A question about Gmail, again

2021-11-04 Thread 'Kristeen Hughes' via MacVisionaries
Because someone highjacked my subject the last time I asked this, I will try
again. After adding a gmail account to a new Mac, not all of the folders are
showing. They are all checked to show if you go to the Gmail site, but only a
few of them are there in the mail app on the Mac. Is there something I should,
or can do short of deleting the account and trying again?

Just Updated to Latest Apple TV OS on my 4K device and Mute and Volume Control No Longer Works

2021-11-04 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

So I just updated my Apple TV 4K to the latest OS and now the Siri remote
mute and volume buttons do not work.

When I press the Mute button, VoiceOver says, "Mute," but nothing happens.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I am thinking that I am not going to update my Apple TV HD until I find a
solution as I do not want to lose Siri remote volume control on my primary
television down in the living room.

By the way, I can continue to turn my television on and off with the Siri
remote.

I have checked every setting I can think of and I have rebooted both the
Apple TV and the television.

All replies greatly appreciated.

Mark

Amazon Music on Apple TV, Excellent !!

2021-11-04 Thread M. Taylor
Hello All,

Well, after deciding to use Amazon Music as my music streaming service, I
decided I would purchase a few more echo devices in order to spread the
sound.

However, just before ordering, I thought I would check to see if there was
some kind of way I could send Amazon Music playback to my Apple TV devices.

As it turns out, there is an Amazon Music app for Apple TV and it is
completely VoiceOver accessible. Marvelous.

So, I can now play all of my Amazon Music content from my echo devices,
hand-held devices, computers and Apple TV devices.

I am liking my Amazon Prime membership more and more (smile).

Mark

Just tried the number...it does work.
Honestly, please call, ask for a supervisor, and demonstrate the problem

Otherwise amazon has no reason to fix things.

iOS 15

2021-11-04 Thread Phil Halton
Is anyone using iOS 15, and is there any reason to be cautious about updating?
I’m a little leery about so many changes especially to Safari. How is it going
for you if you’re using it and is it drastically different from iOS 14.

It's working well for me. However (as you specifically asked about

Re: iOS 15

2021-11-04 Thread Brad Snyder
Go ahead and do the update. I think you'll be fine.
There were a few accessibility issues with the initial release, but they have
been resolved in iOS 15.1.
Change it to Safari aren't that big a deal. If you don't like it, you could go
into Safari preferences and select one tab, which will restore safari to the
way it was before iOS 15.

Re: Apple Silicon vs Intel x86 for Voiceover users on Mac

2021-11-04 Thread 'ja...@jasonjgw.net' via MacVisionaries
With new MacBook Pro hardware in hand, as of yesterday, I can now comment
briefly on the VoiceOver performance.

So far, it has been excellent. As a test, I visited
https://html.spec.whatwg.org/ and followed the link to the single-page version.
This is a large and complex document. VoiceOver gave a “Safari is not
responding” message – hardly surprising – but it wasn’t long before Safari
finished loading the document, and I was able to read it.

I’ve had other screen readers (on Windows, especially) become completely
unresponsive for minutes while loading that page, even on my high-performance
“mobile workstation” laptop.

I hardly need to point out the significant performance improvements compared
with my late 2013-model MacBook Pro.

Although I’ve encountered some issues with the new machine (none of them major
so far), performance hasn’t yet become one of them.

OK, I misunderstood you that you needed Windows. I mostly agree in that case; I
also use Terminal and Linux VMs a lot and rarely need Windows. Even so, I think
not having it at all would be a problem; there are just some things you need
Windows for, including, yes, Office apps, but also running software only on
Windows, like said firmware updater utility. Your situation may differ.

Cheers,
Sabahattin

Re: A question about Gmail, again

2021-11-04 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

You may also wish to confirm that the Gmail mailbox is expanded so that the
other mailboxes within are visible. First, make sure that the Mailbox list is
visible. If it is, then interact with it, find the Gmail mailbox and make sure
that the disclosure triangle is announced as expanded. Then take a look at the
list of items to see if the mailboxes show up.
