Re: Is there a Podcast directory page on the Itunes Web site

2005-11-20 Thread Larry Higgins
I was given to believe that Itunes had the largest selection of
podcasts of them all. In other words, Itunes is supposed to be the
mother of all Podcast directories . I just don't want to miss anything.

You will need the latest version of winamp which is
5.11 at least that is the version that I am using. I
think v 2 does not allow you to play wav files.

You can get it at either www.winamp.com or
www.whitestick.co.uk.

Jim,

You can't disable .sfk creation, but you can get rid of them every time you
close Sound Forge.
>From the options menu, go to preferences. Down arrow until you hear "keep
temporary files on close." Hit your space bar to uncheck this.
Luck!

need more help with total recorder scheduler

2005-11-20 Thread Marty Rimpau
Hi all, I am using total recorder scheduler with total recorder
standard version, and I want to start a recording at 1 pm this
afternoon, and end the recording at 3.03 this afternoon, so, lister
Dean, said that when he used time duration, that there were fewer key
strokes, but I found as many key strokes, when I have it on time
duration, but the description of the schedule is interactive at 13 for
four 03, and I don't want to record for four hours and three minutes,
yet, when I pressed edit to look what I had done, it looked correct, so
have I done anything incorrectly, or do I need to do something else? I
duplicated the steps discussed in an earlier message to the list, but
if using time duration, how will this mean fewer key strokes, and why
the vague descriptions regarding the radio buttons? Sorry for all the
questions, but everything is exactly as before, with as many key
strokes, so what, if anything, am I doing incorrectly? Thanks in
advance for any assistance.

Hi, Don, I have total recorder set to eliminate gaps in transmission in
the recording parameters dialog, and it is on software, as I want to
record a stream this afternoon at 1 pm, and Dean said that if you use
duration, there are fewer key strokes, but there seem to be as many in
duration mode as in absolute time.

Yes, I remember when I first got my computer, it had quick time 6, I think.
That is kind of a rip-off, because I am not even sure what quick time is so
I shouldn't have said that...but I stil don't see why you'd have to install
quick time as well as i tunes. Can you instal juce ( is that how you spell
it?) with i tunes, or does i tunes have to be uninstalled? I'm guessing the
latter?

volume control problems

2005-11-20 Thread Josh N Rivera
I hope this is the proper forum for this problem. I am running a
Turtlebeach sound card on a Win98 second edition machine. For some reason
I am not able to retain my volume control settings after rebooting. I
have them all set to maximum, but they all go back to I guess some preset
settings, which are much lower than I like them. Any suggestions for
correcting this would be greatly appreciated.
This all began happening after getting the machine back from a chip fan
replacement.

more puzzlement with total recorder scheduler

2005-11-20 Thread Marty Rimpau
Hi all, I have recorded the thing I want, but even though I had the
radio button on time duration, and had set total recorder to start
recording at 1 pm which it did, it didn't stop at 3.03 pm like I
wanted, in fact, if all indicators were correct, in terms of how the
schedule was set, it would have seemed that the recording would have
stopped at 4.04 pm, which I did not want, I wanted the recording to
start at 13 00, 00, and stop at 15 03 00 in order of how the combo
boxes go. Now, when I first started to play with total recorder
scheduler, a dialog came up about something not being configured, and
not knowing what it was, I dismissed it with the okay button, and
wonder if the scheduler needs to be configured, but I can't find any
menu's for that, just a system pull down with window-eyes, so what does
one need to do to insure that total recorder scheduler is working
propperly? I had to physically stop total recorder from recording what
I wanted, because the actual show was done, but the actual time on the
mp3 file was 148:54, and the actual show lasted for 119 minutes and 47
seconds, and I know my time was set correctly, so with total recorder
version 5.3, window-eyes 5.5, windows 98 se, 192 megs of ram, and a 400
megs processor, what have I been doing incorrectly? I know that
recordi source parameters is one of the things in the new schedule
dialog, but I don't want to change anything, because I have the prevent
gaps in transmission checked, and I have the convert using specified
parameters below check box checked, I have the lame encoder installed,
and I've told it to convert to mp3, so with all this, why aren't my
times matching up, first of all, and what is the difference between
time duration, and absolute time, because, I find it hard to believe
that a randum time for the file would be selected to record the file,
it has to know how long to record the file for, so what have I been
doing wrong, and what should be configured? I do have it delete
schedules when they're complete, and I deleted the one from today
because the recording was interrupted, and I have the check box
unchecked that says hide jobs, but can't think of anything else, naybe
a more close examination might be in order, but I can't figure out why
the times on my recordings never match up? Thanks in advance, and
sorry for being frustrated, but I know what I had put in those combo
boxes, namely, start time, Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 1 pm, or 13,
00, 00, in order of how those boxes go, then to end at 3.03 on the same
day, or 15, 03, 00 so what is going on?

Marty

Re: Windows Media Player

2005-11-20 Thread Ken Burgess
Hello Beverly,

I can't help you with your question because I don't know, its answer, but I
can tell you that the Media Player stream is louder than your other stream
and it's in stereo, unlike the Winamp stream which is mono.

Re: volume control problems

2005-11-20 Thread R Q J
Hi Josh,
Download and install quick mix from:
www.jfwlite.com/programs
You can save your mixer settings, and then place the file in your startup
group, so your mixer settings will be the same at startup every time.
Or, you can take your machine back to the person that worked on it, and have
them correct the problem they created.

Re: how to insure propper time from total recorder scheduler

2005-11-20 Thread Brent Harding
Could TR Pro record streams that go to silence, and cut most of it out? I
want to record Tom Martino from KHOW online, and it uses one of those web
players, but if I use the link on bill sparks instead, it works good, but
there is silence between where the commercials normally would go.

Re: how to insure propper time from total recorder scheduler

2005-11-20 Thread Dean Martineau
Total Recorder can trim silence if you want it to. It could also be
told to stop recording when silence occurs for a certain length of
time, which isn't what you would want obviously but is a nice program
capability.

Marty, when I say that it takes fewer keystrokes to set duration than
it does to set actual time, I simply mean that if I'm recording
something for one hour, with duration, I arrow up once to on in the
hour field. If I'm settng time, I have to arrow maybe as many as
twelve tiems depending on the time of day I'm choosing. That's the
only difference.

I think I've experienced what you're experiencing once, and I don't
remember why, but it isn't the usual behavior at all. I would
definitely send a letter very much like what you sent to this list to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I had a lot more difficulties with total Recorder with Win98 than
I've had with xp. I found it unreliable with Win98.

There is no need to configure the scheduler.

those IPodders. is there such a thing? and what make or model would be good for
me?

Re: how to insure propper time from total recorder scheduler

2005-11-20 Thread Brent Harding
It would be neat if one could consider it to stop and start on those bleeps
in shows, heh, but the danger in it is that sometimes the station doesn't
come back in time to hear the bleep, so a safety net time would be needed.
The bleeps are something distinguishable while going through fast with a
sound editor.
