Re: [MlMt] Message received sound configuration [feature request]

2022-09-14 Thread RANDY ABBOTT
MailMate's help for the Counter settings contains a good explanation:

Note: The current interface in the preferences pane can be misleading. The 4
radio buttons to the left are not used to configure the position of a single
counter. They are used to configure 4 separate counters.

To configure the received sound, set one of the radio buttons like so:

[MlMt] Lack of Public Updates

2024-08-28 Thread RANDY ABBOTT
A question that is asked and discussed constantly on the /r/MacApps subreddit
is which email client a Mac user should use (or its cousin, "which is the best
Mac email client"). I always advocate for MailMate, but frequently people will
respond that the application has not been updated recently or mistakenly claim
it is no longer supported. Being a member of this mailing list, I know neither
of these things are true - and I point that out. However, it does bring up the
question why there isn't more frequent public releases. The latest Release
Notes entry is from September 2020, which if I were a person researching email
clients, would make me wary of trying MailMate.

Hello,

I am new to MailMate and I apologize if these questions seems trivial.
I've read the relevant sections of the manual, but I still can't find an
answer.

* Is it possible to always display the From box, even if I'm sending an
email with the default email address?
* How can I setup Address Pattern for two domains? I have
`.*@example\.com` currently, but I would like to add another. (I am not
so great at RegExp).
* How can I get the Starred emails in Gmail to appear in MailMate? The
manual has detailed instructions for labels, but not so much for Starred
emails.

I'm afraid there's no setting for that. A workaround is to provide an
alternative dummy address in the “Email Addresses” field of the
account settings:

Email Addresses: r...@example.com, du...@example.com

I'll keep this limitation in mind when re-implementing the composer
status bar (something which I probably have to do fairly soon since it
looks even worse in Mojave Dark mode than it already does in the
current light mode).

* How can I setup Address Pattern for two domains? I have
`.*@example\.com` currently, but I would like to add another. (I am
not so great at RegExp).

One way to do it:

(.*@example1\.com|.*@example2\.com)

I've also changed the code such that when address patterns are enabled
then the From popup is always shown. That should take care of your
first question.

* How can I get the Starred emails in Gmail to appear in MailMate?
The manual has detailed instructions for labels, but not so much for
Starred emails.

The manual page says: “If you click “Edit Subscriptions” in the
IMAP account editor for a Gmail account then you might notice that
“[Gmail]/Starred” and “[Gmail]/Important” are unsubscribed. It
is important to keep it that way. The starred emails are equivalent to
flagged emails.”

Gmail “Starred” is equivalent to the IMAP keyword “\Flagged”
and Gmail does set that on starred emails. Therefore the Starred
label/mailbox itself is not needed (and would just cause duplicate
emails to appear in MailMate).

I don't see any obvious problems.

* Any of the following messages "All Messages"
* Condition: All of the following are true "Message is Flagged"

I assume, you are certain you have any flagged emails? Also try
explicitly marking an email in “All Messages” as flagged.

[MlMt] Rule will not run automatically?

2024-09-30 Thread Randy Abbott
I recently created a rule that permanently deletes all messages older
than seven days that is in the Junk folder older. While I can manually
run the rule to delete the messages, it will not run automatically.

Here is a screen shot of the rule.

2024-09-28 at 7.36.39 PM.png")

I have two rules for the Junk folder. This rule is listed after another
rule that marks-as-read messages flagged as spam, which runs
automatically without issue.

Why is this rule running automatically? Are there any setings I might
have missed that prevent automatic execution?
