Yes, google is aware of this problem and they are trying to solve it. In the

what I've been doing and it sitll works.

Courtney, make sure you are on the safari toolbar, the first button on the
toolbar is back. Arrow all the way to the right and there is a search box, mine
says google wehn I arrow to it. IF yours doesn't, it probably still is the

scanning and ocr

2010-05-25 Thread Ronit Ovadia Mazzoni
Hi everyone,
I know this topic has been discussed several times on the list. I've read over
the archives but am still not sure the best option for me. I have tried both
Vuescan and Abbyfine reader express, and both seem difficultto use. In
addition, I noticed that even with Abbyfine reader, the ocr quality is not
great. IT's not comparable to kurzweil under windows. I don't realy like
vuescan for scanning, as I find it difficult to use. I have tried using image
capture and then importing the documents in to abbyfine reader, but this also
is not very helpful and the ocr quality is poor. Do you know if read iris is
better? I can't seem to find a trial for read iris. Do any of you know of one?
Or have any other suggestions for me? I love my mac but this is one area where
I can't seem to get things to work right for me.
Thanks.

Re: itunes home sharing

2010-05-29 Thread Ronit Ovadia Mazzoni
Hi Christina,
I got this to work. First you must find the file in his library by going to his
library in your sources list. Do a search in the searchbox for the song you
want. Go to the songs list and select the song you want to import. Then stop
interacting with the list and move the VO cursor tot he right and you'll see an
import button. If just one song is selected, you can hit the import button and
it'll put it in your library. To check that it's there, go back to your sources
list and go select your own library and search for the song you just imported.
IT should appear in teh song list. Let me know if this doesn't work, but I've
just done this recently. I haven't triedmulti=file imports, just one at a time.

Re: itunes home sharing

Yes you don't have to search for the song, I just know that libraries are big
and it's sometimes hard to arrow down until you find the song you want. But
yes, if only one is selected, it will only import that one song, not the whole
library.
Hope it works for you! I love this feature ofthe new itunes.

Re: itunes home sharing

2010-05-29 Thread Ronit Ovadia Mazzoni
This file might be a protected drm itunes song. Try importing a straight mp3
file first. IF this works, you'll know your sharing is done correctly. If you
are trying to import a song that is protected, you must authorize your computer
to play his protected itunes purchased songs. I think there is an option in teh
menu of the store that lets you do this. You'd basically select the authorize
function and enter his uername and password and that should work. But in order
to check the sharing function, try importing just a straight unprotected mp3
file first.

Re: safari 5 bug not fixed with new os release

2010-06-15 Thread Ronit Ovadia Mazzoni
It happens when you are signed in to audible with your audible account. For me,
it doesn't happen when I am not signed in. And yes, Olivia, it is still broken
as of the new update for today.

using facebook with safari

2010-03-14 Thread Ronit Ovadia Mazzoni
Hello all,
I'm new to the list and new to using Mac. I just got my mac mini two weeks ago
and so far I'm really enjoying it. One thing I'd like to know is if any of you
use the regular facebook site with safari and voiceover successfully? I'm
having trouble locating edit boxes on the site. For example, updating status
messages, writing on people's walls, etc. Of course I can do this by accessing
the mobile site but the mobile site is not as powerful as the full site and I'd
like to use the full site if possible. If any of you have any tricks or tips,
I'd love to hear them.
Thanks.

speaking announcements in ichat

2010-03-19 Thread Ronit Ovadia Mazzoni
Hi everyone,
I've been experimenting with the notification settings in Ichat and I noticed
that you can have it speak an announcement when a buddy logs in, for example.
When I turn this feature on, the voice it uses speaks very slowly, even though
my system voice set in the speech preferences is set to the highest rate. Is
there any way I can change the system voice so that it speaks the announcements
faster? Like I said, I've already set the voice to speak at the highest rate in
the speech preferences.
Thanks.

problem printing from my tiger embosser using louis

2010-03-24 Thread Ronit Ovadia Mazzoni
Hi everyone,
I have a tiger cub Jr embosser and I was able to install it and use it with
louis to print out a file. However, I"m having trouble with margins. Even
though the paper is aligned correctly when the printer starts, the top line of
braille always gets cut off. I can't find any settings in louis to change
margins. Do I need to change the number of lines per page in order to fix this?
I am currently using the default lines per page and cells per line recommended
by my embosser which is 33 cells per line and 23 lines per page for an 8.5/11
inch paper. OR are margins controlled in whatever program I used to create the
file? I used TextEdit.
Thanks.

re: itunes

2010-03-31 Thread Ronit Ovadia Mazzoni
I too am having the problem with itunes wehre if the genius mixes is selected
in the sources table, nothing appears next to it. If I press play, a playlist
will start playing but I can't access this playlist. I have things showing as
list view and have the column browser turned off. IF anyone has any ideas to
get this feature to work, that'd be great.
Thanks.

braillenote pk as display with voiceover

2010-04-18 Thread Ronit Ovadia Mazzoni
Hi everyone,
I have a braillenote PK and I was trying to get it hooked up with my mac as a
display to use with voiceover. I was able to get the braillenote paired with my
mac but when I try to add it in the voiceover utility, I am told that the
driver cannot be loaded. The braillenote is in terminal mode as the dialogue
suggests it shoudl be and voiceover still cannot load the driver. Does anyone
have any ideas on what else I can try?
Thanks so much.
