Re: Tip: Facebook Tagging Seems to Work Best With Cursor tracking Off
Hello Teresa And All, I've been tagging people in a bit of a different way. I type the @ symbol followed by the first few letters of a person's name. I then proceed with the press of the ENTER key and the rest of the person's name is completed. Hello Esther and others, My thumb drive is not in use when I try to eject it. COMMAND E is not working. What else can be going on? Ezzie - Original Message - From: Esther Subject: Ejecting a USB flash drive with a keyboard shortcut [was Re: MBPKeyboard] Hi Ezzie and Others, The usual reason that a drive fails to eject is that it is still in use. This could be either because a copy or write operation is still going on and transferring data, or because you have navigated into the file structure of the drive in Finder to query contents. I do find that Command-E works to eject drives provided they are not in use, but there's nothing wrong with following either Ricardo's method with the context menu or Gigi's checks that the device is not active. Re: cannot receive Skype voice mail
That's interesting. I never had to set up call forwarding in order to get Voicemail to work. It has always worked for me without me having to do much. Ezzie - Original Message - From: Ray Foret Jr Yes, I am not receiving any voice mails; and, in answer to the history question. There are no entries showing voice mail at all. With respect, I would not have written about the problem if I had no problem. However, I may have perhaps discovered a work around. According to a Skype post on the tech forum, What I have to do is to set up call forwarding and in the box where you enter the number to be forwarded to, enter your user name. Now, there are three edit areas where one can enter a phone number; area code, prefix and last four digits. Question seems then to be which of these boxes to enter my Skype name in to; and, do I then set up for forwarding or send to Voice mail? A little weird but the ony solution I believe at the moment. I should like to point out that I see posts on that forum suggesting I'm not the only Mac user with this issue and the latest version of Skype beta. Sincerely, The Constantly Barefooted Ray!!! Help please! My MacBook is not turning on
Hello friends: The subject says it, my MacBook is not turning on, despite the charger being plugged in. The last time I used it, I only shut the lid for the night and the next day it wouldn't power on. I plugged it into the charger thinking that it might have died, but it still doesn't turn on. Re: Help please! My MacBook is not turning on
Hi: I've tried the suggestions that you guys sent me, including everything that's in the online support article. Unfortunately, my MacBook will still not turn on. The speech is not muted, as I can tell that the light on my screen is it coming on. I also have the control F 11 and F 12 Comanced make sounds when I increase and decrease the volume, as that is how I can sometimes tell whether my computer is on and I'm just turned off voiceover for the use of someone else. I hear no chime or anything when I try powering up the computer. I guess I'm going to have to visit the Apple Store, which is always a nightmare! LOL. iTunes 12 Questions
Hello friends: I seem to be having difficulties with iTunes 12. I never used the Grid view, always preferring the List view. Is the Grid view the only viewing option on iTunes 12? If not, how can I go back to the List view? I've looked through the preferences and menus, and cannot find anything of the sort. When I have tried playing TV episodes in my iTunes library, iTunes goes "busy" on me. When it manages to play, I noticed it played a wrong episode, and not the one that I wanted to watch. Also, I noticed that content is not being synced to my iDevices. When I plug them into my Mac, iTunes goes "busy" again. How can I resolve this "busy" issue? If the Grid view is the only way to view things in my iTunes library, what is the effective way to play the proper selected TV episodes? Any help is appreciated. re: Questions about Skype and the Macintos Time
Hi Francisco, Look for the "contacts monitor" button to the left of the contacts list. When you press it, Skype will only show you the contacts who are online. To quickly check the time on your Mac, you will first need to enable the shortcut on your keyboard. To do this, open the VoiceOver Utility by pressing VO and F8. Select the commanders category. When you do that, press the tab key and select the keyboard tab with VO and the space bar. Press the tab key again to Check the box that says "enable keyboard commander". Keep pressing the tab key to select the rest of the settings. Whichever option key you use will become your commander key. On the following table, press VO and the right arrow until you find the T followed by the button that'll inticate the time of day. When you close the utilitity, you will now be able to check the time by pressing the option key you chose along with the letter T. Hello list, I've been trying a new web browser for quite some time now, Lightning. Lightning works pretty well. I have not had VoiceOver say "Lightning Busy"--not nearly as much as "Safari Busy". Although VoiceOver doesn't always interact with the HTML content, I am satisfied with Lightning. VO will also not alert the user when the page has loaded, but I've found that they load quickly. If you'd like to give Lightning a try, you can get it free via the App store. Just search for the Lightning web browser. Re: Looking for a good unzipping program.
Hi Paul, I, too, recommend the Unarchiver. It will unzip rar files. Download it free of charge at the Apple App Store. Ezzie - Original Message - From: Paul Erkens If you need an archiving shell that unzips, zips etc, I had better zip from the app store. If you want to unrar, you can install the trial version of rar for os10. Worked like a charm. I have not used it since Lion is installed though, but perhaps just take a look. Betterzip zips and unzips natively, and it supports a number of other formats. It is not cheap though, but given the number or archives I have on my external drive, it was worth it. Paul. Re: Blackboard
Thank you so much, Justin! Omniweb is AWESOME! I, too, have emailed Apple Accessibility regarding the Blackboard issue. I encourage all other college students on this list to email them as well. The address is accessibil...@apple.com. Ezzie - Original Message - From: "Justin Ekis" I'm sorry for not replying to this sooner. I didn't have this problem last semester, and only just ran into it tonight. So I tried an alternative web browser called omniweb. Sure enough, I can activate the link to create a thread just fine with that. I'll email apple accessibility about this, as I didn't have this issue before upgrading safari. re: Strange and serious occurance with my 13 inch MBP
Hello Johnny, That is bad! Have you tried pressing command option escape to force Saphari to quit? Try it and restart your computer again. Hope this fixes the ussue. Ezzie - Original Message - From: Johnny Angel! I simply turned on my MBP and went to safari and it was acting really weird in that it wasn't stay on the doc for me. But then: 1. It was changing pages in Safari without my doing anything. 2. It seemed that there was something like a Flash player update that kept popping up in front of the current page blocking my ability to do anything. I say seemed to be the Flash player software because the popup wasn't labeled, but I couldn't get rid of it. 3. Then Safari was no longer responding and I was no longer able to bring up the apple menu to force quit the program. 4. Vo + M would only bring up the universal access. 5. My 13 inch MBP never ran so hot ever before. It was blowing out very hot air out of the back of the unit like it was going out of style. That was scary indeed! 6. I tried using force quit from the desktop but that didn't work. 7. Neither could I invoke the computer to shut down because Safari was still not responding. If anyone has any ideas why my computer acted this way, please let me know what you think. Thank you! Selecting Text Online
Helly list, I am trying to select an entire document posted online. This website is broken up into three different frames--the first being the main frame with the main links to connect with classmates, check grades, log out, etc., the second one being a frame with links to the course assignments, and the third being the one in which the text of the document is posted. When I interract with the last frame and try selecting the text with command A, I come up with the links main frame selected. That's not what I want. How can I have the document itself selected? I hope I'm making sense.
