Hi:

Marlaina is correct in saying that a modification to an INI file would be required to direct JFW to use any soundcard other than the default card.

In your main JAWS directory, look for the JFW.INI file. In this file, you will notice something like the following:
[Synthesizers]
Synth1Name=eloq
Synth1LongName=Eloquence for JAWS
Synth1Driver=eloq

You must add a Synth1Port= Whatever your sound card is called.

Make sure that you use the exact name that the windows operating system reports in the "sound and Audio devices" option (which can be accessed through the control panel.

Hope this helps.

Don't know about the jaws end, but Freedom does and they can direct you. As
a window eyes user, all I need to do is select the card to which I want win
eyes to speak by going to my audio tab in the control panel and highlighting
the proper card. then, I simply reboot. that puts win eyes where I want
it.

Then, I select the other sound card, and go to my media players and ensure
that they are all pointing to that second card. works for me like a charm.
I think freedom requires some adjustment to the ini file of some sort or
another and you should be fine.

Good luck!

Hi, friends! Love this list! I'm wanting to use both my on-board sound
card
and my USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2NX active, if possible. I'd like to be
able to use JAWS with my on-board sound card, and all the rest of the
sounds
I use (recording, playing back music, etc.) on the USB one. Any advice?
Can it even be done, and if so, can I get some good instructions for a
dummy
like me about setting it all up?

Thaks!

Kathy Szinnyey
