FWIW, earlier versions of MailMate actually defaulted to listing attachments at
the bottom of the message. There was a hidden preference to move them to the
top, which is still mentioned in the online help section for Hidden
Preferences, but it no longer does anything. This change seems to have occurred
after a major rewrite of the message display code.

That’s good. Which version are you all in? Current Test Build is
r5892, BTW.

I don't think so. Ideally, we need something a bit like the "tray"
used when adding attachments and this should be
expandable/collapsible. But I think this kind of UI candy tends to be
quite tricky.

Maybe someone could mock up a design?

See some reference to Mail Attachments but not that specific item.
It’s mentioned in Release Notes>Revision History - at r5882, 5883.
That goes back to March, 2022. Earlier??

[MlMt] Feature Request: Make the MailMate Release Notes page searchable (Spotlight?)

2022-04-26 Thread Henry Seiden

Hello Benny and all at MailMate Developers,

I have a suggestion which occurred to me from a comment in the Users
group about showing attachment lists.

I can’t find any way to search for a word or group of words in the
MailMate doc, Release Notes, accessible from the Help menu. Looking for
a specific issue (“Attachments”) this feature might be helpful to
check for an edition a given trouble was resolved in, or a myriad of
other uses.

Respectfully,

Henry Seiden

Select all, copy, paste in your favorite text app, and search.

How about just opening this with whichever web browser you prefer:

file:Applications/MailMate.app/Contents/Resources/ReleaseNotes.html

It will retain all the formatting, although Text Edit might, too. And
it may be bookmarked. The file has been in this same location for quite
a long time.

Billy,

Thanks. Sounds like the way to go, at least for now.

Re: [MlMt] Mailbox in non threaded view by default

2022-04-26 Thread Benny Kjær Nielsen

On 21 Apr 2022, at 15:55, Alexandre Takacs wrote:

I’am having an issue by which MM (5887) would very often (but not
systematically) show my mailboxes in threaded view when I click to
switch from one to an other mailbox.

The previous state (almost always not threaded) is not preserved and I
almost aways end up into threaded view (never the other way round).

This is likely related to the general (unfortunately known and long
standing) issues with storing/restoring mailbox related states. The
“fix” is to reset this and start over with configuring
columns/threading using this Terminal command (quit MailMate before
doing this):

   defaults delete com.freron.MailMate MmMailboxRelatedStates

Is there a way to set the default view and /or to have MM not loose
the current setting ?

For threading specifically, some users would like to disable everywhere
all the time. For this purpose, there's a stop-gap solution using this
preference:

	defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmForcedThreadingType -string
"flatThreading"
