Amadeus and GarageBand
Hi folks, I'm so thankful for this group. I've learned so very much just keeping my mouth, or rather fingers shut and listening in on the informative dialog herein. I am in the process of building a little home studio for my own entertainment, or perhaps I should say, amusement.Anyway, I hear a lot about Amadeus Pro and GarageBand. Admittedly,I ask in ignorance: What are the primary differences between the two? Is one easier to use? Better then the other? Thanks for helping me so I can make a better informed choice on which one to go with. Or is it that I should consider using both programs to produce live recordings? Just to give you a little more insight into what we are doing, I should tell you that I wish to record my own music using a musical keyboard workstation. I would also like to get back into producing comercial jingles and a little radio broadcasting for our local ministry her in Erie, PA. Pages start-up
Hi all, I just started using Pages. When I got my MBP one year ago, I was still using my word processor in Windows at the time, so with everything going on in my life, I didn't need another program to learn. Strange enough, I'm busier now then before. But for portability sake, I'm needing to use my 13" MBP and Pages. I don't remember how Pages looked on start-up, but I don't think the opening screen was as cluttered as it is now. When I first start Pages, what always first comes up is a document, sort of. Its got my signature at the bottom alright, but above my signature, is something written in scrambled eggs or a foreign language. There are also data entry fields on this page. So, not knowing any better, I have to erase this mystery page so I can start with a clean slate. i did go snooping around the Pages Preferences, and view menus, but I couldn't figure out how to set my desired start-up screen. I'm wondering if there was a way to reset Pages to it's original default settings? Afterwords, I'll try to learn from you guys how to set up Pages so it will best work with VO. Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction. Not of this world, I am born of the forty-second generation of a new race. VO Eloquent help please
Hi again, Well to go along with my last post to the list, I am doing a lot of writing because I am in University to acquire a ministry degree. Hence my Eloquent question. How-be-it, perhaps in not so eloquent english. As I referenced in my previous post, I had been using my Windows based Bible study program for my daily use. It's familiarity of use was the real reason why I never seriously pursued learning the Eloquent program. But for portability sake, I now need to learn how to use this program. If CJ and some others would like to give me some pointers using Eloquent, please help. Hi Kawal, I went to my I-Phone mailbox list of mailboxes page where I see: Inbox folder, Drafts folder, Outbox folder, Sent folder and the Trash folder. I also see three buttons on the bottom of the I-Phone screen: Refresh, update and compose. I see no edit button on this page. However, there is an edit button at the top right of any of the individual folder pages listed above. What am I missing? Attachments and embedded links
Hi folks, with VO+shift+spacebar or with quicknav on and enter. Nor could I find it with the item chooser. My answer is probably right under my big Italian nose, bu I have yet to find it. am I missing? Thanks inn advance for your help, Perhaps this has been covered before, and if it has been, please give me a little grace. What I created a document in an I-Phone app called Documents 2. From that app I emailed that document to my MBP mail program. It showed up as an attachment embeded link. How do I open this link? It seems that no matter what I do I am unable to open it. A couple more questions about embeded attachment documents
Thanks to whoever it was who sent me the much needed information on how to open an embeded attachment. When using the Command+Y command, the attachment document.txt opens in something called quick look.First, how can I get this txt doc to open in Pages? Or what is the select all command so I can paste it into Pages. Also, is it possible to open more then one or two docs at the same time and alt tab between them so I can copy and move text between them? How can I do this? FYI, There are four txt documents I need to be able to manipulate in Pages.. Thank you, Johnny Not of this world, I am born of The forty-second generation A new, powerful race, never seen before. Page up? Page down?
Hi all, Just a short, little question: In the VO help keyboard commands for navigating around documents, I seethe command for Page up is VO Page up, and for page down, the command is VO Page Down. My problem is that there are no Page up or Page down keys on my MBP like on a regular or full-sized keyboard. What keys or keyboard commands do I use for page up and page down on my MBP? Re-setting Vo in Safari
Hi again folks, I am having such a time at navigating around web pages in Safari. It may be perhaps because I messed around too much with the Vo settings trying to figure out a way that works best for me on how to get around web pages Well I have been playing around and changing things so much over the last year that I'm afraid that I have gotten too far away from the original Safari/VO setup that I need help getting back to where I first got my MBP. Is there a way to re-set my BO / Safari relationship back to when things were brand new? Perhaps then I will be able to better learn how to navigate Safari more proficiently. Hope I was at least somewhat clear in what I am asking. Thanks for posting your always helpful suggestions and instructions. Scary MBP
Hi all, I'm just wondering what causes my MBP to turn on all by itself after having been off for several hours. It's a little un-nerving to be sitting at your desk minding your own business on your Windows machine when all of a sudden the MBP lights up and plays it's startup sound. This happened to me a couple of times in a row with several hours in between the other night. Here I am a day and a half later and going to the MBP, and finding it, - you got it, already turned on and booted up to my desktop when I lifted the lid. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that I forgot that I had it plugged into the AC all that time, meaning over the last couple of days. While I'm thinking of it, perhaps I should ask if leaving it plugged in does any harm to anything. I don't think so but maybe I'm wrong about that. Thanks for any input on this scary situation. Hi Harry, Would you please be so kind as to give me a step by step instruction on how to use the search feature in pages? I tried with cmd+F and was unsuccessful. How do I best set up mail with conversations?
Hi all, I was using mail in classic view and seeing my list of messages one message at a time only in order of date. Consequently, conversations were quite broken up and if I had no intrest in a particular subjet, I had to wait to get to the next like message before I could delete it. This method proved to be teedious at best and slow to clean up my inbox. So I would like to try to view mail in a simular fashon like I do with my I-phone mail with conversations. However, unlike my I-phone, I would like to be able to view messages by conversation with the oldest message first so as to be able to follow the conversations logically. Ayway, I need someone to please walk me through the setup in mail preferences, and then please tell me what the keyboard commands are for reading messages in my preferred manner. After installing ML my mailboxes are MIA
Hi! After installing ML, I have discovered that when I went to move a post into a previously set up mailbox, all of my mailboxes are missing. Here's what I have done in the past: after reading a post that I feel I need to save, I would close the message and press VO + Shift + "M" t bring up the context menu with all of my mailboxes listed. Ten I would go to "Move To" option in that list and hit return or right arrow to open the list. Then I would go to the mailbox I wish to save the said post into and hit return on that mailbox, and walla! The post is moved. however I cannot see my mailboxes in this list anymore. If I stop interacting with the messages table and VO+left arrow over to the mailboxes menu, listed there are all of the mailboxes I have created. How do I repopulate the context menu to show my mailboxes once again? Thanks, Johnny Not of this world, I am born of The forty-second generation A new, powerful race, never seen before. Wish to join? Re: Mac feel natural
Hi all, Well I just got my first MBP June 18, 2011. Between taking care of income property and working a job, an advocation, and a vocation with no vacation coming up soon enough, I'm still learning slowly but surely whoever surely may be. All I can say is that the folks on this list are patient and very helpful. I have even learned just enough to actually help with some basics folks may have questions about. Just don't give up on it. The Apple platform is the most stable platform there is. As for Windows, it unfortunately is still necessary for me to use at the job I mentioned. And even though we are inclined to get used to the general quirkiness of your friendly neighborhood screenreader with your unfriendly neighborhood Windows platform, like getting used to driving on the other side of the road, after a few bumps and dings and crackups, you and I both can learn to love loving it more and more each day. Checking to select something
Hi all, I have just downloaded a Bible app for the I-phone called YouVersion. It is a requirement to read the terms of service and then to check the terms of service circle to submit your agreement to it. On the I-phone I double tap the screen to select the unchecked circle, but then I hear VO say: "Selected, circle unchecked." If I double tap the screen again, I hear: "Circle unchecked." Without being able to check this circle you are not able to use the app. It's a free app Is anyone able to tell me how to select this circle so I can finish my registration of the app and then be able to access it? Re: a list of accessible apps?
Hi again Mike, Thanks for these links for the list. I am familiar with both programs. Bible Gateway does indeed work well on both the Mac and Windows platforms. Mac Sword however is another thing. The program is now called Eloquent. As of a couple of months ago, it was not easly accessible with VO. But to be fair, I haven't looked at it recently. Perhaps there's been a recent update that fixes it's inaccessibility issues. As for a good, accessible Bible program for the I-Phone, Youversion looks promising. The problem I have encountered is the troubling inaccessibility of the registration process via the I-Phone. I understand that the work around is to register the use of the program via either a Mac or a Windows based computer. I'll keep you updated on my progress with Youversion. Hi everyone,
I goofed something up in mail. Now whenever I either close or delete the last message in a conversation, mail places me back to the top of my inbox list. Does anyone know what I must do to correct this annoying behavior? Blessings, JC Not of this world, I am born of The forty-second generation A new, powerful race, never seen before. Wish to join? MB quirky behavior
Hi everyone, Lately, my 13" mb has been doing some strange things. If I go into an application menu with VO M, I am unable to escape out of that menu bar back to my application. This is common lately. Today, after booting up, I pressed VO D to go to the dock to open mail and a unwanted program was opened but had no window but command Q couldn't close that program. So I tried going to the doc again and was successful this time. However after selecting mail, mail did not come to the forground. So I alt tabbed to get to mail. I then alt tabbed to see if I could close the unwanted program, (I'm sorry I don't remember what program that was), that program did not come up in the alt tabbing order. There has been some other quirky things happening lately that I may get to at a later date. Does anyone have any ideas on what is happening with my MB, and does anyone have any corrective procedures I can try? Thank you, Blessings, John Not of this world, I am born of The forty-second generation A new, powerful race, never seen before. Wish to join? Initiation is completely FREE! Re: Refresher needed please
