I have recorded a radio show with goldwave.
In the midle of this show there waere a block with news that i din't want to
record so i paused the recording and then started it again.
Yesterday when i listened to it it sounds good until i came across this
pause.
Then the sound became very mechanized and metallic or distorted.
I really can't understand whats happened with the recording after the pause.
I did'nt change any settings.
Any suggestions?

Keeping two sound cards enabled at once

2004-09-07 Thread Kathy Szinnyey/Fred Otto
Hi, friends! Love this list! I'm wanting to use both my on-board sound card
and my USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2NX active, if possible. I'd like to be
able to use JAWS with my on-board sound card, and all the rest of the sounds
I use (recording, playing back music, etc.) on the USB one. Any advice?
Can it even be done, and if so, can I get some good instructions for a dummy
like me about setting it all up?

Thaks!

Sound Forge 7.0b is Available

2004-09-07 Thread Steve Pattison
Sound Forge 7.0b is now available. Here are the changes in this
version:

A bug has been fixed that caused the Explorer window to lose its
Favorites settings
if the list was too long. Favorites are now saved in the following
file: C:\Documents
and Settings\\Application Data\Sony\Sound
Forge\7.0\ExplorerFavorites.txt.
The file is saved whenever you close the Explorer window or exit the
application.
You can copy the file to different computers or user accounts to
migrate Favorites
settings.
To see this file, you must have the Show hidden files and folders
radio button selected on the View tab of the Folder Options Control
Panel.
A bug has been fixed that could cause excessive CPU usage when playing
back or zooming
files saved using the Windows Media Audio Lossless codec.
ADPCM formats for IVC, NeXT/Sun, SD1, and VOX files will now build
proxy files (.sfap0)
when opened. Use of a proxy file will prevent glitching when you seek
through the
files during playback (these formats do not support seeking natively).
The QuickTime file format plug-in now properly checks the path length
when you render
QuickTime files. QuickTime files are limited to a maximum of 51
characters.
A bug has been fixed that caused inaccurate Undo/Redo history
information when multiple
files were created from the same source file.
Timed recording settings now persist when you close and reopen the
application (to
record the timer events, the application must be running and recording
must be armed
in timer mode).
Threshold-based recording will now properly display the Time Recorded
value when
using a prerecord buffer.
Markers placed during recording when using a prerecord buffer will now
be placed
at the correct locations when you stop recording. In previous versions,
your markers
would be added to the prerecorded buffer.
Prerecord buffer settings now persist when you close and reopen the
application.
A bug has been fixed that caused metadata—such as timecode and tape
name—to be stripped
when files created in Sony Video Capture were edited in Sound Forge
software.
A bug has been fixed that caused sample loop markers to be off by one
sample in AIFF
files.
A bug that could cause AIFF files to produce noise when saved as MP3
has been fixed.
Workspace (.sfw) files created in Sound Forge v6.0 now open correctly.
Markers and regions now move more predictably when a plug-in changes
the length of
your audio data.
When a plug-in is applied from the DX Favorites menu, markers are not
moved if the
input and output length match and no tail is created.
When a plug-in is applied from the DX Favorites menu, markers beyond
the selection
are moved if the plug-in creates a tail and the Real-Time Preview
Configuration window
is set to insert the tail data.
When a plug-in is applied from the DX Favorites menu, markers are
scaled accordingly
if the output from the plug-in is shorter then the input.
When a plug-in is applied from the DX Favorites menu and the output is
longer than
the input, the full output is inserted in the file and downstream
markers are scaled
accordingly.
When a plug-in is added from the Plug-In Chainer, markers and regions
within the
selection are not moved.
If the output of the Plug-In Chainer is shorter than the input, markers
beyond the
selection are moved back as if data has been cut.
If the output of the Plug-In Chainer is longer than the output, markers
beyond the
selection are moved downstream accordingly.
A bug that caused the Graphic Dynamics plug-in to report inaccurate
Ratio and Threshold
settings has been fixed.
A bug has been fixed that caused files saved as .raw audio to ignore
the selected
Big-endian or Little-endian setting.
A bug that could cause a crash when applying the Pitch Bend plug-in to
a mono file
has been fixed.
A bug has been fixed that prevented Preview on External Monitor
functionality from
working correctly with some PAL DV devices.
Zoom Out Full and Sync Graphs commands now work correctly in the
Spectrum Analysis
sonogram mode.
When you're viewing a stereo file, the windows in the sonogram mode can
have different
zoom levels unless Sync Graphs is selected.
Display range settings from the Spectrum Settings dialog are now
applied in normal
or sonogram mode.
A bug has been fixed that could cause the spectrum graphs of stereo
file's channels
to be displayed at different sizes.

have
to worry about what version of the screen reader you have. Just
install it
and use it. This is a must for visually impaired computer users.

