Is there a way to move these configurations from one computer to the

When MailMate is **not** running then it's safe to move any of the
`.plist` files:

~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/*.plist

Some of them need to go together, but if you haven't changed anything
account related then it's fine to move the `Mailboxes.plist` file. You
should have the same accounts on both computers and they should be
configured them in the same way (if the IMAP server allows different
usernames, like Gmail, for the same IMAP account then you could run into
issues).

This does **not** work. If MailMate is running on the destination

However, best if MM would allow to specify where prefs are stored and

Yes, that would be best, but it's not a simple change (at least not for
some of the configuration files). Interestingly, an IMAP server could be
used for the sharing avoiding the need for a third party sharing service
(at the cost of some private/secret MailMate-related IMAP mailbox to
store these files).

MailMate has so-called bundles (see the Bundles preferences pane). In
addition to that, there is the
[`emate`](https://manual.mailmate-app.com/emate) command and an extended
[`mailto:`](https://manual.mailmate-app.com/extended_url_scheme) URL
scheme. There is little AppleScript support, but the `perform` command
can be quite useful. Apparently, I've not documented [that last
one](https://www.mail-archive.com/mailmate@lists.freron.com/msg03350.html)
:-(

The reason I ask is that we are using Daylite as our CRM software and
one of its features is a nice integration with Apple Mail, which
provides really useful functionality.

https://www.marketcircle.com/help/article/Daylite-mail-assistant-DMA/

I've looked into this in the past and it appears to be a huge task to
replicate (and far from straightforward).

As it is, it seems that we need to use Apple Mail for business mails
and MailMate for any other mails.

I just noticed that MailMate is not even on the list of mail clients
that their system can use for sending mail:

https://www.marketcircle.com/help/article/which-email-clients-are-supported-by-daylite/

If you ask them then let them know I'm willing to add whatever they need
to make it work. I *think* all they need is the
[AppleScript](https://manual.mailmate-app.com/extended_url_scheme)
support for creating new messages.

[MlMt] smart mailbox flagged

2017-01-06 Thread Robert Brenstein
I’d like the smart mailbox “flagged” to show a submailbox for each
flag. Ideally, I’d like to see simply the flag icon as the submailbox
name.

I got as far as

sub mailbox for each unique value of: flags
mailbox name format: ${#flags.flag.#name}

This shows the correct submailboxes but the shown names include all tags
and flags not just the mailflags. The odd part is that the list of tags
in the names does not always include $MailFlagBitX and sometimes
includes more than one.

Note that the default name format is suggested as: ${#flags}
This produces essentially the same submailbox names, just the order of
listed tags is different.

I think this can happen if you ever dragged an email into the

on the server, but this is not possible with Gmail putting it into the
failed state. It's not a problem, but you might want to take the mailbox

Why not just tag messages with an abbreviation for these notes/actions
and then create smart mailboxes that filters for those tags? The
autocomplete function in MM's tagging works well, so if you plan your
tags well it could just be few keystrokes — and I wouldn't call the
smart mailbox fancy:

Mailbox > New Smart Mailbox > Conditions > 'Tags' / 'is' / [your tag]

So, for example, typing 'tmi[enter]' could ~file a message with the tag
'mi' for 'missing info'.

I use MailMate in conjunction with OmniFocus to create notes like these.
(Any task manager will do). You can either embed the whole message to
just provide a link to the message within OmniFocus, using one of

for me.
