Best application for handling comments and change tracking in MS-Word files?

2015-05-22 Thread Jason White
Which application would you recommend as providing best support for working
with MS-Word files that use change tracking and comments?

I have Apple Pages installed. I also tried LibreOffice but found that it wasn’t
accessible with VoiceOver. It is accessible under Linux, but obviously their OS
X accessibility support is not yet functional. I haven’t downloaded MS-Office
2016 preview yet.

Re: How to view email messages individually on the Mac.

2015-05-22 Thread Bill Gallik
Hi all;

If I may, I’d like to offer another solution presented in this thread.

As some of you may know, the first column in the “Messages Table” is a
“Disclosure Triangle.” If you focus on that field in any given line, selecting
the right arrow (>) will expand the thread so each message in the line appears
as a “stand alone” message — still sorted according to the conversation
parameter. The one problem here is that I don’t know of any way to recognize
an “unopened thread” as such. But if you suspect a mubject to be one of a
number of messages in a thread, selecting “>” in the “Disclosure Triangle” will
expand that particular thread.

Conversely, should you choose to delete an entire thread in one fell swoop,
simply use the “<“ character on the Disclosure Triangle” to contract all
messages in that into a single entry in the table and then +
will get that job done.

2015-05-22 Thread Bill Gallik
Excuse me, but I made an error in my prior message on this thread.

Rather than using the “>” and “<“ characters on a “Disclosure Triangle,” use
the COMMAND+OPTION+SPACE to toggle a thread between expanded and collapsed.

My apologies for any inconvenience my initial post may have caused!

Regarding download speeds from external HD and other stuff with new MBP

2015-05-22 Thread KJSC radio
Hello. I’m hoping that someone can help me out with this as soon as possible.
So, a couple of days ago, I got a new mac book pro 13 inch retina display 2015
mottle and I do love it. But, I often boot from my 2 TB western digital my
book external hard drive. I’M having the following problems.
1.
I can download only up to 100 KPS on my external booted into it but when on
the internal SSD hard drive I can make my download speeds up to 1 meg per
second.
2.
When shutting down, from the external, it will frees during shutdown and I
would have to shut it down manually and I do not like doing that.
3.
If anyone are familiar with nicecast and DJay, I’m having a problem both on
internal and on the external HD of when I start broadcasting without DJay pro
opened it sends the data through but when I stop broadcasting, and open up Djay
and hit start broadcast again, it will not even send data through and I would
have to do a restart. Is, this a hardware problem?
If someone can shed some light on this matter, I would be grateful. I have done
everything from reinstalling the OS on the external to doing a release of my
DHCP in network preferences and still not really getting anywhere. One more
question.
In regards to download speeds, is it because I’m booted from my external HD and
that hard drive is just slow because there is a lot of stuff on it? I have
never seen this problem when booting it into my old macbook.
Again, anything you all can shed light on I would appreciate.
Thanks all.

2015-05-22 Thread Shaf
You really shouldn't be booting from an external drive unless you really
have to.

Download speeds probably have something to do with your external HD speed.
Regarding freezing, I don't know but it could be a corrupted sector on
your external drive.

I’ve just downloaded this.

I didn’t have any difficulty finding the text entry field, but VoiceOver
wouldn’t read the text as I entered or edited it. I reported this as a bug.

Yes I found a text entry field and had the same no reading of the entery as I
did it, but if you go back voice told me that was the field to put in a email
if you wanted m s to contact you if they choose and that was the only edit
field I found on the entire form

Re: Best application for handling comments and change tracking in MS-Word files?

2015-05-22 Thread Sean Murphy
Jason,

Comments on Word you can insert with no problems. I have not yet tested it, but
I suspect you could set up a hot spot to monitor the tab that is open for
comments to detect the presence of a comment in the document.

I have not tested track changes in word. As you have already posted that you
have the pre-release version.

Keep the posts coming.
