should also know that the original sender of these messages is saying that this patch is a hoax, so ignore any emails making this claim. Remember that only Eloquence is effected. If you use another voice, like the AT&T Natural Voices for example, you will not lose speech when encountering these messages. Windows XP comes with some voices, called Sappi. These voices aren't as clear as Eloquence, but bad speech is better than no speech. Here's how you can use a Sappi synthesizer with JAWS. With JAWS running and your email open, hit the keystrokes insert+control+s. This will bring up a list of synthesizers installed on your computer. If eloquence is your default synthesizer, it will come up first. Arrow down and you'll hear options for "no speech" and "Sappi". Other voices may be listed if you have them on your system. Choose the voice you'd like to use and press enter. The chosen voice should begin speaking. You can now use it to remove the effected email messages. Note that some email lists were attacked by several hundred messages. Follow these steps to remove the effected emails in eudora: List of 3 items 1. After finding one of the Eloquence crashing emails, route your JAWS cursor to PC. 2. Use insert right arrow till you come to any word in the subject line. 3. Press alt+left mouse click and hit the delete key. list end If there are over fifty messages scheduled to be deleted, you'll get a message asking if you really want to delete these messages. Re: 2 sounds cards
Using the jfw.ini to force Jaws to the internal doesn't work well for me. It seems the internal can't work fast enough for some reason when set this way. I should've disabled the internal card and put 2 different kinds of PCI in. Maybe a better idea would've been to get one of the Delta 1010 cards where Jaws might be able to be set to a jack on it's own. If I understood cards with multiple in and outputs properly, I would get 10 of each in every sound program, 10 choices of playback device, and 10 of record. - Original Message - From: "Donald L. Currently I have a Soundmax integrated sound card and a Soundblaster Audigy PCI internal card. I'm wanting to replace the Soundmax with another PCI card due to the problems I'm having with the Soundmax's volume going way low. My question is if there are any problems in getting a second Soundblaster. Will there be conflicts if I have two similar cards in the same machine or should I just get a different brand? Since I'm just needing it for basic voice chat, Windows sounds, and software speech the replacement sound card need not have a lot of bells and whistles. - -- Whenever I feel like exercise, I lie down until the feeling passes. Re: 2 sounds cards
I'm not having any luck getting speech out of my first sound device after installing an Audigy Pro 4. I also changed the jfw.ini file as directed and things got worse. I'd get a bit of speech from jaws then the system would appear to lock up. Narrator won't even work. Only way I get any speech is to have the Audigy as the default playback audio device. There was no problem using the ac'97 card for speech before I added the Audigy. I sure wish I could sort this out. - Original Message - From: "Brent Harding" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Upgrading Replay A/V
I'm currently using Replay A/V 7.04 and understand an upgrade is now available. All that happens when I activate the Upgrade button is a dialogue that talks about purchasing an activation code. Not sure how one is meant to upgrade to a later version. Would appreciate suggestions from anyone who has accomplished this.
