Hi, This message is sent to me privately. Haven't you received this? I don't know about this. I really have no idea what is it all about. I hope if ever this is true, this post would become a warning.
-----Original Message----- From: MICHAEL MCCARTY [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, March 31, 2006 4:49 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Bad Words for JAWS: Patch Released - Fred's Head Companionarticle Watch your in-box for emails from either [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] This address is sending out messages to email lists that contain misspelled words that cause JAWS and Magic to crash. When a specific misspelling or typo of the word "seizure" and "have" is encountered by the Eloquence or ViaVoice synthesizer, the synthesizer will quit. This can result in loss of speech and an error dialog. JAWS and MAGic use Eloquence as the default software synthesizer. OpenBook uses ViaVoice and is not effected. To minimize the risk of the misspellings affecting you, a replacement file is available for download for JAWS. List of 5 items 1. Download the following file and save it in an easily accessible folder on your hard drive. ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/WebFiles/Tools/ELOQMAIN.ZIP 2. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the location in which you saved the .zip file and extract the contents. 3. Copy the file you just extracted to the following folders: a) C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\Shared\Eloquence\6.1 b) And to the folder where your product is installed: - The default installation folder for JAWS 6.0 and later is C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\[PRODUCT]\[VERSION]. For example: C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\6.20 - Earlier versions of JAWS are by default installed in the root directory of your hard disk in a folder with the same name as the product. For example: C:\JAWS510, and so on. 4. If you are prompted to overwrite the existing file when you copy the dictionary file into the program folder, choose Yes. 5. After adding this file, restart JAWS. list end Freedom Scientific may update this patch as new information is discovered. To insure that you always have the latest update, visit this page: http://www.freedomsci.com/fs_support/BulletinView.cfm?QC=911 You should also know that the original sender of these messages is saying that this patch is a hoax, so ignore any emails making this claim. Remember that only Eloquence is effected. If you use another voice, like the AT&T Natural Voices for example, you will not lose speech when encountering these messages. Windows XP comes with some voices, called Sappi. These voices aren't as clear as Eloquence, but bad speech is better than no speech. Here's how you can use a Sappi synthesizer with JAWS. With JAWS running and your email open, hit the keystrokes insert+control+s. This will bring up a list of synthesizers installed on your computer. If eloquence is your default synthesizer, it will come up first. Arrow down and you'll hear options for "no speech" and "Sappi". Other voices may be listed if you have them on your system. Choose the voice you'd like to use and press enter. The chosen voice should begin speaking. You can now use it to remove the effected email messages. Note that some email lists were attacked by several hundred messages. Follow these steps to remove the effected emails in eudora: List of 3 items 1. After finding one of the Eloquence crashing emails, route your JAWS cursor to PC. 2. Use insert right arrow till you come to any word in the subject line. 3. Press alt+left mouse click and hit the delete key. list end If there are over fifty messages scheduled to be deleted, you'll get a message asking if you really want to delete these messages. Say yes and they are gone! Outlook Express has a feature which will allow you to delete by subject, thread, sender and so on. Click here to view the original Webpage. Sent using R|mail.
