Re: Download Complete Sound on MacBook Pro?

2021-03-11 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Hello,
I enabled the folder action which will put up a dialog for 30 seconds when a
new file comes into downloads. The stock one is pretty good, though it
sometimes alerts me of the temporary file before the item is fully downloaded.

1. Open up finder to your home directory.
2. Use the contextual menu"Folder Actions Setup …" it should be near the bottom.
3. You will get a security warning that you need to approve.
4. There wil then be a dialog with two tables. The first table should have your
downloads folder listed.
5. Select "add - new item alert.scpt" for your downloads folder.

I just modified the script behind this to ignore downloads folders and also to
move .exe files to my PC work folder.

I expect some of the file management utilities you can buy can also do this,
but this is build into the OS.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Re: voice over not on at start up

2021-03-11 Thread Jeff Berwick
Go to system preferences and choose users and groups.

Then, select the login options group and accessibility options. You will
probably need to unlock this screen.

There is a checkbox to have Voiceover on at start up.

If the box is checked, then you will need to uncheck and recheck it again.
Hopefully me saying this will get the issue fixed but you will have to repeat
this process with every update.

On my mac book air 2020 with big sur, I do find the users groups, but nothing

Re: voice over not on at start up

2021-03-11 Thread Herbie Allen
File Valt is what keeps your data encrypted so it can’t be easily stolen.
What you need to do is the following:
First, once in Users and Groups, click the button that allow’s changes. If you
don’t do this then nothing will work.
Next, interact with the Users, Groups and Login Options. It should say Current
user. Now VO right to Login Options and VO space. Uninteract and VO right to
Accessibility Options.
Click that button and VO left to the table. VO down to VoiceOver.
If the box is unchecked, then check it and VO right to apply. If checked, then
uncheck it, then VO right to apply. You can then VO left back to the table and
recheck the box.
Once you do all that click the button to prevent changes and you should be good
to go.
BTW, this is a Big Sur issue and not related to your specific Mac.
