RE: can't delete a message sent via Outlook

2014-12-06 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Donna,

As I read your message, so many things come to mind:

1.
Does the stubborn message appear in the email app of your mobile device? If
so, then perhaps your work computer did not remove it from the mail servers.

2.
Is there a web interface for your work email account? If so, login using your
preferred browser and see if the message appears there.

3.
Many universities, in California anyway, are now using Google as the host for
their email accounts. Does your university host its own email accounts? or has
it switched over to Google. If it has switched to Google, there may be an
issue with Labels.

4.
If you have confirmed that the stubborn message only exists on your Mac, then
perhaps you should try taking the account, containing the stubborn message,
offline, then putting it back online, and then manually synchronizing the
account.

5.
>From within the Mail application, you can attempt to re-build the database.

6.
If all else fails, you can always delete the account, with the stubborn
message, from your Mac, and then re-creating it again. Or, if you just want to
test, you can create a new account, in the Mail application, with the same
credentials as the old one, and see if the message appears in the new account.

Finally, there is a way to reset all of the databases in the Mail application,
externally, by deleteing a file/folder but I cannot remember the exact
name/locations of them. I'm certain a quick Google search will net you the
answer.

Good Luck,

Mark

Subject: can't delete a message sent via Outlook

Hi all,

At work I use MS Outlook. I have a message that was sent to me from my
university that I absolutely cannot delete. I've tried closing mail,
restarting the computer, and this message will not go away. this despite the
fact that I have successfully deleted it from my computer at work. Anyone know
what could cause this, and how do I get rid of this stupid message?
thanks,
Donna

Re: Spanish

2014-12-06 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Sarai,

To add a Spanish keyboard, go to System Preferences and open the Keyboard tab.
Select Input sources then click the Add button. Select Spanish in the table of
languages. You’ll need to just go down until you find it as first letter
navigation doesn’t work in this table.

Once you’ve added Spanish, make sure that Input sources shows up in the status
menus. Switch to the Spanish keyboard and use VO-k to learn its layout.

Cheers,

Anne

Anybody having a problem with nicecast and network conductivity?

2014-12-06 Thread Kjsc Radio
So, was just wondering who ever uses nicecast, I am not using it to broadcast,
my twitter, and my Internet browsing, is relatively fast. But, when I go to
broadcast on a server using the program, web browsing and Twitter posting, is
very slow. It's not my network, because everything else that end of things
seems to be running pretty well. And this is using the latest version. And it's
running on mavericks.

Quick question; when you say Windows Platform, are you on a Windows PC or are
you on a Mac with a Windows Platform? I am having difficulty understanding what

Subject: Re: Fujitsu ScanSnap | Accessibility of ScanSnap Manager with VoiceOver

The pricing concerning the Fujitsu Scansnap, varies. I purchased the S1300i
model through Amazon for $250.

This includes the Scansnap software with ABBYY Fine Reader and the scanner.

My scanner is a 9-page tray machine with a very compact footprint.

It is all quite easy to setup and use. I wish I had this during my first round
of graduate school because while Kurzweil is great for the Windows platform, it
was slightly cumbersome to constantly load VMFusion just to scan textbooks.

In this case, I would be more willing to have the binding removed so scanning
could be less of a chore, and more of "a minutes" process, rather than a
devoted period of time that cut into reading.

Furthermore, while I know the 1500 model is slightly more expensive because of
the wireless capability, I would like it for the 50-page loading tray, which
would be easier to work with. I have been creative and have inserted several
pages behind the 9-page limit, but sometimes the scanner does get the better of
me. :)

Hope this has been helpful

thanks for all of the suggestions. Taking the account off-line and then back

adding custom braille display commands

2014-12-06 Thread Juliette Swiler
I was just looking at the custom commands I could add to my braille display on
the Mac. But I don’t see a couple of possibilities that I was hoping to add.
One is a command to show the reader in Safari, and another was to go back a
page when on a web page. Any ideas?

Neither is possible directly. However, you could probably manage them with
AppleScript; make the script to do what you want, then tie a command to that
script.

brilliant display

Hi,

Just turn off the display and it will disconnect from your mac.

The first time you pair it with your i phone, do it while your mac is shut off,
just for simplicity. with the i phone, the display will disconnect when the
screen is locked, so be aware of this.

On Mavericks, it seems to work fine. Can’t say for sure on Yosemite.
It’s always been that the first 2 button’s won’t say anything but pop-up. But
both buttons have help tags.
The first button would be where to copy from, and the second, is where to copy
too. There is a button that will say just. Button, however, that’s to copy
without password authentication.
Otherwise, it seems ok.
As far as Time Machine (TM) goes, you will need to turn off time machine, and
format your drive. Though, SuperDooper will do that as well, if you use Smart
Update.

That’s interesting, I’ll have to look into it. Is one able to restore from a

Basic Airport Time Capsule and Time Machine questions

2014-12-06 Thread Phil Halton
I just got the 2 TB time capsule the other day and have setup my MBA's backup.
Can I also use the same Time Capsule to backup my iMac? I’m running the iMac
backup now, and it didn’t complain about another machine using the Time
Capsule, but I thought I’d ask if using two machines on the same Time Capsule
was a good idea.
Second question: does it matter how you arrange the Time Capsule? I have it
laying on its side with ports on the back side and the fan on the right side.
Is it supposed to be standing up? The fan looks like it might have four little
bumpers for standing on. Does it even matter how it is oriented?
thanks

I Cloud Rules?

2014-12-06 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Hello.

In Mavericks, we are able to set Global rules for our mailboxes using
www.icloud.com as I set up many rules at the time and
wrote a helpful to do guide on it.

Now that I have Yosemite and set up different mailboxes to do the very same, to
sign into www.icloud.com on my I Mac, thought I could
do the same.

So I sign into I Cloud.com and find that the global
preferences are not there. We have settings, I cloud drive contacts, calendars
but no frame for preferences. So if someone could tell me how we are to set
global rule preferences please now?

Thank you very much.

Kawal.

Re: Basic Airport Time Capsule and Time Machine questions

2014-12-06 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

As long as there’s enough space for both backups, that’s perfectly fine on a
Time Capsule. Regarding the placement of the TC, it is meant to stand
vertically in order to transmit the strongest signal thus best performance,
but, if you leave it that way, it likely won’t actually hurt anything.

Later...

Re: I Cloud Rules?

2014-12-06 Thread Kliph
It is still done the same way. You just have to get to it a different way.
What I do is go to mail, preferences, accounts, and go to where it asks where I
want to send my mail from. Then I vo space bar on that pop up menu, go to
where it says edit alias, and that takes me to the icloud.com
website. I find rules, and instead of vo space bar on
rules, you have to do the mouse down command, then mouse up command. Once you
do this, you will be able to find your rules, and set them up the same way.

Face Book with Mavericks & VO Pod casts?

Hi List,
Does anybody know of a "quick start" VoiceOver working with Face Book step by
steps?
Tutorial style or just a pod cast on what to do to get around the application
without wasting time with trial and error?
I'd be glad to trade out Pro tools tech support with someone out there, or just
pay for a quick start step by step!
I'm using a mac mini with mavericks BTW :)
