The sound quality I heard for the 5 minutes I was playing with one was ok, but
it wasn't in my hands long enough to really judge, but it was a great phone

I've used end note with windows / jaws, and have to get my hands dirty with it

From memory I'm pretty sure voiceover worked ok with it but it's the office

But if I remember I'll check endnote x7 accessibility with vo tomorrow when I'm

Hello everyone,

I am using voiceover on a iMac 2010 27-inch model.
I am curious to know what others in the academic realm are using to create
reference lists for research papers?
Currently, I create my bibliographies manually, which is tedious and quite
arduous.
I use APA 6th (ed) as my citation guide of choice.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

RE: can't get mac to work with micro Sd card

2016-04-19 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Christina,

Any idea what format the card is in?

Are you able to see it in disk utilities?

If you can see it in disk utils then you should be able to format it or
partition it and then format it.

Subject: can't get mac to work with micro Sd card

Hi all,

I have a Mac and it has an SD card slot. I put the micro SD card inside the
adapter that came with it to make the micro card standard size. I put the
memory card in the slot and I get a message that says something like the card
you inserted cannot be read by this computer. I am then given a choice to
ignore, eject or initialize. I tried the initialize option thinking it would
give me a way to format the card. I believe disk utility opened. I could not
figure out anything past that. In the table i made sure and select the card and
then went to the main part of the window and I just got information about my
hard drive and not the card. The GB of memory did not match the card. I did
google how to format the card but It was not fruitful. I need to use this card
with my stream. I tried formatting the card with the stream but that didn’t
help. The stream can read the card but my Mac cannot. I am running latest
version of El Capitan.

Thanks,
Christina

RE: Reference Citation Suggestions

2016-04-19 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Anne,

Thanks for adding this,

It is good information for me for a work point of view that end note works with
Pages as well as MS office.

I will have to have a play around with pages and endnote at work.

It will give our students another option to document writing and referencing.

Cheers,

Hello Emilio,,

You can use the application Endnote with Pages. I’ve only tested the trial
version as it’s too expensive for me and I have no use for it except for
teaching others to use it. So here’s what we found.
EndNote is easy to install, but there are minor problems with its splash
screens vaunting its new features. The app itself is accessible. You can import
PDFs from a documents subfolder and it will store them as a library. Searching
the library is easy, though you have to press VO-Space on criterion fields
before you can type into them.
>From within Pages, press Cmd-Shift-e to insert a citation, and you get a
>comprehensive dialogue box enabling you to carry out searches of your own
>library, and format the citation you wish. EndNote inserts and maintains a
>bibliography section in your document.
The EndNote website contains lots of information.
Unfortunately, EndNote costs $249.95! However, there are group, student,
institutional and volume discounts available.

Cheers,

Anne

Scott, interesting you say this,
The colleague I helped setup their SE last week went from an iPhone 5 to the SE
and made that choice due to her purse / wallet thing.

The iPhone 5 would fit but the 6 wouldn’t therefore she could only go for the
SE as it would fit the purse also.

I’m glad though Apple misfiling this need, from the response here this seems

Christina,

See if the sd card shows in disk utilities and then format it as a fat32
format if the content you are putting on it is a smaller file size than 4gig
then you shouldn't have an issue with your sd card.

Ok, I will try looking at it again now that I have a little bit of info from
you all. :) The SD C\card is not even showing up in Finder just as FYI. :)

The max the stream claims to handle is 64 GB. That is what size my card has and
the stream is having no problems with the card and telling me my capacity is 60
GB or something like that. :)

I am only having problems with it on my late 2011 Mac. I think it’s a
formatting issue but I haven’t figured out how to format this card. I will try
again in disk utility.

Re: Iphone Se.

2016-04-19 Thread Scott Davert
I think that not everyone likes even the larger screen. I'm a braille
display user, for example, so I'm happier with the smaller screen
size. I'm also not a huge BSI user, so that is another reason I'd like
the larger screen thrown out the window. Battery life? I purchased a
case with a battery onboard for $50, and can get 2 days out of the SE
while constantly running bluetooth for braille. So while the battery
life would be better on the Plus, I have spent much less money to get
a battery case and still get the smaller form factor. Not that I think
there's anything wrong with the larger phones, I'm just explaining the
appeal for me personally.

I used endnote a few years ago. It had some formatting issues on the mac that

See that’s where we differ I suppose. If I were going to solve that problem it
would be a larger purse to hold the larger phone, but that’s me. Not much of a
purse man myself haha. So it’s easy for me to say this at a distance not
having to cary one.

I’m sure the good folks at Burkin among others will be happy to sell you
something to hold that 6S+ if you have the money.:)

2016-04-19 Thread Devin Prater
The next time I get a phone, I’ll get a plus model. I use BSI a lot, so I’d
love to be able to type the FOR sign without having having to do crazy things
with my finger movements. I mean, I can handle it. I’ve played fighting games
almost all my life, so I can deal with the finger tricks, but I’d prefer to
just not have to deal with it.

for the SE as it would fit the purse also.

How to convert videos taken with the phone to optimise them for you tube.

2016-04-19 Thread Nektarios Mallas
Hi guys.
So I have some videos recorded with my Iphone and I have transfer ed those to
my mac with the Image capture application.
Some of those videos are very large in size more than 1.5 gigs.
So I want to use hand break to convert them to smaller size, say about 300 MB
so that I will be able to upload them to you tube easily.
However, I am lost in the many options that hand break offers.
Has anybody out there done this before and if yes, can you help me to choose
the right options for this task?
Any help is very much appreciated.

Nektarios.

