Re: touch typing

2021-05-29 Thread Portia Scott
Hello Lorie,

It sounds like you are experiencing something called slide to type.
You may wish to turn this off, if it is giving you issues.

1. Go into your settings app on any iOS device.
Step 2.
Go under the keyboard settings, under general.

Step 3.
Switch the “Slide to type“ button to off. It’ll be on, by default.

Hth,
Portia.

Well heck, I'd say yes.

2016-07-08 Thread Portia Scott
Hi all,

It arrived around three o'clock in the afternoon it yesterday, and
didn't come with an eye doctor. Unfortunately, I do not have a TV to
hook the adapter into, but just have the HDMI part in the Mac mini
port. I will definitely look into this fit headless device, When I
have more money next month. Sounds like it will definitely be very
useful.

Re: OS10.9.2 is out!

2014-02-26 Thread Portia Scott
Hello all,

I installed the update last night and it is really awesome. I find it faster
when going through my applications folder on my MacBook Pro 09 model. It used
to be slow going through it with quick nag on, but not anymore.

Have a great day, and smile on.

Regards,

Portia.

Funnily enough, they are asking people to report scare adds, according
to various articles on the internet. Or, at least, Chrontech is.
Ziobits old popup adds basically used a malware called Mac Defender to
trash MacKeeper, according to various internet articles. Interesting
they are settling this lawsuit.

Re: Deleting mail in Mail.app

Hello,

The All Mail is your Archived mail folder. Basically, its the folder you save
mail in on GMail's site. Wasn't sure if ya'all knew, so thought I'd chip in.

Have a great awesome night,

 Hi James.
Maybe I was a bit unclear in my previous mail.
I am using IMAP on the Mac.
The problem is that Mail.app on the Mac creates a new folder to move
deleted mail to instead of using the "original" one that Gmail uses.
Isn't there any place to setup this - like there is in Thunderbird?

How do you, or can you, go back to the previous page while browsing with
 Safari?

In the global help, I saw a shortcut key, command-[, for going back in
browsers. I've noticed that this works in some HTML browser views on the
Mac, but not in others. It doesn't work at all for me in Safari.

I looked in the Safari help, but the sections on Shortcuts and Keyboard
Shortcuts don't seem to list a key for this purpose.

 Have I missed something?

Mac won't boot from anything but cd and dvd

2016-11-17 Thread Portia Scott
Hey all,

For some odd reason, my friend Michelle's MacBook Pro, Which is from mid 2009,
Will not boot anything unless it is from a CD/DVD.

I have tried redoing the USB thumb drive/ SD card, both with terminal using the
MacWorld article, And the disc maker ex six release candidate version that is
made for Mack OS Sierra.

Could the hard drive be totally gone? It won't install Mac from the DVD, But
funnily enough, it will install Linux…

I am not sure what is going on with it, but I do not know what to do at this
point. I have tried helping her in any way, shape or form. We did redo the SD
card and USB drive for two days straight. So any ideas would be very
appreciated, thank you very much

Sincerely,

A very confused and baffled Portia, lol.

PS. Sorry for the mention of linux, just... . Very confused and baffled
here.

Re: Shopping on Amazon using Safari on Mac OS

2017-04-15 Thread Portia Scott
Hi Paul,

I am having the same issue as you, and am using both a Mac Mini 2012
running Sierra, and a MacBook Air running the same. It seems to only
happen on certain macs, as my friend Michelle does not seem to have
this issue.

Unfortunately, I can only suggest the same thing as was posted before,
just disable javascript, and then re-enable when finished.

Yucky work around, I know.

here are some bugs I have found. I'm not noticing my touch screen on
 my 6S behaving any differently.
 1. The messages rotor option has disappeared from mail. There is an
actions rotor option, but no effective way to jump between messages.
 2. When editing using a braille display, the cursor jumps around
 erradically.
 3. In the weather app, the 24 hour forecast does not display the hour.
E.G. 8 PM, sunny, 77 degrees. The hour of that forecasted weather
condition and tempature is not read by VO.
 4. When typing using a braille display, for some reason, text
shortcuts appear not to be functioning. It works fine using the
 onscreen keyboard.

Yes, and this applies too, if you search for an app that you have
previously installed as well, apparently, but want to reinstall. This
is quite unfortunate, as now, if people want to download old apps,
they will have to use iTunes.

Thanks for all the clarification on this.

Mac mini 2012

Hello all,

Earlier this month, I purchased a Mac mini 2012. Does the Mac mini
from that year, need a DVI adapter? If so, what kind of adapter would
I need? Thank you.

Also, if you know a good computer store, or you know how to yourself,
you can upgrade the ram, I believe up to 16 GB. At least, mine can be
upgraded that much, yours may be only 8 GB. Still, that is decent.

Mac mini and SSD ideas/thoughts

2016-09-25 Thread Portia Scott
Hi all,

Has anyone checked out the portable, external Samsung T3 SSD’s from Amazon? Do
you think this would be a good idea? I thought it might, as getting it to a
shop to get an internal one would be hard, if you bought your mac mini used or
like-new from somewhere else. Maybe, just maybe, these may be useful to run Mac
OS?

They are palm-sized.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Portia.

Wait, they have thunderbolt ones, too? The Samsung palm-sized ones I saw are

Some mac mini’s they can take dual hard drives, from what I understand. But all
mac installers are accessible, so if need be, you can install Sierra on your

Re: Installing a new SSD Drive. what should i do to transfer my system?

2016-09-25 Thread Portia Scott
As far as your question about moving your old install to it, I think… and
someone can gently correct me if needed, but you may be able to use something
like Superduper backup software, to make a bootable copy of your current hard
drive. However, that does cost money. Unfortunately, I don’t know of any free
program to do this.

Fit Headless devices.

2016-09-25 Thread Portia Scott
Hello all,

I just received a note from Compulab, and they are saying the Fit Headless GS,
which is the $15.00 model, is for streaming and video resolutions, while the
Fit Headless 4K, which is the $25.00 model, is for high resolution.

Now, my question. Since macs use a high resolution, should I have bought the
Fit Headless 4K? Maybe, if anyone else that is new to mac is considering a mac
mini, you should possibly consider this Fit headless 4K device instead? I don’t
know, just was wondering, since they emailed me through Amazon.

Portia.

Yeah Samsung states on Amazon, so I don’t know. And unfortunately, I don’t have

you have bought it from Apple directly. So thats why the curiosity about the
