Re: issue navigating a document in Word on Mac
I wish I could be more helpful in this matter, but when I first installed the Microsoft Office Suite on my Mac Mini I was experiencing the issue as described in this thread. Several months ago I was trying to work with a document I had copied from my old Windows PC and tapped some sort of control that I simply don’t remember. The issue completely vanished. As I say, I wish I could recall that control. But I post this message to the thread to encourage others that there is a solution. * * * * * * * * * * * * - Bill from Ino, Wisconsin - "He who asks is a fool for five minutes," - "but he who does not ask remains a fool forever." - Chinese Proverb -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list. OT: Paying Accessibly for Taxi Rides in New York
Hi, All: Please pardon what's probably the OT, but I am going to be in Manhattan starting Thursday, and I expect to use taxis quite a bit, along with perhaps an Uber or Lift or two. No concerns about Uber, but several about how to use the accessible payment kiosk mounted in front of the right side passenger seat in the back of New York cabs. I haven't been able to find a good howto to read in advance, and being in the moment is often fraught with distractions. So, if anyone can give me a quick pointer or two about how to use a credit card, or even my phone (perhaps over NFC?), I'd be grateful. For instance, where and how does one insert one's credit card? Is it a swipe kind of thing? Or an insert and wait for the beep beep? Any pointers greatly appreciated! Hi, Donna: Yes, I have three pairs of the old Google Max speakers throughout my apartment. I love casting to them because I can then wander around my apartment and not miss anything. BTW: I understand the new Book Share app will have the ability to cast, and I can't wait. That will be so cool! Best, Janina 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries writes: > Wow, Janina, that’s very cool! Re: Does anyone use Chromecast?
Hi everyone. I hope this is the right place to ask this question since this is not an Apple issue. I have a question about Chromecasting to smart speakers. We have a number of Google Homes in our apartment and TuneIn stations drop at different times during the day. Just wondering if this happens using Apple HomePods as well. Brand new modem and router and we still experience this the most in the afternoons. Just trying to isolate if this may be a problem with ChromeCast and TuneIn rather than with the Google speakers specifically. If anyone has any ideas you can write to me privately at rbende...@gmail.com. Thanks. Hi Donna. Thanks for your prompt reply. We are in a high rise apartment in a big city so I hope it isn’t a problem with our Internet. The technician who installed the new equipment last week said that he adjusted the signal from the cable for best performance so I don’t know what else our provider would do. I think I may have run out of things to try and any ideas are welcome even if they may not seem to be related to my problem. A Question for Those Experiencing Siri Not Dialing Phone Numbers Beginning with Symbols
Hello Everyone, I am just going to put this out there and if anyone knows of a solution, please pass it on. I have researched this bug, on the web, and a great deal of people are reporting the problem. I, as yet, have not discovered a solution. If the following makes no sense to you, then just ignore it. In iOS15.4.1, Siri will not Dial Telephone Numbers that Begin with a Symbol On some Wireless networks, one can selectively display one's CallerID by inserting a prefix symbol sequence in front of a telephone number. Please note that the prefix symbol sequence continues to function as expected when one manually selects the phone number from the Contacts list or from the Favorites page in the Phone app. The bug does not appear until one attempts to use Siri to dial a contact, hands-free. Steps to Reproduce the Bug: 1. Create a Contact with a local telephone number that includes the prefix symbol sequence of *31#. For example "*31#2125551212" (without the quotation symbols.) This will allow the contact (John Doe) to see your telephone number even when the show caller ID setting is disabled, in the Phone app. 2. >From the Settings area, select the Phone app. 3. Set [SHOW MY CALLER ID] to OFF. 4. Say to Siri, "Call John Doe." Siri will respond with "Calling John Doe" and the phone app will appear. After a few seconds, however, the phone app disappears and no call is placed. Mark -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list. A question about showind audio description in a group setting?
making that subject clear is a challenge. Here is the situation, one of my co-workers is going to be showing films as apart of a series where only a few members need audio description. Think of well like going to the movies, without the special equipment provided by the company. How would you manage the process? Is there software that helps filter, say if rented on YouTube, and you desire spoken subtitles? If my question is confusing let me know, Karen

It cannot be done as the audio description is part of the same track as the movie. Re: A question about showind audio description in a group setting?
hmm could a single device running share play work if one was channeling the film audio through a control surface of some kind or a sound mixer? say one channel for the track of the film with audio description, and one track with the main track? Slightly different question, if there is no audio description, but subtitles is there a way for the subtitles to be spoken, again through a headset paired in, instead of the main sound for the rest of the room? Thanks for helping me answer their questions. Karen On Wed, 13 Apr 2022, Herbie Allen wrote: It cannot be done as the audio description is part of the same track as the movie.
