Re: line in recording using headphone jack

2004-07-27 Thread shawn klein
You might try attenuator cord, but I tried that with
my NLS player and didn't get any audio through to
speak of. I eventually just came in through the mic
jack with it. You plug in the lead to the tape
recorder half way in to the mic jack and it works.
Wouldn't be able to do stereo though.

Re: line in recording using headphone jack

2004-07-27 Thread Dean masters
I have done this with a Panasonic stereo that is just a few years old. I
have to turn the volume up for it to be heard on my pc. this stereo has the
equalizer preset for 11 different ways and I find it hard to find just the
right way for the recording I want. Also there has been a problem with
accompaniment tracks. when listening to them through my pc, the voice on the
demo sounds like it is coming from offstage while the band is on stage. I
also tried hooking a boom box up and found the same thing.

As soon as I can get an adaptor I am going to try an older stereo with a
five band equalizer. Neither of these stereos have line out jacks.

Re: Automatic gain control needed

2004-07-27 Thread Donald L. Roberts
Hello,

I posted the original message in this thread. I do not want mp3gain as I
have it and know that it works well. What I am looking for is something
which will amplify a low volume level to a specified threshhold when a
segment is actually being recorded, not something after the fact.

Visualize putting something like an A P H desk recorder in the circuit
between the original source and the auxiliary input of your sound card. In
this way, the input would be amplified to a specific level before it reached
the sound card. This of course would not be suitable for critical music
listening but would work well for voice recordings of which I make quite a
few. So in summary, I am looking for a software program to accomplish what
I can easily do utilizing extra equipment.

I'm sorry if my original post on this topic was unclear.

Thanks.

Don Roberts

Why

Normally, I have no problem downloading from kazaa lite.
However, I can't seem to get "can't buy me love" by the beatles, on either
Kazaa or Winmx.
This number is listed as available (I assume).
Last night I left my puter on all night on winmx, and by this morning
nothing happened.
Is there something about this particular song that renders it
un-downloadable?
Thanks in advance.

Instead of splitting the file, e-mail it using:

You can upload files up to 1 GB and the recipient receives a link to

Hi, Frank, what you can do, is before stopping winamp, press control j
which is the jump to time dialog, and read with your mouse keys, and if
it says something like elapsed time 30:00, then the next time you start
winamp, it will start at the beginning, and you type control j, then
type 30:00, note the colon between the numbers, and press enter, and
you should be where you left off in the book.

I don't know about use of Window Eyes, but you might get a little
farther by using Real 10 to transfer the files. You need to have Real
10 and Sonic Stage/Open MG Jukebox on your computer. You will need to
load an md driver from within Real 10. There are pretty good
instructions in the Real 10 Help and How to files.

a program to find broken mp3's?

2004-07-27 Thread russell Bourgoin
Hi Gang,
When I randomly play mp3's from my collection of some 27,000
tunes, occasionally I get a file that sounds silent. Does anyone know of a
program that can help me root out those files that do not play? The task
of manually playing a snippet of each of my files is a truly daunting task
that I'd rather avoid if the machine and software can do it for
me. Thanks, in advance, for any help.

Hi Bob

If you are using jaws you can do this. When you have finished listening
just pause the MP3 and press the m key. this will bring up an edit box
where you can give the time marker a label. do this and hit okay. Next
time you want to listen load up the file in winamp and hit shift alt m
and it will bring up a list of the markers you have set. When in the
file also press ctrl shift m to remove any time markers for that track.
