There is a package that costs that much? The only one I know about costs
$34.95 a year, and no, it doesn't carry the patriot feed. You're right
about Sirius, though. You get every feed, all but two sound great.

Just to help, remember there is a football package for the NFL that is
about
$34.95 a month, not sure if the pats ate on there. They are on Sirius
though
and I understand the audio is very good. Sirius doesn't stream anything

interested in tuning in and what time is good for most. I can broadcast

Winamp Help, Please

2004-09-10 Thread Cynthia Handel
I just recently downloaded Winamp and am having some difficulty with it.
I'm trying to find Properties, so I can select which types of audio I would
like it to play. But, I haven't found that. Also, I can't close the Winamp
Window, when I'm finished, without using End Tasks. Any thoughts or
suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Winamp Help, Please

2004-09-10 Thread Marty Rimpau
Hi, Cindy, winamp is a very non-standard application, so here's what to
do. First, start winamp, and then press control p for preferences, and
press the home key to get you to the top of the tree-view, and if it is
closed, expand it with the right arrow. Once that has been expanded,
arrow down to file types, and then tab to the button that says all, and
press the space bar on this, but this should have been done by default,
when winamp was installed. You can go down the list of file types, and
press the space bar to unselect that file type, or association from
being played, such as .mp3. Hope this helps, and if you have any
further questions, let us know. Oh, it sounds like you have the modern
skin support selected, so, what you need to do is while in preferences,
with the tree-view expanded, press the letter s for skins, upon which,
you may have to shift tab back to the tree-view, but if it says modern
skin support, then arrow down to classic skin, and then tab to the
close button, and press the space bar, which I forgot to mention as the
final step regarding file types. Winamp is very non-standard, in that
you usually see a tree-view, and a list-view side by side, but they
have tree-views next to tab controls, or they're next to dialog boxes,
so don't let that frighten you. I hadn't heard the main menu segments
on configuring winamp, but when they become available, I think I'll
give them a listen, because even I need refreshing, and I've been using
winamp for about 4 years now.

Hi Cindy.

The best way to find audio or file types is to open up Winamp, then press
Control-P for preferences and arrow up or down until you find "file
associations".
Sorry don't have an answer off top of my head for the "end task" problem, I
just use alt-f4 to close Winamp.

Re: Accessible CD-Rom Burning Software

2004-09-10 Thread Jay Williams

Hank mentioned that this program always inserts a 2-second space between
tracks. I haven't looked at the demo yet nor read its documentation, but I
hope that there's a "disk-at-once" mode and in that mode there should be no
audible gap, provided that the software one uses to make the separate
tracks encodes the blocks correctly.

Re: DVD audio?

2004-09-10 Thread G. McFarlane
Hi Hank
Yes their DC6 Noise Reduction program is excellent in what it can achieve in
audio cleaning, remastering and revitalising. It is just as accessible as
version 5 and is no problem if you want to work on a complete file.
Selecting and ff and rw are still not able to be dealt with adequately by
screen readers although in the Jaws cursor mode much is achievable. I
generally section my files *(if necessary) in Audition then import. The
presets in DC6 are fantastic and there's always something that works for
every situation.

They have a new Ezi clean function which removes scratches, hiss and hum
automatically - it also keeps an eye on what's coming up and adjusts itself
automatically. I didn't like it at first but recently I've been cleaning up
some old video soundtracks and this feature is invaluable - it adjusts
itself to the varied noises and when for instance a low and high frequency
boost filter is applied, the sound can be quite exceptional.

It also has a good ripping feature, and can also prepare files excellently
for CD.

A question to you - Have you used this DVD audio program you suggested. I
downloaded it and it certainly looks pretty accessible. Does it work well
and are there any tips?

Thanks.

Hi
There is a new DVD-audio writing program called Disk Welder Bronze sold
by Tracertek.

For those who need good accessibility apparently the makers say that it's
not too complient yet although other programs they make are. I've asked

Subject: Re: DVD audio?

Hi Hank
Yes their DC6 Noise Reduction program is excellent in what it can achieve
in audio cleaning, remastering and revitalising. It is just as accessible
as version 5 and is no problem if you want to work on a complete file.
Selecting and ff and rw are still not able to be dealt with adequately by
screen readers although in the Jaws cursor mode much is achievable. I
generally section my files *(if necessary) in Audition then import. The
presets in DC6 are fantastic and there's always something that works for
every situation.

They have a new Ezi clean function which removes scratches, hiss and hum
automatically - it also keeps an eye on what's coming up and adjusts
itself automatically. I didn't like it at first but recently I've been
cleaning up some old video soundtracks and this feature is invaluable - it
adjusts itself to the varied noises and when for instance a low and high
frequency boost filter is applied, the sound can be quite exceptional.

It also has a good ripping feature, and can also prepare files excellently
for CD.

