GPG, mutt and Outlook Express
Hi fellows Sorry about asking that (again?), but I didn't find a solution to this problem searching the web. I just installed GPG 1.0.6 on my linux box and configured mutt to work with it. Fine so far. Next, I set up a test win2k box with Outlook Express, PGP 6.5.8 and later with 7.0.3. Now, after exchanging keys (which are different, for testing purpose), I first tried to send an encrypted message to my mutt, that worked fine. Then I replied to OE and got two different files: a .dat file and a .asc file. You all know what follows: I was not able to open/decrypt the mail message. Now, is there a way using the old fashioned BEGIN PGP MESSAGE qwleiruas;dflkj END PGP MESSAGE to send mails with mutt, instead of Mime'ing it? TIA Andre -- The retribution of the valiant dwarves has come!

Two Words: outlook! :-( Use Inline Signatures: set pgp_create_traditional=yes But note: This option controls whether Mutt generates old-style PGP encrypted or signed messages under certain circumstances. Note that PGP/MIME will be used automatically for messages which have a character set different from us-ascii, or which consist of more than a single MIME part. Also note that using the old-style PGP message format is strongly deprecated. CU, -volker -- http://die-moells.de/ * http://stama90.de/ * http://scriptdale.de/ This signature is inoperative. Content Disposition type from script
My problem is the following. I use mutt from a perl script to send different type of docs as an attachment automaticaly. It is working correctly but the Content-Disposition is inline and Outlook Express doesn't feel it to be attachment at all. On the other hand in interactive mode i can send email with Content-Disposition as attachment and it is also good for OE but not from script. What command line option or config setting will help me? Here is the command line i use to send email: echo "See attach!"|mutt -s "Subject $date" -a $filename $email bye vi

This should do it: > >set editor="vim +%s/^> >/>>/" [...snip...] just a minor suggestion. if you have vim6.x you can set editor="vim -X -c 'set filetype=mail'" then you can check in vim: :help filetype-plugin for instructions on how to make vim execute commands based on the filetype. so, if you were to make a mail.vim, place the commands in there, and set editor as above, you could make your editor do many different things for mail, without actually having to grow this huge string in your .muttrc. i do this, and it works really well (not to mention that vim6.x has lots of nice things in it not present in 5.x) a thing to note, however, is that it is still a beta, albeit pretty late one. hth, denis -- // mailto: Denis Perelyubskiy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> // icq : 12359698 // PGP : http://www.cs.ucla.edu/~denisp/files/pgp.asc
switching to spool in browser
hello, is there an easy way to map something in browser (some macro maybe) that would present me with New file name: when i do 'select-new' (presently i have it mapped to g) right now, when i hit g (thus triggering 'select-new'), i am presented with the following: New file name: /home/denisp/Mail/ in other words, i would like to get rid of that /home/denisp/Mail/ thing. the only way i see is to map to a macro, which would do a g followed by 20 or so backspaces. that sounds pretty ugly. thanks, denis -- // mailto: Denis Perelyubskiy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> // icq : 12359698 // PGP : http://www.cs.ucla.edu/~denisp/files/pgp.asc

How about mapping CTRL-k -> \Ck to g? This would erase everything to the beginning of the line. Any other Ideas? I mean, I don't have to > stick on PGP on the windows side ... is there something else which can > be handled easily? Or are there patches for PGP 6.5.X? The Problem is not PGP, but Outlook. I defined two macros in my muttrc, so I can encrypt and sign messages in a way MS Outlook (and a lot of other Windows Email Clients) understand: (Sorry for > 68 characters, but the lines are so long) macro compose S "Fgpg --clearsig=on\nj^T^Utext/plain; format=text; x-action=sign\n" macro compose E "Fgpg -a -e -s\nj^T^Utext/plain; format=text; x-action=encrypt\n" The problem about this solution is that you'll have to know whether the recipient of your mail uses a PGP/Mime capable MUA (which are only mutt and Eudora AFAIK) or not. PGP/Mime has great advantages so I do not understand why so many MTAs cannot deal with it.
