The perl shipped as part of Solaris is built using the Forte C
compilers. It isn't possible to build add-on modules using gcc, as
the compiler info in Config.pm is for Forte rather than gcc. This
module provides gcc-aware replacement versions of Config.pm, along
with a wrapper script to use them in place of the default Config.pm.
This module will work for perl 5.005_03 and 5.6.1 on Solaris 8, 9
and 10, and for both sparc and x86 architectures.

This worm is dangerous because it will scan your contact lists (outlook, hotmail... and others) then, send a copy of itself to those addresses.

yEnc is a new encoding format for transporting binary data in
nominally ASCII channels, such as usenet. It is an alternative to
uuencoding.

Although there are concerns about the architecture of yEnc (see,
for example, http://www.exit109.com/~jeremy/news/yenc.html), it is
now in widespread use in usenet binary groups. I need to decode
these postings, so I wrote a module to do it.

The yEnc format was developed for encoding usenet binaries, and
that is currently its most common use. This suggests a module name

MIME:: but... - yEnc isn't as big as MIME - The yEnc format will

I thought of Convert::yEnc when I had a go at fiddling with it (I think
there's still a module in my CPAN directory, but it's pretty broken[*]).
First in with Convert::RACE, for example (for internationalised domain
names).

Same with Convert::yEnc::Decoder and Convert::yEnc::Encoder, though
I'd've thought it'd make more sense to stick both into one module. After
all, we have Compress::Zlib and not Compress::Zlib::Deflate and
Compress::Zlib::Inflate, and MIME::Base64 not ::Encode and ::Decode...
you get the idea.

(a) I don't see why that's a problem
(b) I think Whatever::yEnc should be able to encode *and* decode

[*] The fact that it's a bit of a shambles -- I think it kind-of does
encoding but doesn't do decoding at all yet -- is why I didn't apply for
namespace registration. In case someone else did a proper job, they were
welcome to the namespace.

OTOH, if you want to use part or all of my code, you're also more than
welcome to do so.

I am writing a module to extend the options available in how one builds
Perl modules. It works with the ExtUtils:: modules (MakeMaker) to allow
the user to build a module from a distribution tree that is located in
another directory ('external' build, as is commonly done in GNU-style
builds of C, C++ and other kinds of source code packages).

The module is to be named "ExoBuild". I've been advised by
ExtUtil::MakeMaker's maintainer to place it in the Module:: namespace
instead of in ExtUtils::, so probably it will be called
"Module::ExoBuild" by the time I upload (release) it.
