RE: NORMALIZING WAV FILES

2005-07-28 Thread Mark Matthews
Sorry - a bit late getting back on this one.

I've downloaded and installed the program, but can't see anything about
additional plug-ins to support OGG in the normal mix. Nothing leaped out at
me on their homepage either. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Mark

Yes. MP3 gain will normalize ogg files, though I think you have to download
a second piece of software in order to add ogg to the normalizing mix.

RE: Restoring Stereo Playback

2005-07-28 Thread Caroline Ford
I don't have a problem recording in stereo. If I make a recording in Total
Recorder and transfer it to another device, such as my BookCourier, it plays
back in stereo as do any other MP3's I transfer from my PC. The problem is
that I cannot get any files to play back in stereo on the PC itself, even
pre-existing MP3's which I've ripped from CD's which used to play in stereo
until recently. The only two culprits which might have been responsible for
switching play back to mono are Goldwave and Total Recorder 5.2 which I
installed at roughly the same time. I initially thought Goldwave was
responsible, but the upgrade to Total Recorder could also be to blame,
although I only upgraded from 5.1 to 5.2, so it's unlikely that there would
have been any fundamental changes in that respect.

If anyone can suggest where I need to look for the setting which governs
play back in mono or stereo, I'd be grateful. Even the windows sounds are
playing back in mono at present.

Thanks,

Caroline.

Be sure when you press control +n for new that you are set for stereo at

Hello,

A few days ago I downloaded Goldwave and since installing it, all stereo
files I play back on my PC, whether through Goldwave, Total Recorder or
Windows Media Player, are only playing in mono.

Does anyone know how I can re-set the play back to stereo and in which
program I need to make the adjustment?

Thanks,

Caroline.

The already mentioned Sony ICD-MX20 and a couple of Olympus recorders,
like the DS-2. These recorders cannot speak their menus, but one can set
these menus via the PC.

Backing up mp3's onto a dvd

2005-07-28 Thread Andy

Hi all.

I've converted 14 Roy Harper albums to mp3 format and would like to back
these up onto a DVD to save disks. I'm using Easy CD Creator version 6.0
and would really welcome a step by step at how to achieve this. I've
attempted but cannot manage. I have discovered that the albums amount to
1.37gb. Is this too large for a DVD? Any advise would be very appreciated
folks. Thanks.

Best wishes.

I also share interest with another user who asked about the

RE: Backing up mp3's onto a dvd

2005-07-28 Thread Peter Logue
Mp3 music on a DVD. Now there's an idea. I imagine if this is possible then
you could perhaps contain an artists complete discography on one DVD? I'm
assuming a DVD has more than 1 Gig of space, otherwise you'd just place the
discography on a regular CD. Which is fine if you only have a discography of
8 albums or so. But if an artists discography amounts to some 15 albums, then
a DVD with the space of perhaps 2 Gigs would certtainly be the way to go. If
this is the way you went and you placed all of an artists discography on one
DVD in mp3 format, could you then play that DVD on a stereo slash mp3 player?
Hmmm. Now 14 Cat Stevens mp3 albums on one DVD playing all day on one DVD
disc. Man I'd be teasing Buddha in Katmandoo with a chocolate bull at four on
a broken morning in room C79 while I waited for the peace train. But is it
really possible to place a 15 album discography on one DVD and play it on an
mp3 player?

creating audio files from other files

2005-07-28 Thread Scott Blanks

Hi all,

What program or programs would I use to take a small piece of a large wav
file and make a wav or mp3 file out of it? In other words, I have a wav file
that runs for about thirty minutes, and there are several segments, each
just a few seconds long, that I want to make into their own individual
files.

Is there a way to do this without forking out cash? If not, I am open to
paying for a program, as I may do this quite often in the future. And of
course, I'm looking for the ideal combination of functionality and
accessibility with a screen reader.

Thanks,
Scott

Hmm, That sounds like a job for GoldWave, but I'm not a real expert. I
forgot how much GoldWave is but 50 or $60 sounds right.

Subject: creating audio files from other files

Hi all,

What program or programs would I use to take a small piece of a large
wav
file and make a wav or mp3 file out of it? In other words, I have a wav
file
that runs for about thirty minutes, and there are several segments, each

just a few seconds long, that I want to make into their own individual
files.

Is there a way to do this without forking out cash? If not, I am open to

paying for a program, as I may do this quite often in the future. And of

course, I'm looking for the ideal combination of functionality and
accessibility with a screen reader.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Peter. That idea would be great, wouldn't you think.

Mp3 music on a DVD. Now there's an idea. I imagine if this is possible
then

you could perhaps contain an artists complete discography on one DVD? I'm
assuming a DVD has more than 1 Gig of space, otherwise you'd just place
the
discography on a regular CD. Which is fine if you only have a discography
of
8 albums or so. But if an artists discography amounts to some 15 albums,
then
a DVD with the space of perhaps 2 Gigs would certtainly be the way to go.
If
this is the way you went and you placed all of an artists discography on
one
DVD in mp3 format, could you then play that DVD on a stereo slash mp3
player?

Hmmm. Now 14 Cat Stevens mp3 albums on one DVD playing all day on one DVD
disc. Man I'd be teasing Buddha in Katmandoo with a chocolate bull at four
on

a broken morning in room C79 while I waited for the peace train. But is it
really possible to place a 15 album discography on one DVD and play it on
an

mp3 player?

Hi all.

I've converted 14 Roy Harper albums to mp3 format and would like to back
these up onto a DVD to save disks. I'm using Easy CD Creator version 6.0
and
would really welcome a step by step at how to achieve this. I've
attempted
but cannot manage. I have discovered that the albums amount to 1.37gb.
Is

this too large for a DVD? Any advise would be very appreciated folks.
Thanks.

Best wishes.
Andy from sunny Kilcreggan.