Re: Keeping two sound cards enabled at once

2004-09-07 Thread Jim Noseworthy
Hi:
Marlaina is correct in saying that a modification to an INI file would be
required to direct JFW to use any soundcard other than the default card.

In your main JAWS directory, look for the JFW.INI file. In this file, you
will notice something like the following:
[Synthesizers]
Synth1Name=eloq
Synth1LongName=Eloquence for JAWS
Synth1Driver=eloq

You must add a Synth1Port= Whatever your sound card is called.
Make sure that you use the exact name that the windows operating system
reports in the "sound and Audio devices" option (which can be accessed
through the control panel.

Hope this helps.

Re: Track listings on burned audio cds

2004-09-07 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Hi Hamish.

Sounds like you need CDText. I don't know if Easy CD Creator supports this
but Nero does. The following notes are taken from the Nero manual on the
subject.
CD Text information

CD Text is additional information on audio tracks. Title of audio tracks and
name of the artists can now be written onto a CD and afterwards be read by
CD ROM drives and audio players. By playing an audio track, its title and
the name of the artist will be displayed by your audio player. If your audio
player does not support this feature, audio CDs containing CD Text
information will be read as if they were "normal" audio CDs without any
additional information. This is possible because CD Text information is
written before the audio data in the lead-in area.

Refer to:

Where can I find this option?
How to write an Audio CD with CD Text information
How to display CD Text information
How to copy CD with CD Text information

Subject: Track listings on burned audio cds

Hi All

I am getting fed up with burning audio cds with easy cd creator to find
that when I put the cd in a cd player or using winamp that none of the
track information such as artist and song title comes over, it is always
unknown artist track xx and the time. Is there some way I can get the
alt tag info to show up on these cds??

Cheers

Hamish

Goldwave jumping (I think)

2004-09-07 Thread Morey Worthington
Hello all,
Using Goldwave 5.08 for the first time. I followed many tips on this list
and went through all the menus before trying anything. I copied a LP album
to my computer and then did the following. After loading the album in
Goldwave, I went to install Q-Points between songs to make them all
seperate tracks. This was accomplished with no problem.
I then tried playing one of the tracks and all of them kind of had a very
fast echo in every word or note played.
It is so fast that it sounds like everything is breaking up very fast.
The only thing I checked in the effects menu, was to remove any cracks and
blips or whatever it was.
Any suggestions on where I went wrong?
Thanks,
Morey

Premier CD/DVD Creator
Finally, CD burning software that is designed to work with a screen
reader

While Premier CD/DVD creator appears to be like many other CD burning
software, if you use screen reading software, you will be able to really
HEAR the
difference immediately!!. This is the first CD/DVD burning software that
is
designed to work with a screen reader and is now the most Section
508-compliant
CD burning software in the market.
For many visually impaired users, while individual "screens" may be
accessible, once you select a button or other function, the user often
loses

of the progress or status of a task because the screen reader cannot tell
them what is happening. Premier CD Creator takes care of all of that.

detect it, and send information through your screen reader.
The Premier CD/DVD Creator software package contains four unique tools.
It
comes with an Audio Ripper, Audio CD Burner, Data CD creator and Data DVD
Burner.
Each one of these products is independent of the version of screen

AUDIBLE LISTENERS

2004-09-07 Thread kathleen g. lueders
Hi PC Audio Listers,

When my computer returned from the repair shop, I found zero entries
in the address book.
This means, I have lost the address for the Blind Audible Listeners
List.
Does anyone have this address?
Or does anyone know if the list is down? I have received no messages
from them in two weeks.

Thanks

hi listers, has someone got a layman's guide to mp3 direct cut please?
I have cut an album in sections, but the tracks are cutting out half way
through.
there are 12 tracks on the album, but when I cut it, I end up with 20 files.

Re: mp3 direct cut?

2004-09-07 Thread Harry Bassler
Simon, I use MP3DirectCut quite often but am still trying to fathom certain
features.
I know that the first track is always a junk file.
I think the program is terrific for copying plays & such from BBC Radio 4
thru my soundcard.
The FAQ file is helpful with some explanation.

Re: mp3 direct cut?

2004-09-07 Thread Michael Lang
Simon, I think you can set the threshold for the automatic pause
recognition somewhere in the program. If this doesn'T work, you have to
split the file manually.
