Hello, I enabled the folder action which will put up a dialog for 30 seconds when a new file comes into downloads. The stock one is pretty good, though it sometimes alerts me of the temporary file before the item is fully downloaded.
1. Open up finder to your home directory. 2. Use the contextual menu"Folder Actions Setup …" it should be near the bottom. 3. You will get a security warning that you need to approve. 4. There wil then be a dialog with two tables. The first table should have your downloads folder listed. 5. Select "add - new item alert.scpt" for your downloads folder. I just modified the script behind this to ignore downloads folders and also to move .exe files to my PC work folder. I expect some of the file management utilities you can buy can also do this, but this is build into the OS.