Hi Christopher, Well, I was able to get the Audacity folder on my desktop. However, after opening that folder I see an Audacity applickkation file. But when I went to copy that file to my applications folder I am stopped there. I am unable to copy and paste that folder into the applications folder. Not only that but whenever I have tried to invoke the Audacity application file, I am told that the program is not able to be opened because of settings in my security preferences. So when I when to change my security preferences, I was warned that my new setting leaves the computer more vonerable to security breaches or something like that... Then a message showed up saying that instead of changeing my security preferences, that I could do a Control click on the application and that I would then be able to invoke the program. At least I thing that's what it said. Anyway, I tried that and the Mac placed me back on the desktop once again, and around and around I go! It sort of reminds me of an old Beatles song "...when I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide, then I stop and I turn and I go for a ride, when I get to the bottom and I see you again, yah yah yah..." So anyway what am I doing wrong? Thanks, Blessings, JohnOn Apr 12, 2013, at 3:38 AM, Chris H wrote: > Ok to open the Downloads folder press command-option-l from within the > Finder. Logitech usb multy function sterrio headsets
Hi all, I have been using a small mono bluetooth earpiece and i do like it. Someday I would like to invest in a stereo et. But I found this Logitech headset and mic I had from when I took an online class. Is there a way to use this headset? I tried hooking it up with my MBP, but I kept getting a bluetooth error even though my bluetooth earpiece is shut off. Any ideas? Eloquent anyone?
Hi again everyone, Anyone using the Bible study program. I am in need of understanding how to effectively navigate this program. With my wife's limited help, (I say limited only because she has never used any Apple product before my getting my MBP), we were able to download the Eloquent program and several Bible study modules. But to be honest with you, I have been unable to get my arms around the VO accessibility of the program. Any pointers as to where I could get hold of a list of VO commands and perhaps some tips on how to effectively manipulate and access the Eloquent program is greatly appreciated. Mail quirkeyness
Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced some quirkiness in mail lately. Last night, control option shift m did not work at all for me to bring up my various mailboxes to store mail into. I tried quitting mail and re-invoking it, and then completely shutting down and restarting Lion, but it still did not work. Tonight, this hotkey command brings a different, short menu up that has nothing to do with mailboxes at all. Any ideas? i could really use your help on this one as I am still in baby steps learning mode. Smile. Safari help sorly needed
Hi all, I tried asking this once before, but I don't think my question got through to the list. At any rate, here goes: I need help understanding how to download programs from websites in Safari. Would someone please be so kind as to offer me a detailed teaching on how to do this? I would click on a download link, but to me nothing is happening. When I navigate to the download button, I can see at least one of the programs I have tried downloading, but I don't know what I am to do to get the program onto my mbp from there. Hi Ezzie, Please forgive my brazen importunity, (smile)but, I don't know if you were able to get my original request asking you if you would be kind enough to also send me a copy of the same book you offered Kliph, but, while hoping not to be a pest, I thought I would kindly ask you once again. VO List numbering
Hi folks, A quick question: I think this was covered before, but, is there a way to get vo to report what number of say a particular post is in the middle of a long list of email posts? I'm getting ready to edit a long list of emails, and I think it a handy tool as in other email clients that identify what message number you are looking at in a long item list. Download link in email invisable to vo
Hi all, A couple of things: i know everyone is busy, but if someone would be so kind as to point me in the right direction for me to learn how to go about downloading a program off of a website, I would be greatly appreciative indeed. The other thing is, I wish to download a trial version of theBento database program. I was able to get an email from the FileMaker company, with the download link in it, but vo is unable to see it for me to activate it. Can someone please help me out with this? Re: Download link in email invisable to vo
Hi Colin, Well this email is really something else! Even when I am simply down arrowing in the post from the PC File company, vo seems to read a couple of lines at a time. Vo repeadily reports: spacer, tab, spacer, tab etc. before I hear the trial download link. Right or left arrowing does not find the link, and control option shift M does not work at all in the opened email from them. The first time this happened to me a couple of weeks ago, I thought I was doing something wrong in understanding how to move mail. But I found out that I was doing things right, but the mail was just remaking itself in the inbox even after moving it. Strange. Hi there fellow Macvisionaries, Would someone please tell me how I can invoke the screen curtain? But also, does this affect how Vo operates? Thanks, Johnny Angel! Re: Drawing the screen curtain
Hi Adrienne and all, Well all I can say is that God takes care of His own! The piano business is doing good. But it also means that i've been away from the list. So now I'm playing email catchup! I know, don't overuse the explanation mark! Right? Anyway, I just wish to thank you all for answering my questions. You guys are great! I'm really happy I got a MacBook Pro! It just works!!!
