Thank you all for your replies. I’m sorry for my late message, but I got very
busy at a sudden.

Thank you so much again,

I’ll check the guidelines in the link of using Google Docs/Sheets/Slides from

Re: XXXXX Is Not Responding

2021-12-15 Thread Bill Gallik
I want to thank all those responding to my e-mail initiating this thread. My
school boy chum came over and helped me work this issue out and although the
Mac Mini is now functioning reasonably well, the root problem is as of yet not
resolved.

Let me say though, this has been a noticably more common issue lately. But
yesterday’s incarnation was ridiculous; all apps were manifesting this problem
for significantly extended periods. We’re talking 15 minutes to a half hour.
And even then, there was no guarantee the issue would not crop up again.

This is why I turned to the Macvisionaries community for any suggestions. I’m
still not confident this will not rear it’s quite ugly head again.

One item I do notice that might explain this issue is that I installed a thumb
drive and, although I did execute the eject procedure, it appears to continue
to show up in the “Locations” list. It seems to not be completely erased from
that list.

Messages suddenly disappearing in mail app.

2021-12-15 Thread Jessica Moss
I just opened the mail app this morning only to find it suddenly completely
wiped. I have no idea how this could’ve happened, sense I haven’t deleted
anything, and have no idea if they can be recovered or not.
I’ve even checked the recovered folder, that I didn’t know even existed, only
to have them not be there. Has this ever happened on anyone else’s end?

Hi Jessica, I don’t know if I have an answer for you but yes this has been
happening to me lately period I have hundreds and hundreds of emails in my
inbox not to mention I also have folders with hundreds of emails in them
sometimes I open up the Mail app and I can only see five emails and even if I
use the scroll bar the vertical scroll scroll bar or anything I can’t see other
emails woul what has worked for me but it’s not consistent is using the app
switcher on my iPhone to close the mail app and then restarting it restarting
the mail app sometimes gives me all the mail sometimes it only gives me a few
the truth is that it has been a pain and I can’t figure out what’s going on
period try my suggestion and see if this helps I don’t believe everything is
lost but this is definitely a bug for me

Re: Messages suddenly disappearing in mail app.

2021-12-15 Thread Jessica Moss
This unfortunately isn’t on my IPHone. The weird thing is, When it happened,
and one may not have anything to do with the other, I was using my fire tablet,
attempting to locate a strange prime video purchase that I found on my bank
statement that I knew I didn’t make, and kept getting e-mail notifications on
that, which I didn’t check. Then when I turned my tablet off and went back
into my inbox on my Mac, it was completely empty, and I’d had hundreds of
messages stored on there.
I had this happen years ago on a windows machine in outlook express as well,
and never could recover them then either, and I didn’t touch any of my settings
then either; I just opened outlook express one morning, and all of a sudden my
whole inbox was completely empty with no rhyme or reason. I think I did,
however, figure out who did make the Prime Video purchases though, so it looks
like on the flip side, my Amazon account wasn’t hacked.

Jessica,

On your Mac, it’s system preferences and then either iCloud or your name,
depending on what OS you’re using. On your iPhone it’s settings, then your name.
In both cases, make sure that your email account is connected to iCloud.

Ok, so I’ve clicked my name at the top, and I’m just presented with a window
that Voiceover won’t read. Interacting with it unfortunately does nothing
either.
  Am I missing something?

Re: Messages suddenly disappearing in mail app.

2021-12-15 Thread Brad Snyder
Just a random thought on this….
perhaps the mail client on your fire tablet Is is set up to use a POP mail
server. Since a POP mail server will download the contents of your inbox when
it checks for mail, this would explain what happened to all the messages that
were in your inbox.
I'd go into the mail client on your fire tablet, and see what kind of server
settings you have set up on that device.
