2020-05-23 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Yes, if you have any 32 bit apps that you don’t want to lose then your best not
upgrading. Unless there are 64 bit versions available.

Yes, if that is the format that the books App uses then I’m looking to convert

surprised about it. I always use my headphones that come in the box.
One less thing I have to buy and they last a while. I tend to use them

New SE slight concern

2020-05-23 Thread Ian Harrison
Hi all,

Very happy with my new SE, but have one slight concern. I use the two finger
double tap to pause and resume audio in various apps and it is much slower to
respond than with my 6S. So much so that I sometimes do it again thinking I did
the tap badly. It then catches up and reverses the original action.

Anyone else having this slow response?

Thanks in advance
Ian

Re: install catalina or not?

2020-05-23 Thread Brad Snyder
I’ve been using Catalina for quite a while and have had no issues with
accessibility of any kind.
There is of course the matter of 32-bit apps no longer being supported in
Catalina, but that is not an accessibility issue.
Unless you have an application that is 32-bit that you really need and can’t
get a 64-bit version, I’d go ahead and do the upgrade.

Accessibility is no worse in Catalina. But 32bit apps are no longer
supported. If tou use Clean y Mac you can easily check to see which apps
are 32bit. Or go to About My Mac and browse the software list to see if
you have any 32bit apps.

My watch has now gone back to normal after I put it on this morning. So all is
fine. Simon has it right. Voice-over is not picking up the heart and breathe

Hi,

As Brad mentioned, Internet Accounts does not have a repository for passwords.
Your Keychain is where these are stored, and I really don’t suggest that you
attempt messing around with the keychain.

Logictech K780 battery level

2020-05-23 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
Many thanks for the tip of pairing the keyboard with my iPhone and then using
the Today screen to find the battery level. That worked fine!
Using the bluetooth part of the menu bar on the iMac did not display the
battery level to VoiceOver. It might have been visible to a sighted user. The
only VoiceOver visible option for the K780 was a disconnect button.
Best regards … Paul Hopewell

Re: Pages and custom template

2020-05-23 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Leo,
In Pages Preferences, I think you have to click on Change template and reselect
your preferred one then press Choose. Close Preferences and your chosen
template should be shown. Close the window and quit Pages, then reopen Pages
and all should be well.
This works for me under Mojave, and for my husband under Catalina.
Cheers,

Anne

Repair permissions in Terminal

2020-05-23 Thread Traci Duncan
Ok all, I’ve read the article I’ll paste below and I’ve Googled a few of the
steps, but I can’t get beyond the terminal point.

I successfully type resetpassword and the reset password screen pops up in the
background. I focus VoiceOver on it, but I don’t know how to get to the icon to
select my hard drive, then cary on with the steps.

Maybe this tip isn’t available in High Sierra…

https://blog.chron.com/techblog/2011/09/want-to-really-repair-permissions-on-your-mac-try-this/

Curious,

Re: Joining Zoom meetings more efficiently from Mac using Chrome

2020-05-23 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Well, if you are often going to the same meeting then you can just open the
Zoom Application. In terms of going to the dialog, you can try vo-J or
vo-shift-J and see if either of these go to the dialog.
.
Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Re: Five tips to speed up your Mac - CNET

2020-05-23 Thread Brad Snyder
The article makes good points.
I have never heard of App Zapper, but I have heard of other apps like Clean My
Mac that do a lot of the same things.
Adding RAM and a new SSD is not as easy as the article makes it sound,
especially for someone who is blind or vision impaired.
Adding more RAM will not affect your Mac’s ability to upgrade its version of
macOS beyond a certain version. This is dependent on other hardware
considerations.

My watch has now gone back to normal after I put it on this morning. So all is
fine. Simon has it right. Voice-over is not picking up the heart and breathe
functions on the watch be it complications or not.

I have just updated my watch and I have probably started it 10 times as the
breathing and heart rate are not showing on my watch as complications although
they are there but they are invisible. Has anyone else had this problem and if
so how did they fix it. This problem occurs quite regularly but once you reboot
the watch, they come back but this time it’s not happening. Thank you for your
help.

RE: Apple Glass and iPhone 12 Rumors, iOS 13.5 Update, and More!

2020-05-23 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Yeah but I think this is the push to Bluetooth headphones rather than the wired
ones most people love.

I have them with each of my phone but I don't use them now as I'm using my
airpods constantly.

I am looking forward to hearing what the headphone announcement will be later
in the year,

I'm not a fan of the pro pods but a lesser version might be a better option.

Hmm don't like the bit about them not including headphones but not surprised
about it. I always use my headphones that come in the box.
One less thing I have to buy and they last a while. I tend to use them more
than my Airpods.

RE: New update for Apple Watch. A problem?

2020-05-23 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Tim,

Interesting thought.

Apple couldn’t figure it out as the complication is there it’s just voiceover
doesn’t speak the complication.

But it’s also not all of them, just ones I add to the watch face,

The face / screen I use is the modula with things I find useful during the day.
