Where can I find the Astreos app?

2018-12-31 Thread Michael Busboom
Hello everyone,

I have heard about the Astreos app, but I have not been able to find it in the
App store. Is it available, or is it still in beta?
Perhaps I am using the wrong search keywords. What is the name of the app,
if not Astreos?
If I understand the app description correctly, among other things, it enables
blind people to gain an audio understanding of the lay-out of the solar system
and other objects in space.

My thanks to all, along with best wishes for a great 2019!

Mike

ipad to tv?

2018-12-31 Thread Billy Inglis
hi guys, just gotten an appleipad and was wondering if its possible to
send recordings from the ipad to my smart television?.
I like to follow my favourite soccer team on the ipad, but would love to
watch on the larger tv screen.

Is it possible to do such a thing please?.
Any help or advice would be so helpful.

Re: Where can I find the Astreos app?

2018-12-31 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Mike,

We just passed the fence into 2019, but hey I'm never out of saying "happy new
year" :)

here is the page to submit a request for the beta. We are working very hard to
push the new version which gives pretty much access to everything in the
universe. And I mean everything. I spent the past 2 months doing data science
to gather absolutely all the objecst out there, cross reference them, and apply
tactile feedback and other features to get as close as possible to actually
seeing it.

Anyway, here's the link to request the beta:

https://astreos.oseyeris.com

Again, I have to mention it as some will forget, it is still a beta, so you
will inevitably encounter some bugs along the way, and even some crashes, as
this is a very complex app which takes many different features such as
accelerometer, 3D audio, networking, GPS, and the data behind it with dynamic
audio and tactile 3D.
I fully appreciate any comment or feature request you may have and I
have been listing all of them, and ticking them off one by one to make sure the
experience is the best possible, both for sighted and VI.

A++

Oh btw, this app has won the Brisbane NASA challenge too.

We're going to also introduce a new feature in the next leg of the hackathon

Re: Logitech K375S Keyboard

2018-12-31 Thread Matt Turner
Hi, I have the bluetooth k480 model.
When I hit the FN+ up or down airo keys for home and end, I get f14, and f15.
The keyboard is set to use the mac layout, and I’ve never been able to get the
home/ end/ page up/ page down to work.
This is driving me nuts.

Re: cycling through windows in finder

2018-12-31 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Hello,

the standard behavior for Macintosh since before MacOS * was created has been
to open a new folder in the same window as the current window. I tried
1. using command-o
2. using command-down
3. command-option-O

The first two of these in column, list and icon modes seemed to just replace
the new folder with in the same window with the same configuration.
The second option VoiceOver speaks as Open and close old window or something
like that.

My memory is poking at me and saying that Tinkertool had an option to make the
finder open folders in a new window, but I don’t have that tool to play with on
my current system.

So, before using command-down to open your folders what keystroke / mouse
action were you using to open windows? Also, what is your default viewing
style. I still prefer “column” mode except when I need to get more information
about a item without getting all the details in command-i. Column mode will
navigate into and out of folders with left and right keys and will navigate
within a folder with the arrow keys. I believe that column mode is always
sorted by name, but could be mistaken.

Best Wishes,

Re: cycling through windows in finder

2018-12-31 Thread Lorie McCloud
I use list mode. I get confused if I try to use collumn mode. I guess I could
use some practice with that.

I've never tried command-o to open a folder. I use that for programs or apps. I
assume that when I open a folder it opens in the same window I'm in. that may
not be what's happening because if I had 2 windows open so I could easily copy
files, every folder I had passed through in order to reach my destination would
be open. I would hit them all when I was cycling. I was trying to find a way to
avoid that and I think I have.

Curious. I'm wondering if you made the alias on the Dropbox folder
itself in your Home directory? Open the alias you have now and explore

Sorry, that should be control-tab for Finder. In Finder preferences
set it to open in new tabs. Press command-t to open a new tab. Vy
default it will open to the desktop folder. Navigate to any folder. You
can do this any number of times and simply cycle them with control-tab
and close any with command-w.

finder open folders in a new window, but I don’t have that tool to play with on
my current system.

If you go to Network Preferences, and select Wi-Fi from the Services table.
From there, your Mac should discover your network and you can enter whatever

Subject: cycling through windows in finder

I figured out something I want to tell you all about in case anybody's
interested. I had been asking about how to have most or all of the windows
closed except for the 2 that I wanted to copy and paste between. I used to
be able to do this but now all the windows I was navigating through to get
to my destination had become part of the cycle. somebody here mentioned
opening and closing windows using command-down and up arrows. I had been
doing this without the option and including it in the command has cleared
up the problem for me. it kind of closes the door or window behind me.

Re: cycling through windows in finder

2018-12-31 Thread John Panarese
There is a difference between opening folders in column and list view.
However, command-accent should work to cycle in either case. If you are closing
windows, command-up arrow should close in list mode and command-down arrow
should open to expand folders. This is why I prefer column mode. It's easier to
keep track of where you are in the hierarchy.

Bootcamp

2018-12-31 Thread Faith Girvan
Hello everyone.
Another question to add to the questions, how easy is it to set up bootcamp on
the Mac? I only ask because I’m hoping it’s a rather simple process.
Thanks.
