Re: Plain Text Sports

I looked at this with Android and chose NBA I was able to see scores but
had a lot of random text like you said. Honestly with the m1 macs I use
sports alerts just like my iPhone and it works awesome.

Moving through headings on web pages?

2022-03-31 Thread 'Catherine Turner' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

All of a sudden I am unable to move through headings on webpages by
pressing H. This is also applying to other elements like I can't move
through check boxes by pressing see. I am imagining that somehow I
have altered a setting in VoiceOver perhaps accidentally by pressing a
certain keystroke. Years ago when I got my first Mac I seem to
remember having to change the setting somewhere so that I could just
press H to move through headings instead of having to press VO plus
command plus H. But I can't find information about this, Apple's
documentation that I have read so far tells me that to move through
headings I need to press VO plus command plus H. But until today,
when I had quick NAV on, I could just press H.

Please can anyone help? How can I set it up again so that I only have
to press H?

Thanks,
Catherine

Re: Moving through headings on web pages?

2022-03-31 Thread Brett Lewis
Good morning.
When I have experienced this it is usually because I have inadvertently
turned off "single letter quick nav" which is VO+Q.
I haven't really figured out the difference between the two quick nav
related options: with the left and right arrows and the VO+Q but I would
check VO+Q and hopefully that will help.

Re: Moving through headings on web pages?

2022-03-31 Thread Chanelle Allen
Make sure that single key navigation is enabled. Press VO-Q to toggle it on.
Otherwise, with QuickNav off, use VO-Command-H to move to the next heading and
add shift to go to the previous heading.

2022-03-31 Thread 'Catherine Turner' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

Marvellous – thank you so much – this fix the problem. I can only use
one hand so needing to press modifier keys makes a big difference to
the time it takes to move around quickly. I must've accidentally
switched it off.

Thanks,
Catherine

Can not open or view attachment in a mail on Mac.

2022-03-31 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hello!
I have requested the Orbit writer and they’ve sent me a pdf in a mail.
But VOiceOver doesn’t seem to recognize it.
Or lets say it recognize it but it just says picture and nothing can me done
with that picture.
Pressing command y to preview the attachment does not help either.
I only get no objects are selected from VOiceOver.
I have tried to manipulating the mouse with the vo commands that I know of but
no go.
Its very very frustrating.
I will check to see if it works on my Iphone.

Mac or iPhone accessible measuring tools

2022-03-31 Thread Sarah Massengale
Hello all,

As part of my job, I will now be conducting on-site assessments for physical
accessibility. I’m currently looking for some Mac or iPhone accessible
measuring tools: a level, a tape measure, a measuring wheel/walking measurement
tool, and a hanging/fishing scale to measure the weight needed to open doors.
Does anyone know if devices like this with apps that work with voiceover exist
or where I might start to research them. Thanks so much for any help you can
provide.

Best,
Sarah

Re: Mac or iPhone accessible measuring tools

2022-03-31 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

The iPhone has a stock Measure app as well as a built-in level. They are both
accessible, although I don’t remember how to use the Measure app. The Level is
part of the Compass app. Just do a three-finger swipe from right to left to
land on page 2 and the level should be there for you. I’m not familiar with a
scale like that, although just because I’m not familiar, doesn’t mean that
there’s not something out there. If you could find a talking luggage scale,
that might do the trick.

HTH.

Re: Mac or iPhone accessible measuring tools

2022-03-31 Thread Sarah Massengale
Thanks so much, Tim. I’d forgotten about the measuring app, and I don’t think
I knew the level was even there. I’ll have to do some experimenting with
those. I had a feeling the measuring wheel and hanging scale would be a little
more tricky, but maybe somebody will have an idea. Thanks again for your help,
and have a great day.

Re: Moving through headings on web pages?

2022-03-31 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Hello,
Single letter quickNav is an additional option to QuickNav. The original
QuickNav has the arrow keys behave much like the single finger swipes do on the
iPhone. Single letter quickNav will only work when QuickNav is on and single
letter QuickNav Also note that one can assign any VoiceOver action to any of
the QuickNav single letter keys in the commanders area of VoiceOver utility.
VoiceOver also has VO Lock function (VO-semicolon) that will act as though the
VO key is held down. This changes the nearly impossible
control-option-command-shift space to a more pleasant command-shift-space.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn
