Noise from sound card and Eloquence
I have seen info posted here about how to stop unwanted static/hiss that is created after words or sentences spoken with JFW and Eloquence and sound cards, Sound Blaster and maybe others. Is there a Web Site or some info that I can read on how to stop this. I am using an on-board sound card and a friend is using Sound Blaster and gets simillar effect. Peter s.. RE: 2 sound cards and Window Eyes.
All very well but this wont work with windows media player or real player as you cant control what card these two go to they just go to the default along with your synth. You can get round this with Jaws by adding a line to the ini file to point jaws to a particular card. cheers Hamish -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jerry Richer Sent: Wednesday, June 30, 2004 1:43 PM To: PC audio discussion list. Issue with audigy card and onboard card
Hi All I have an onboard sound max card and an audigy card as well. I had mapped jaws to the onboard card by adding a line in the jaws.ini file and all was working perfectly till I had to reformat my c drive recently. Now I cant get anything to play through the onboard card if the audigy drivers are installed. If I uninstall the audigy then jaws and music will come through the onboard card just fine. then if I install the drivers for the audigy it seems to take over and even if I select the onboard card in control panel sounds I just get silence its like the audigy has taken over and wont let anyone else play. This is really weird as it all worked fine before I did the format so I cant figure out what might be different. suggestions welcome. cheers Hamish ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: Turning off Winamp shuffle
Hi, Yes, there is a way to turn off the shuffle mode. Hit alt+F for your context menu, arrow down to options, and hit enter. This will bring up a sub menu. If you arrow down you should find shuffle. To turn it on and off just hit enter on it. If it is checked, then it is on. I am not sure what version of WinAmp you are running. I am using a 2.9x version. This option might be located somewhere different in the 5.0x versions, but nevertheless, it still should be there. Hope this helps, Chris Chaffin > Hello, is there any way to turn off the shuffle mode in Winamp? Hi Folks, I need specific information as to where I may be able to obtain a RealAudio replacement, and a QuickTime replacement program. I mean to say that, I would like to know if anyone has ever written a set of programs to still play RealAudio content, and if so, what its limitations may be. I also wish to know if anyone has ever written a replacement for the popular Apple QuickTime format. This is necessary for me to know as soon as folks can drop me a line. Re: Dumb Question......
It really depends on the player itself as to how you would move from folder to folder or track to track. For example, I had an MP3 CD player that had buttons for advancing by a folder at a time or a track at a time and it determined the folder as the first folder above a bunch of MP3 tracks. I now have a hard disc MP3 player that allows me to navigate by artist, album or tracks or playlists that I've created on the player. I should point out here that these functions are only fully accessible when linked up to my PC but the beauty of the playlists is that you can create your listening preferences in a few playlists that are not difficult to get to when the player isn't hooked up to the PC. The important point is to be sure that your boom box and car stereo actually support MP3 discs and then it's a case of checking out the manual if it's not clear what you need to do to navigate between the folders and tracks. Re: Dumb Question......
I have the Creative Jukebox 10GB hard disc player. It's probably not the most accessible player when it's not hooked up to a desktop or laptop but using a program called Notmad Explorer, it's easy to transfer files to and from it, stream files from it directly through Winamp on the desktop, create playlists and a variety of other functions including producing reports and even running SQL queries against the id3 tags database that's created when transferring files. The point is though, which I think sometimes gets a little overlooked when we're looking for accessibility, is that it actually sounds pretty damn good. It has a frequency response between 20HZ & 20KHZ which is more than sufficient for MP3 music and with a decent pair of headphones, it's a great listen. I tend to create pretty large playlists and then just select between them when away from home so don't tend to spend too much time flicking between folders. This can be done though if you've got a decent memory for the folders you've transferred to the player. It cost me £200 and is a couple of years old now. sonic stage opinions
Hello, a while back someone mentioned a version of sonic stage and I don't have that message to refer to. I was wondering if there any good or bad opinions about sonic stage version 2.0? Are there any special things to know? Shannon ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: sonic stage opinions
Shannon, I once used Sonic Stage to burn an ATRAC CD. I was successful, so it can be done with JAWS, but it wasn't too easy. I'd say, that SonicStage 2.0 is useable, but ... I can't give you more details, because I only worked with the program for half an hour or so. <*** Michael Lang ***> You wrote: > Hello, > a while back someone mentioned a version of sonic stage and I don't have > that message to refer to. > I was wondering if there any good or bad opinions about sonic stage version > 2.0? > Are there any special things to know? > Shannon > ___ > PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... > http://www.pc-audio.org > To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: > [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: Combining .MP3 files
This is often a workable solution, but it is not a perfect one because the headers aren't updated. that's one of the nice things about Vorbis files, apparently this contatination method works more or less flawlessly with Vorbis files. There are MP3 merge utilities, but since any MP3's I use are ones I've created myself and therefore don't need to merge, I haven't dealt with them. Re: Dumb Question......
A friend of mine told me a dog cannot hear the lowest bass note on a piano. I wonder if that is really true? I used to have a dog and a piano when I was younger, so I don't know for sure. Still, he was good company and would listen to me play and stuff. That was a long time ago. Mimi - Original Message - From: "shawn klein" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list.
