Indexing Permissions for Finance::Quote Module
Hello PAUSE admins, The current maintainer of the Finance::Quote module on CPAN, Erik Colson, has been unresponsive to messages. Along with a few others, I am one of the contributers and owners of the https://github.com/finance-quote/finance-quote Git respository. While we have been ready to publish a new release of the module to CPAN, Erik has been unresponsive to emails and messages and hasn't been heard from since October 2020. I would like to request that am added as a co-maintainer of the modules/files on CPAN/PAUSE. I understand that this process may take weeks, but better to start it sooner rather than later. Thank you for your time and assistance. - Bruce S. OpenPGP_0x488C07A9AC915007.asc Description: OpenPGP public key OpenPGP_signature Description: OpenPGP digital signature
Fwd: Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender
Hello Richard DeSimine, I am trying to reach you in order to make some minor tweaks to Date::Business (last updated 1/29/2000). If you are unable, I would be happy to take on co-maintainer responsibilities. Thank you. The GnuCash OpenSource finance application uses Finance::Quote (https://github.com/finance-quote/finance-quote), a Perl module, to fetch securities pricing from various websites. A recent module used Date:Business for calculating the most recent US business day. The issue is that GnuCash has a utility that installs Finance::Quote unattended in the background. When cpan attempts to install Date::Business it get's stopped by the mechanism in Makefile.PL that asks if the license was read and agreed to. Even when PERL_MM_USE_DEFAULT is set to 1. I see you haven't updated the module since 2000, but if you're still at this address can you possibly not have the install require an answer? Thank you. Bruce S. --- End Message ---

I've asked the good folks at Perlmonks.org and he's not there. He is on LinkedIn, unfortunately I cannot contact him directly without paying for LinkedIn premium (I already tried premium some time ago, I'm not eligible for a free trial). I tried using the general contact information for him at the domains he owns too. We prefer to have explicit permission for someone getting co-maint, but if we don’t hear back from him, I’ll give you co-maint on his behalf, given it’s more than 20 years since he released this. All I really wanted to do is change the Makefile.PL file so it honors PERL_MM_USE_DEFAULT. The "hard ask" is an issue for GnuCash users using the GnuCash utility that installs the Finance::Quote module for getting stock quotes. Thank you. Bruce S.

Hello again Neil, It's only been two days, but just wondering if you have gotten a response from Richard? Seeing he a member of the "Perl Developer" group on LinkedIn, I have posted a message there looking for him as well. https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7077695014214012929?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop Thanks again.
