Downloading books shortcuts?

2012-07-06 Thread Mary Scott
Hi all, I download books from BARD and Bookshare to my Victer Stream. I am
hoping there is a more streamline way. I go to the downloads foulder with
command option L, copy the file, than press VO J to go to the sidebar, then
navigate to Victer Card, then VO J again to get to the Talking Book folder, and
then paste it into the folder. This works fine but it seems like I should be
able to cut out some of the back and forth and up and down. Is there a way to
jump directly from Downloads to the Talking book folder on the Stream? I hope
this is clear. Mel

iTunes is making me crazy

2012-07-31 Thread Mary Scott
Hi all, iTunes keeps prompting me for my ID and password over and over. I only
want to practice my music that is on the desk top. I am wanting a hammer.
What to do? Mel

iTunes and VLC

2012-08-06 Thread Mary Scott
Hi all, I like to use my Mac to practice my music. ITunes is so so annoying to
me. Is VLC better and simpler or should I make myself conquer iTunes? I will
be downloading ML in a couple of days if this makes a difference. Mel

Hi all, I am so excited. My son downloaded ML today for me. It was a bit
dicey but it is okay now. My question is, when dictating, is it necessary to
say every punctuation or does it get it by the way it sounds?

iTunes promting me for password

2012-08-08 Thread Mary Scott
Hi all, I nor anyone in my family have yet to disable the iTunes prompt for
Apple Id and password. All I want to do is go to my desktop where my singing
tracks are located and listen to them one after the other. As it is now, I
have to tell ITunes to cancel the prompt after every song I listen to. Please
give me directions to bury this very deep. Mel

Dragging and dropping frustration

Okay, I attempted several times to drag my Mac List mailbox over to my
Favorites bar so that it will pop up when pressing command 2. I went to the
list and marked it successfully for dragging. I went to Drafts which is in the
second position and marked it for dropping. It made the satisfying dragging
noises and then said it failed to drop of Drafts. What else can I do? Mel

Mail issue

Hi all, I just downloaded ML so I am sorry if this has been answered. Mail was

means I have to move through windows to find the site and then mail acts very
strange and I have trouble getting back to it. Any ideas what is going on?

commands menues

2012-08-10 Thread Mary Scott
I am studying the commands menus in Help. I am noticing that several commands
do not have keystrokes paired with them. Does this mean we should create our
own? Also, I am having trouble actually finding things when I press VO F for
Finding e-mails or words in a website. What am I missing? Mel

I do need a lot of hand holding and I am sorry about that. I don't know why I
could not find the search field in iTunes. I know all this is second nature to
most of you but to a post menopausal woman with a relatively new Mac, I feel
quite bold to attempt any of this. Please please be patient with me or direct

Re: Please explain disclosure triangles

2012-08-14 Thread Mary Scott
This is so super. Thank you. My son spent time with me today and helped me so
much. I discovered that my biggest issue with opening files is that I did not
realize how long I had to wait before the file actually opened. I tend to be
impatient and my son just kept telling me to wait and let the computer do what
it needs to do. So if there are impatient souls out there, waiting is good
advice. He also fixed my iTunes by completely recreating it. It was very
messed up. It was not me
. I was beginning to think I was a moron. Mel On Aug 14, 2012, at 10:08 AM,

I know this has been answered. Sorry. I just watched the podcast on Applevis
about sending messages to IOS devices with the Messages Ap. It seemed so easy
but I can't locate the edit box to write a message nor can I find a send
button. Do I need to download something to make it work and is there a more
indepth tutorial? Mel

2012-09-10 Thread Mary Scott
Hi Scott, I tried pressing VO space on toggle reader in the tool bar. It said
dimmed and I could not get it to do anything. I also tried command shift r and
that did not work either. What might be wrong? I tried it on your website.

Color visor

2012-10-23 Thread Mary Scott
Okay, I am frustrated. I don't understand this app. I just want to know the
color of the thing I am pointing at. It chatters on about all kinds of colors
How am I supposed to know what the correct color is? I seems as though as
though a sighted person needs to to tell which is the correct color. That is
not very helpful. I am reading the help information but it is still very
confusing. Can somebody explain this app to me and what I can and can not do
with it? Is it really for blind people? Mel
