Nisus Writer

2020-07-07 Thread 'Sabahattin Gucukoglu' via MacVisionaries
Hi guys,

What's the consensus on Nisus Writer? If I needed a step up from TextEdit—and I
admit that I'm not really clear on why I would—then would Nisus Writer Pro be a
worthwhile investment?

Cheers,
Sabahattin

Re: Firefox on the Mac somewhat works now.

2020-07-07 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I just downloaded Firefox 78 which will become the next ESR version of Firefox
and hopefully I can see these rotors in action there. It would be disappointing
if the ESR version gets stuck with only partial VoiceOver support as
enterprises will be using it for at least a year forward.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Messages app on iPhone cluttered again

2020-07-07 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

Shortly after the release of IOS 13, I posted to the list about the Messages
app being cluttered, i.e. that when I have one message thread open, all the
other threads still show up on the screen. Someone on this list knew of a
setting that got rid of that problem, but I don't remember what it was. Somehow
that issue has reappeared for me recently. Does anyone happen to remember which
setting it is that fixes that issue?
TIA,
Donna

Downloading youtube videos to Mac

2020-07-07 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
Can anyone recommend a VO friendly way to download youtube videos on Mac/OS
Catalina for showing offline? I have searched the web for “How to download
youtube videos” and found the replies complicated and confusing. I tried a
couple of the recommended methods without reliable joy. I don’t mind a modest
one off payment if that helps..
Many thanks for any tips … Paul Hopewell

Re: Downloading youtube videos to Mac

2020-07-07 Thread Barry Hadder

VLC is very helpful with this.

Copy the URL from the Safari address field. Then in VLC, open the URL from
the open network stream dialog.

Find the item in the play list table, go into media information and find
the location address and copy it.

Open the link in Safari, vo-shift-m on the html area and choose download
video or download video as.

Re: Firefox on the Mac somewhat works now.

2020-07-07 Thread Jonathan Cohn
OK, some step forward and some back.
1. Firefox 78 current version does not seem to support
• Read Current character, word, sesentence, or line.
• The rotar still does not work.
• item list might work, NY TImes home page brought up about 90 items.
• Navigation commands to specific heading levels, font change, underlined text,
bold text did not work.

Even more discouraging, Firefox nightly 80 currently is back to only reading
where focus is, the rest of the web page is completely invisible to VoiceOVer.
Jonathan
