Hi Donna and all thank you very much for your help and suggestions. What seems
to work for me is iCloud and text edit is good enough for what I need to do. I
actually don’t need these notes in the notes app since with iCloud and text
edit I can actually view them on my iPhone in the files app which is wonderful
because all I had to do was copy my whole entire folder on my Mac and put it in
iCloud and so I pasted it and boom there it was on my iPhone which is great. I
realize this is a Mac users list but just to mention if anybody knows and can
email me privately I do also need these files on my windows laptop as I update
them every so often I did try finding iCloud for windows but it it tells me to
download from the Microsoft store and the store tells me I already on the app
but I can’t find it anywhere on my PC I spent the whole day looking so I may
have to update these manually on my windows unless somebody can privately help
me find iCloud on my Windows laptop

I have a suggestion for doing google searches. As you no doubt discovered
using voiceover as a single search term also brings up the practice
of adding voice commentary.

Use as the first search term os10, that is the generic term for the mac
operating system. Then add voiceover and the paticular info desired
about it. You should not get the voice added meaning of voiceover in the
results.

Google uses search term order as one rule for searching and adding or excluding
results..

Zoe,

It sounds like your PC may not be signed in to iCloud. Go to icloud.com and try
signing in. Once you’re signed in, make sure files is enabled. Sorry not to be
more specific, but it’s been a while since I set that up, and I don’t remember
exactly how it worked.

pressing the notification chevron button or whatever that’s called, I’m sorry

Welcome back! So glad to hear that you are doing better!

I certainly don't have Tim's expertise, but I'll try and answer your
 question.

First, is there some reason that you need them in the notes app? If not,
you could simply store the folder in iCloud. From there, you could access
it from your mac, your phone, and your Windows laptop. If you Google
iCloud for PC, you'll be able to download a version of iCloud for windows.
Once that's installed, the only thing you would need to do is install an
app that supports plain text on your phone. There is one called Text
Editor that is easy to use and should do the trick. Alternatively, if you
happen to have a subscription to Office 365, you could install that on
your Mac and your phone and use Word.

If you do want to have them in Notes for some reason, then yes, I believe
the only way to accomplish that would be to open a new note for each file,
and then cut and paste the text.

 I hope this helps.
 Cheers,
 Donna

Hi Zoe,

We’re talking about iCloud, so at least to my thinking we’re still on topic.

ICloud on my PC shows up on my desktop, and behaves just like an additional
folder. It sometimes takes my PC a little longer to sync than it does my Mac,
but I am able to view and work with my files from Mac, IOS, and Pc.

Since you’ve gotten a message that you have already downloaded iCloud, I’m
wondering if you don’t have it set up to appear on your desktop. Try pressing
the Search key, and typing iCloud. If that brings up your iCloud drive, try
using the applications key to have it show on your desktop.
Cheers,
Donna

Hi Donna, yes I already tried all of that. It doesn’t show up on my desktop,
taskbar, or anywhere for that matter. I did type a search in the start menu and
the only thing that comes up is iCloud sync and nothing else do you think
that’s what I am looking for?

2020-07-22 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi Zoe,

So it looks like there are some differences, depending on the version of
windows that you are running. If you are running Windows 10, you need to
download iCloud from the Microsoft store. If you are running Windows 7 or 8,
you can download it from the Apple store. Here is a link to Apple's page on
setting up iCloud for Windows.
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204283

Hope this helps.
Best,
Donna

Hi again Donna thank you so much for trying to help. This is the strange issue
I am running windows 10 not an earlier version. None of this makes any sense I
already tried downloading iCloud for windows and Microsoft store tells me I own
the app but as I said before I can’t find it anywhere.

That sounds like something for Microsoft support, unfortunately. Even if you
own it, you should be able to re-download it. You might try googling, Microsoft
store gives message that app is already owned" or something like that, and see
what you can find.

About the only other thing I can think of to suggest is that you use the
Windows key to search for iCloud setup.exe.
Good luck!
Best,
Donna

Hi Zoe,
I am sorry this is so frustrating.
You mentioned finding an icloud sync option on your Windows laptop.
What happens when this is explored?
I have never been a windows user, but wonder if there is a way to get
details on an app before running?

Re: Default payment/credit card doesn't show as first in Wallet App on iPhone

2020-07-22 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I cant check this now, since I only have one card in my Apple wallet, but my
memory is that if you open the wallet app and thn open the card you want to
make default that there will be a button to do this.
If you can’t find it in the wallet app there is also a wallet section of the
settings app.

Triode App for radio

2020-07-22 Thread Traci Duncan
Hi all, I’ve just downloaded the Triode App for listening to radio on the Mac.
(Note the spelling of the app.) It’s made by the same folks that do
Twitterrific.

So far so good. Of course I have a few wishlist things. I wish there is more
keyboard navigation. Play/pause, volume, mute, etc. Possibly even a hotkey to
read the current song playing. I’m running into some streams that for some
reason or another do not work.

Positives: it is pretty easy to navigate and VO friendly. If song title and
artist are available, they are easy to read and there is a setting to notify me
when song changes. As I’m writing this message, the song changed and VO readout
the new information. I like that.

So, you guys may want to give Triode a try. Maybe give the developer your own
feedback. It is a free app, but if you want to save favorites, of course it is
a subscription. ;)

If not this app for listening to radio on the Mac, do you have suggestions?
I’ve tried a couple and haven’t found one I really like.

Thanks,
Traci

Four finger flick right & left switches between running apps on iOs. Is there
an equivalent on Mac?

Thank you,

Hi Karen, not exactly, what do I mean, well I type in iCloud and the thing that
pops up is cloud sync something. It doesn’t say iCloud it says just cloud I did
click on it and it looks like it’s for one drive so obviously that’s not what
I’m looking for thank you anyway.

Re: Four finger flick right & left

2020-07-22 Thread Jonathan Cohn
The standard way to do this is with command-tab. This is similar to alt-tab on
windows, but only switches between apps, not windows.
There is also the voiceover command Application chooser vo-F2 (twice) this
brings up a VoiceOver item list of applications. WHen youwhen you click on an
application it then brings up a window chooser for the application. THe
trackpad commander equivalent for this command is to tap twice with two fingers
on the left side of the trackpad.
Best Wishes,
Jonathan Cohn