Hi!
Well, it might sound strange but i have big hands.
Or i have quite long fingers.
But its very hard for me for some reason to type on a bigger screen.
I don’t know why but thats the case.
SO now i have ordered an Iphone S E on a phone plan here in Sweden.
I have to wait because they are out of phones already.
I don’t know why sighted would like this phone.
Maybe because its so powerful and small.
But if you for example use to be a gamer on the Iphone i would guess a 6 S or 6
S plus would be better.

2016-04-19 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
I will not go to a 64 model and stick to the larger phones because of the
larger 128. May be the next meaning the 7 will have the 256. I wonder what
else the 7 will have to make people want it like crazy!

A chance to win some accessible iOS Apps for Free

2016-04-19 Thread Jonathan Mosen
Hi everyone, Mushroom FM, an Internet radio station staffed by blind
broadcasters, is celebrating its sixth birthday this weekend. There's a big
prize pool which includes a lot of iOS and Apple-related things to give away,
including multiple copies of KNFB Reader and other paid apps. If you're on a
tight budget, you may be able to get an app you've always wanted.
I'm leaving out prizes that wouldn't be on topic for this list, but here are
some Apple things being given away. In every case, there are multiple copies.

KNFB Reader is a mobile app that reads print aloud. It’s easy to use. Take a
photo and the app reads the text aloud in clear synthetic speech. And it’s fast
– the print will be yours almost instantaneously.

Worried about getting the right photo? The app will help you. It has text
detection so you know you have the printed side of the page. The app also helps
you get the whole page photographed with tilt and viewfinder assist. Just a tap
of the finger and the print is yours.

KNFB Reader can read receipts. You will know what has been put on your card at
restaurants, stores, or in taxis.

KNFB reader can read package labels. Wonder what came in the mail? Need
nutritional information from your breakfast cereal? KNFB Reader captures it all.

Is your screen reader not cooperating? KNFB Reader can capture print from your
computer or tablet screen. Photograph the screen and know exactly what those
error messages say.

Deep Sleep and relaxation apps and MP3 downloads from Andrew Johnson. Andrew's
vast selection of relaxation apps have helped many people change their lives in
many ways. We have a very generous quantity of MP3 downloads and apps to give
away that could make a big difference to you getting a good, refreshing rest.

Unlimited game play and full upgrades to the game of your choice with Blindfold
Games. Does Marty at Blindfold Games ever sleep? He just keeps churning out
these amazing, addictive games. Card games, racing games, action games, he's
got it all covered with fully accessible games that are fun to play for blind
and sighted people alike. We have a great many chances over the weekend for you
to win unlimited game play and full upgrades to the Blindfold Game of your
choice.

The Downcast podcast app for both iOS and Mac. You won't at all be feeling
downcast about the great accessibility of this app. If you like a powerful
podcast app that not only lets you play your favourite podcasts but will also
let you load your favourite audiobooks and other audio files in it for great
listening, you can't go past Downcast. It has a bunch of advanced features that
make this the swiss army knife of podcast listening. And if you have both the
iOS and mac versions, they sync beautifully thanks to iCloud support.

The Fantastical calendar app for iPhone and iPad. It's called Fantastical for
good reason. Type in, or dictate, your appointment in natural language, and
Fantastical fills in all the appointment fields by itself. For example, type
"Listen to the Mushroom FM birthday weekend at 3 PM on Saturday", and it's
done. See your reminders all within the app too. It integrates with your iOS
Calendar, so you can still check your appointments with Siri and the native
Calendar app. Have an Apple Watch? It's there too.

The Mystic Access Tutorial of your choice. Mystic Access have just released an
excellent Voice Dream Reader tutorial, and they have much more as well.

Talking LG Bluetooth Headsets from SpeedDots. Listen to music, podcasts, or
make and receive phone calls with ease, comfort, and exceptional sound with
this stereo Bluetooth headset.

Tempered glass tactile screen protectors from SpeedDots. Available for your
iPhone 6/6s, or iPhone 6+/6s+, type with confidence and efficiency with a range
of screen protector to suit your requirements.

Tweetings Pro iOS Twitter client. Fully accessible and with the power of a
desktop Twitter client on your iDevice, Tweetings is simple to use, yet gives
you all the power you need to be a Twitter ninja. Handy actions implemented for
VoiceOver makes it super easy to swipe to reply, retweet and more.

The Grain Science synthesiser app for musicians. Musicians, geek out with this
one. Grain Science offers a versatile synthesis engine. You can create
everything from crunchy basslines to spooky soundscapes. With granular
synthesis, you can do magical things with sound. Tear it into pieces then put
it back together to make something new. Each of the 16 voices has two grain
units, which can be blended to create morphing, layered or complex modulated
instruments. It's AudioBus aware, so you can connect it with other apps. .

Audio books and eBooks from Mosen Consulting. Mosen Consulting offers eBooks
and audiobooks on a range of topics, including using iOS, Twitter, the Amadeus
Pro audio app for Mac, recording quality technology demos and more.

To win any of these prizes, you'll need to be registered and listeni

Re: can't get mac to work with micro Sd card

2016-04-19 Thread Sabahattin Gucukoglu
You can get 32 GB SD-HC cards very cheaply nowadays, in packs. You might just
pick up a pack of them, and simply spread your content over the cards for your
Stream. That’s a sure-fire way to make it work, and you don’t have to worry
about whether the particular card of a higher capacity might or might not work.

Still, nothing says proof like seeing it work, so, when you get the time, give
your new card another spin after formatting it fully with your Mac. I’m pretty
sure it will fail, but still, give it a try.
