I have done this with a Panasonic stereo that is just a few years old. I have to turn the volume up for it to be heard on my pc. this stereo has the equalizer preset for 11 different ways and I find it hard to find just the right way for the recording I want. Also there has been a problem with accompaniment tracks. when listening to them through my pc, the voice on the demo sounds like it is coming from offstage while the band is on stage. I also tried hooking a boom box up and found the same thing.
As soon as I can get an adaptor I am going to try an older stereo with a five band equalizer. Neither of these stereos have line out jacks. Dean I personally know someone who literally is older than dirt.
