That reasoning fits Image::Thumbnail as it's dealing with any image.

But I think Image::Worldmap is a bad choice. Would have been better
under a Geo namespace.

Similarly Image::Schedule is more relevant to scheduling than images
and so a name in the Schedule:: namespace would be a better fit.

Also "Schedule::Image" is too general. Perhaps Schedule::TableImage
(assuming your module generates images of schedules in a tabular format).

QUICK BUSINESS PROPOSAL

2003-10-24 Thread DANBABA TANKO
ATTN:

I would like to begin by way of introduction; My name
is Danbaba Tanko, a native of Nigeria. I am a senior
employee of Nigerian Department of Energy and Mineral
Resources. You were introduced to us in confidence
through the Nigerian Chambers of Commerce and Foreign
trade division.

I am writing this letter to solicit your co-operation
in order to redeem an investment currently held under
trust with the Department of Energy and Mineral
Resources of Nigeria. The said investment now valued
at USD$26.426M (Twenty six million, four hundred and
twenty six thousand American dollars), was originally
purchased by one Mr. Dwight Ausserer, and leased to
the Transvaal Orange Mining Corporation in 1977.

Since the maturity of this contract in September 1997,
several attempts have been made without success to
contact Mr. Dwight Ausserer or any of his close
relatives, in whose favuor the investment cash value
can be paid.

My partner, who is the Account Director in the same
Ministry and I, have initiated the process of filing a
claim for this money with the hope of having the funds
transferred to you. In order to do this, we will swear
an affidavit in the High Court of my country stating
that you are a distant cousin and next of kin to Mr.
Dwight Ausserer the owner of the money. After which,
we will file a claim for this money from the
Department of Energy and Mineral Resources, indicating
that you were appointed by Mr. Ausserer to be the
beneficiary of these funds. When the claim is approved
you as the beneficiary will be paid the sum of
USD$26.426M.

The money will be paid directly to any bank of your
choice; you will have the responsibility to ensure
that my partner and I receive 70% of the money while
you keep 25% for your assistance. The remaining 5% will
be for incidental expenses.

I want to assure you that my partner and I are in a
position to make the payment of this claim possible
provided that you can give us very strong guarantee
that our share will be secured,
and that you will not take advantage of our position.

Be assured that there is absolutely nothing to worry
about in the view of this claim. It is perfectly safe
with no risks involved, and it is not subject to any
inquiry, since my partner and I will be handling the
claim directly in Nigeria on your behalf.

I do hope my proposal is acceptable to you. Please
acknowledge the receipt of this letter, so that I can
provide you with more clarification about the claim
and how we intend to make this deal beneficial to
everyone involved,

I hope to hear from you soon,
please do not forget to include your telephone number
when replying this letter.

Yours Sincerely,

Danbaba Tanko

Taking over maintenance of Data::Compare

2003-10-24 Thread David Cantrell
I've found some bugs in Data::Compare, and would like to take over
maintenance of the module so I can fix 'em. I have a patched version
ready to go just as soon as I am allowed to upload it. I will, of
course, be happy to hand maintenance back to the original author if he
ever shows up again.

The original author has not responded to email for a couple of months
now. Nor has he responded when I posted in comp.lang.perl.misc and
comp.lang.perl.modules asking for him to contact me. And when I posted
to his local perl mongers mailing list, someone there told me that he'd
forwarded my message on to him - but no response.

The bugs are:

Inappropriate use of /o on a pattern match which has an interpolated
  variable in it, and which should be reinterpolated each time;
Breaks when data structures contain Scalar::Properties objects

Also someone else has mentioned a potential bug with how it handles
references to references to (scalars|arrays|hashes) although I haven't
confirmed this myself, I just told him "patches welcome".

Module submission Win32::File::VersionInfo

2003-10-24 Thread Perl Authors Upload Server

The following module was proposed for inclusion in the Module List:

  modid:   Win32::File::VersionInfo
  DSLIP: Rdcfp
description: Reads Win32 exe,dll (PE) version information
  userid: ALEXEYT (Alexey Toptygin)

  communities:

  similar:
This is a renaming of Win32::File::Ver suggested by Autrijus Tang.

  rationale:

Namespace reasoning: this is a Win32-only module so it's under
Win32:: It reads version information, therefore
Win32::File::VersionInfo. "GetFileVersionInfo" is the name of the
core function in the Win32 API being wrapped.

This module is a perl wrapper for the Win32 Version API. It lets
you read the version information resource from files in the
Microsoft Portable Executable (PE) format (including programs, DLLs,
fonts, etc).

This module is useful for writing installers, or other tools that
need to deal with versioned programs or DLLs.

  enteredby: ALEXEYT (Alexey Toptygin)
  enteredon: Fri Oct 24 16:51:45 2003 GMT

The resulting entry would be:

containing observations for each minute of the day, the daily

update the Weather Underground at user configurable intervals, and
will store the daily extremes in a database (mysql by default).