A question to you - Have you used this DVD audio program you suggested. I
downloaded it and it certainly looks pretty accessible. Does it work well
and are there any tips?

Thanks.
Gordon

Hi
There is a new DVD-audio writing program called Disk Welder Bronze sold
by Tracertek.

www.tracertek.com
For those who need good accessibility apparently the makers say that
it's not too complient yet although other programs they make are. I've
asked them to look into it.

I cant seen to find any.
Is there a program to make a audio DVD just as we make audio CD's?

I believe it came bundled with version 7 of the Kurzweil 1000 scanning
program, and was then replaced in Version 8. If you have version 7, you
should still have the Realspeak voices.

2004-09-10 Thread Jorge Mojica
hay mister hanky, there are no scripts yet, I talked to a friend of mine
about him putting some scripts together, but i've not heard from him yet.
I like the service a lot. it streams very good quality music. nothing is
downloaded, which is good if you are low on space, you can have a playlist
of your fave stuff that you can play whenever you want.
I use total recorder to record the streams, and the quality is perfect.
what you want to do once your logged in is use your jaws cursor to left
click on something so that the virtual cursor turns on.
usually I click on my email addy, you'll see it as you move down the page.
if you turn off the jaws cursor and it still says pc cursor try again, it's
sometimes frustrating, but the quality and quantity keep me here. they claim
to be the largest music service, with over 700,000 tracks.
www.listen.com
another way you can use it, and i've just figured this out after having had
the service for a couple of months, if you don't manage to get the virtual
cursor to come on, but you notice that jaws is still reading you stuff as
you tab around, you can use it this way. you'll be in forms mode but it
won't say that you are, but it will tell you that you are in an edit box,
you tab from there and you'll hear artist, this is a combo box, artist,
track, title, are your options. you can plug in whatever you want hit enter
and tab down till you see an album, lets say you plug in ray charles, you
tab till you see the albums and hit enter, then tab again till you see play,
and hit enter on that.
the controls are like WMP, control p, control b for back, and f for forward.

peculiar problem with dvd drive when playing audio cd's

2004-09-10 Thread Shane Christenson
Hi, listers. when I try to play an audio cd with my dvd burner drive, the
audio is very choppy, regardless of the program I use to play the cd. I'm
using a tdk dvdr/rw burner with windows xp pro, and jaws 5.10. This has
been an issue for quite some time but am just now getting around to posting
about it. Any ideas and or help in getting this resolved would be most
appreciated.

oh boy, this is a problem. I keep meaning to write to tr to see about
supporting rhapsody.
but as of yet, they do not support the title bar or whatever of rhapsody.
splitting files is a bit awkward, but you can set it up in tr to split
them, but it's not very clean.

Subject: CD/DVD ripping program

I contacted the place about the CD/DVD ripping program and asked them
about RM files. They said yes, they could add it. I just sent them a
note saying that as soon as they fix it so I can do that I will buy it,
otherwise I will not buy it. I will keep you posted. Kurt

tips?

2004-09-10 Thread Cheryl
hi, everyone. I have a few questions. First, does anyone have any tips on
how to use goldwave with jaws? Also, is it possible to select part of a
file in goldwave using jaws? lastly, does anyone know if it's possible to
eliminate the pauses between songs in easy cd creator five basic? I've
tried disc at once, but that still puts in a tiny pause. This is anoying,
especially if I'm burning live concert cds. Any help will be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks, Cheryl

Re: Why the High Ebay Prices on XM PCR?

2004-09-10 Thread Charles Adkins
I was shocked myself. I understand that people started recording music from
a lot of channels using software that let them make individual music files,
as they felt people began "pirating music" according to the record
industry---you know the folks that charge us $20 for a CD that costs them
allot less to produce than the vinyl did. You can thank the record industry
for the discontinuing of the XMPCR devices. I'm glad I got one. For a blind
person, they are the only way I know of that we can have the same access to
XM text the way our sighted friends do. When I got mine, they were
relatively unknown.

Think of it this way. If you came up with a pill that you could put in your
gas tank which would let you get 100 miles per gallon with gas, you would be
shot and your product burned. When somebody finds an alternative energy
power source that conflicts with the current structure, the oil and power
companies buy it and shelf it. I don't know about you but it kind of reminds
me of a police state.

It's interesting though because a few days ago when I checked the XM site
still lists the XMPCR as a way of getting their service.

I'm having a problem with Yahoo sports college pass because their default
volume is way to low and I can't access the volume slider to change it. They
don't seem to care, after all, I'm only spending $9.95 a month.

If I had time or thought the interest was there, I would explain how they
killed the satellite industry.

Most of us bought our XM PCR units for between $50 and $70, so imagine my
shock when I checked out the going prices on Ebay, of $180 to $255 and
more!

What's the deal here folks? I can'tfigure out why these units are going
for so much, although I do like my unit!
